Un accessoire appelé AirTag Silencer pourrait rendre plus difficile la découverte d’un AirTag caché sur une personne. Selon iPhon.fr, il neutralise le haut-parleur tout en laissant le suivi Localiser actif. Le fabricant le présente comme un moyen d’empêcher un voleur de repérer un traceur placé sur un vélo ou un autre bien ; le même changement peut toutefois priver une personne suivie à son insu d’un signal sonore utile.
Que fait l’AirTag Silencer ?
Dans un article publié le 2 octobre 2026, iPhon.fr rapporte qu’Elevation Lab a présenté l’AirTag Silencer le 30 septembre 2026. Il s’agit d’un outil destiné à modifier l’AirTag, et non d’un simple étui de protection.
Selon la description de cet article, l’accessoire coupe mécaniquement la bobine du haut-parleur. Une fois modifié, l’AirTag continuerait à transmettre sa position via le réseau Localiser, mais ne pourrait plus émettre de son. Cette description et ce fonctionnement sont rapportés par iPhon.fr ; ils ne sont pas le résultat d’un test indépendant présenté ici.

L’argument antivol avancé pour l’accessoire
D’après iPhon.fr, Elevation Lab justifie l’outil par la protection de biens équipés d’un AirTag, comme un vélo : un voleur pourrait entendre le traceur et le retirer. C’est l’argument attribué au fabricant, pas une garantie que l’accessoire empêche le vol ou améliore la récupération d’un bien.
Le risque pour une personne suivie à son insu
Le revers est qu’un AirTag caché dans un sac ou une voiture peut être plus difficile à localiser si son haut-parleur ne fonctionne plus. Apple indique qu’un AirTag séparé de son propriétaire pendant un certain temps peut émettre un son lorsqu’il est déplacé. Supprimer ce signal peut donc compliquer la recherche physique du traceur. Cela ne signifie pas que l’accessoire entraîne forcément un danger, mais qu’il peut réduire une des façons de découvrir un AirTag inconnu.

Son de l’AirTag et notifications : deux protections différentes
Le son est émis par le traceur ; une notification de suivi indésirable s’affiche sur un appareil compatible. Elles ne sont pas interchangeables : une notification dépend notamment de l’appareil et des réglages, tandis que le son est un indice physique à proximité.

Apple indique que les notifications de suivi indésirable pour les AirTags et accessoires du réseau Localiser sont disponibles sur iPhone ou iPad sous iOS ou iPadOS 14.5 ou ultérieur. Les services de localisation, Localiser mon iPhone, Bluetooth et les notifications de suivi doivent être activés ; le mode avion doit être désactivé. Apple mentionne aussi la détection des traqueurs inconnus sur Android 6.0 ou ultérieur. Les conditions et fonctionnalités peuvent évoluer avec les mises à jour.

Que faire si vous pensez qu’un AirTag vous suit ?
- Consultez l’alerte. Si votre appareil signale un AirTag ou un accessoire inconnu, suivez les options affichées. Apple indique que vous pouvez demander au traceur d’émettre un son ou utiliser Localisation précise si elle est disponible.
- Vérifiez vos affaires. Si vous ne trouvez pas le traceur mais pensez qu’il est toujours avec vous, inspectez vos effets personnels et les endroits où un petit objet pourrait être dissimulé.
- Priorisez votre sécurité. Si vous pensez que votre sécurité est menacée, Apple recommande de vous rendre dans un lieu public sûr et de contacter les forces de l’ordre.
