To make a vCard QR code, choose a QR generator with a vCard or contact-card option, enter the details you want to share, generate the code, then download and test it. The result lets someone scan the code and save your contact information. Treat the code as public: anyone who can scan it may see the details it contains.
What a vCard QR code contains
A vCard is a standardized format for representing and exchanging contact information. The IETF’s RFC 6350 covers details such as names, addresses, email addresses, and telephone numbers, and specifies UTF-8 for vCard content. A QR generator encodes the contact card so a compatible device can read it when scanned.

How to create a vCard QR code
- Choose a generator. Select a service that specifically offers a vCard, contact, or contact-card QR code.
- Enter the details to share. Common fields include your name, organization, phone number, email address, and website. Include only information you want a scanner to receive.
- Generate and download the code. Use the generator’s controls to create the QR code, then download it in a format it offers. QRCode.io, for example, describes PNG and SVG exports; its format options and instructions are specific to that service.
- Place it where people can scan it. You can share the image digitally or add it to a business card, badge, sign, or stand.
- Test the final version in context. Scan the code from the actual screen or printed item, and confirm that the contact information appears as intended and can be saved. Check it again after resizing or changing the layout.
Choose static or dynamic based on whether the destination may change
A static QR code contains the contact details directly. If those details change, you generally need to create and distribute a replacement code. A dynamic code instead points to a destination that can be updated after the code is printed. QRCode.io describes dynamic codes as an available paid service; that is vendor-specific guidance, not a guarantee about other providers or their terms.

Make the code practical to scan
Keep the code clear of page edges and nearby graphics, and test it at its final size. QRCode.io advises leaving clear space around a code and notes that denser codes may need a larger printed size. These are that vendor’s recommendations, not a universal print-size rule; the real test is whether the finished version scans reliably in its intended setting.

For a printed card or badge, test a physical proof rather than relying only on an on-screen preview. For digital sharing, test the image at the size and on the type of screen recipients are likely to use.
Protect your contact details
A vCard does not provide built-in authentication or confidentiality. RFC 6350 says vCards have “no inherent authentication or confidentiality provisions.” Anyone who can scan a code containing your information may be able to read it. Include only details you are comfortable sharing with that audience, and remember that contact information can become outdated.

Check version compatibility without assuming a guarantee
QRCode.io says its generator uses vCard 3.0 and claims wider phone support for that version than for vCard 4.0. That is the provider’s guidance, not a guarantee that every phone or scanning app will handle a particular code. Test the generated code with the devices and apps your intended audience is likely to use.
