U-Boat Worx’s three-person Super Sub is an electric personal submarine designed to bank, turn and dive more dynamically than conventional slow-moving personal subs. Its current product page lists a top speed of 10 knots; the manufacturer’s March 2026 sea-trials announcement reported nine knots. That distinction matters: “three times faster” is a comparison with certain three-knot subs, not a general measure against boats.
What the Super Sub is—and how fast it is
The Super Sub is built for private underwater exploration and seats two passengers plus a pilot. U-Boat Worx lists a maximum operating depth of 300 m (1,000 ft), a 62 kWh battery and up to eight hours of endurance on its product page.
Speed figures differ by source and date. The current product page lists 10 knots. In its March 20, 2026 announcement after Curaçao trials, U-Boat Worx reported a top speed of nine knots. New Atlas described the nine-knot figure as roughly three times the three-knot ceiling of conventional personal subs such as the company’s Nemo and Nexus models. The comparison is therefore specific to that baseline; it does not mean the craft is three times faster than boats generally.
How its propulsion and hydrofoil steering work
U-Boat Worx says four rear thrusters propel the craft, while rear hydrofoils direct their thrust. This arrangement is intended to let the submarine bank through turns and make steep dives or ascents. The product page also lists two additional 6 kW thrusters. New Atlas describes these as wing thrusters with 12 kW combined output, alongside four main electric thrusters.

- Plastic model kit
- Paints sold separately unless stated
U-Boat Worx reported 100 kW of horizontal thrust in its March 2026 trials announcement. New Atlas reports that the Super Sub can dive and ascend at angles of up to 45 degrees and turn at up to 30 degrees. These are manufacturer-reported or media-reported performance figures, not results of an independent test presented here.
Depth, range and life-support limits
The manufacturer’s product page rates the sub for a maximum depth of 300 m (1,000 ft) and lists up to eight hours of endurance. Its March 2026 announcement gives range as up to ten nautical miles. Depth, endurance and range describe different operating limits; the sources do not establish that maximum speed, maximum range and maximum endurance can all be achieved on the same mission.

- This is a plastic model kit (unbuilt / unpainted) - NOT A TOY
- ASSEMBLY AND PAINTING REQUIRED (glue and paint not included)
- Contains parts to build one model.
New Atlas reported that the Curaçao certification trials included testing a 96-hour backup life-support system with oxygen, carbon-dioxide scrubbing and emergency power. That is backup life support, not the normal eight-hour mission endurance.
What was reported about testing and certification
U-Boat Worx announced on March 20, 2026 that sea trials in Curaçao were complete. New Atlas’s March 21 report said the trials covered propulsion, handling, onboard controls and safety systems, and reported DNV safety approval. U-Boat Worx says each individual craft must meet DNV requirements and pass trials before certification. These are manufacturer and media reports; the sources cited here do not include the certificate or an independent survey report.

Delivery status
When U-Boat Worx announced the completed trials on March 20, 2026, it said delivery to the first client was expected within the coming weeks. New Atlas reported an imminent handover the following day. Those reports establish the plan at that time, but do not confirm that delivery later occurred.
