UI Screen Context is a free, native macOS app from Behavio that records a UI walkthrough and packages screenshots, pointer events, timing, and your spoken explanation into a handoff for a coding agent. Instead of relying on a screenshot and a short instruction alone, the agent can start with more of the context behind the requested change. The tool supplies evidence; it does not guarantee that an agent will interpret or implement a change correctly.
What UI Screen Context captures
Behavio describes the app as following the active window while you work. During a recording, it captures selected screenshots and window timing, records pointer events when available, and can transcribe spoken feedback locally on your Mac. At the end, it creates a structured context folder for review and handoff.
The folder includes context.md, a manifest timeline, a transcript, and folders for recommended and on-demand evidence images. It does not include raw audio or video. The announcement describes the handoff as including the original transcript and spoken language, recorded windows and their timing, pointer events, and a text target when one can be confirmed. It can also state limits where the capture cannot establish what happened. See Behavio’s announcement and the project README.
How the recording and handoff work
- Bring the target window forward. The app follows the active window, so make the interface you want to discuss the one you are working in.
- Grant permissions and choose capture options. Review the requested macOS permissions, select a microphone if you want spoken feedback, choose a spoken language, and select a speech engine if needed.
- Start recording and narrate the change. Point at relevant parts of the interface; speak, pause, click, or scroll as you explain what you want changed or demonstrate a bug.
- Stop and review the saved result. Inspect the transcript and referenced frames, especially where a phrase or UI state could be interpreted in more than one way.
- Give the context to your agent. Paste the copied context as directed. Make sure the agent can actually access the referenced local files, or attach the relevant images separately.
The README’s short description is: “Show an AI agent what you want changed: point at the screen, explain it aloud, then paste the recorded context.”

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
What you need on macOS
The project README lists macOS 15 or newer. Requirements depend on which parts of the workflow you use:
- Screen Recording: Required for window capture.
- Microphone: Needed for spoken feedback, but you can leave it off and capture visual context only.
- Speech Recognition: Required for Apple’s on-device speech recognition, which also needs an available offline language model. The local Whisper option does not require this permission.
- Input Monitoring: Recommended for pointer evidence. Without it, pointer-event coverage may be incomplete.
Accessibility, Full Disk Access, and Camera access are not required for the workflow described in the README. Permission requirements and app behavior are documented in the project README.

Privacy and local speech models
Behavio says Apple speech recognition runs on-device, Whisper runs locally, and recordings, transcripts, screenshots, and analytics are not uploaded. Speech-model downloads are explicit rather than automatic. The README lists Whisper Small at about 488 MB and Whisper Large v3 Turbo at about 1.63 GB; those figures describe downloadable model weights, not storage hardware or a recurring allowance. Consider available disk space and download access before choosing a model.
Local processing does not mean every handoff file is automatically available to an agent. The project notes that local image references are not automatically attached to a remote agent: a local agent must be able to read the files, or you must attach them separately. Decide what to share and verify the receiving agent’s access before relying on evidence references.

Where the evidence can be uncertain
A recording gives an agent useful context, but it is not a definitive record of intent or every UI state. Behavio explicitly cautions: “A frame held during a transition is not proof that the UI changed.” Short visits to a window and gaps in capture should not be treated as evidence of continuous interaction.
- A completed transcript can still contain recognition errors; short phrases may be misrecognized.
- A pointer position or OCR association does not prove which element you meant.
- A screenshot captured during a transition may not show whether a change completed.
- Brief window visits and capture gaps do not establish what happened between the recorded moments.
For an ambiguous request, review the transcript and referenced frames yourself, then add a direct written instruction about the intended outcome. Evidence of what appeared on screen may not explain why the change was requested. One reader commenting on Behavio’s announcement made that distinction, noting that intent can matter when an apparent UI workaround is serving an accessibility need; this is a reader’s perspective, not a documented app finding.

Who may find the workflow useful
Behavio names product designers, developers, and QA practitioners as intended users, and the README also describes bug reproduction. The app is most relevant if you work on a Mac and regularly need to show an agent a real interface state, point to a specific area, or explain a reproduction path. Before adopting it, check that your Mac meets the stated requirement, that you can grant the permissions for the evidence you need, that model downloads fit your storage and network situation, and that your agent can read or receive the resulting files.
Behavio’s September 20, 2026 announcement describes UI Screen Context as free, and the project is licensed under Apache-2.0. The repository’s license permits commercial use subject to its license terms and notice requirements; consult the repository for the applicable details.
