UNCHARTED: The Nathan Drake Collection contains the first three games; UNCHARTED: Legacy of Thieves Collection contains the later Uncharted 4 and The Lost Legacy. They cover different stories, so one is not an updated edition of the other. For the series in story order, play the trilogy first and then Legacy of Thieves.

What each collection actually covers
The Nathan Drake Collection: the original trilogy
This collection brings together the single-player campaigns from the first three mainline Uncharted games. It is the starting point for Nathan Drake’s story among these two bundles. PlayStation lists it as a PS4 game released October 9, 2015, and notes PS5 playability subject to compatibility details on its listing.

Legacy of Thieves: two later adventures
This collection remasters Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End and Uncharted: The Lost Legacy for PS5 and PC. It includes Nathan Drake’s fourth mainline adventure as well as a separate story featuring Chloe Frazer. It does not include the first three games.

Because the campaigns do not overlap, buying either collection does not provide the stories in the other. The official game lineups are listed by PlayStation Store and PlayStation.
Which one should you play first?
If you want the main stories in release and narrative order, play The Nathan Drake Collection first, then Legacy of Thieves. That takes you through games one to three before Uncharted 4 and The Lost Legacy. This order follows the games included in each official collection; it is a practical recommendation for newcomers, not a requirement to launch either bundle.

Remaster, multiplayer, and buying considerations
Different remaster targets
PlayStation describes The Nathan Drake Collection as three fully remastered PS4 games. Legacy of Thieves is the later remaster of Uncharted 4 and The Lost Legacy for PS5 and PC. These are remasters aimed at different games and platforms, so this comparison alone does not establish which looks or performs better on a particular setup.
Multiplayer is not included in Legacy of Thieves
PlayStation says the Legacy of Thieves release does not support multiplayer included in the original titles. Its collection is for the two single-player campaigns. The Nathan Drake Collection’s store description likewise presents its included campaigns as single-player.

Check format and availability for your region
PlayStation Direct lists a PS5 disc edition of Legacy of Thieves, while PlayStation Store identifies The Nathan Drake Collection as a PS4 version. Current retailer stock, regional formats, and prices can vary; check the store serving your region before buying. The PS4 collection is playable on PS5 subject to PlayStation’s compatibility notes.
