If something called “URLbox” is not working in Chrome, first confirm the exact extension and its publisher: the available official Urlbox sources describe a screenshot and rendering service with an API and CLI, but do not verify an official Urlbox Chrome extension. Open chrome://extensions and check the extension’s full name, publisher, and error message before applying product-specific fixes.
First, identify what is failing
In Chrome’s address bar, open chrome://extensions. Find the item you believe is URLbox and note its exact name, publisher, enabled status, and any error shown. Also record your Chrome version and operating system, and identify the symptom: installation fails, the extension is disabled, its toolbar icon is missing, sign-in fails, or clicking it produces an error.
The official Urlbox documentation describes a web-rendering service that turns URLs and HTML into screenshots, PDFs, video, and extracted content, with render links and JSON API requests. It also documents a CLI. Those sources do not establish that an official Urlbox Chrome extension exists. That is not proof that no such extension exists; it means the extension’s identity needs to be verified before treating it as a Urlbox product.
Check the extension’s actual Chrome Web Store listing and publisher support link. A similarly named or unrelated extension should not be diagnosed using Urlbox API instructions. The listing titled Screenshot with URL – Full Page Screenshot is not evidence of an official Urlbox extension.

If Chrome will not install the extension
Google’s guidance for extension installation problems points to a few baseline checks. Try them in order:
- Update Chrome. Install any available browser update, then try the extension installation again. See Google’s Chrome Web Store troubleshooting guidance.
- Use desktop Chrome. Chrome extensions cannot be installed on mobile devices, including when the browser is set to desktop mode.
- Leave Incognito or Guest mode. Extensions cannot be installed while Chrome is in either mode. Try again in a regular Chrome window.
- Check device management. A work- or school-managed computer may restrict extension installation. If Chrome indicates that an administrator controls the setting, contact that administrator rather than trying to bypass the policy.
If the extension is installed but does not work
The correct next step depends on the verified extension listing and the exact error. The available sources do not provide product-specific fixes for an unidentified extension that fails after launch. Avoid applying commands or credentials intended for Urlbox’s CLI or API to a browser extension.

- Copy the complete error message from the extension page or popup.
- Open the extension’s actual store listing and use the publisher and support information shown there.
- If the device is managed, ask the administrator whether a policy is blocking the extension or its required access.
- When seeking help, provide the listing URL, exact extension name and publisher, Chrome version, operating system, and the action that triggers the failure.
If you meant Urlbox CLI or API
Urlbox’s command-line and API tools are separate from a Chrome extension. For a CLI problem, its documentation recommends running urlbox doctor. The diagnostic checks the CLI installation, configuration, credentials, and network connectivity. Follow the official CLI installation and update instructions if the command is missing or the installation needs attention.
