Choose Typeform when the form experience itself is the priority: it emphasizes conversational, visually branded forms for surveys, quizzes, lead capture, and feedback. Choose Formstack when submissions need to move into approvals, generated documents, or signatures. The right choice depends on what happens after someone submits the form as much as on how the form looks.
This comparison draws on vendor product and pricing pages reviewed October 7, 2026; it is not based on independent usability testing. Confirm current plans and terms with each provider before buying.
How Typeform and Formstack differ
The central distinction is workflow emphasis. Typeform foregrounds the respondent-facing experience, with a conversational, one-question-at-a-time format, templates, customization, and survey tools. Formstack positions its products around connected data collection and downstream work: its Suite combines Forms, Documents, and Sign for workflows that can include approvals, document generation, and signatures.

Which service fits your use case?
Typeform is a better fit when form completion is the focus
Consider Typeform if you want to create branded surveys, quizzes, lead-capture forms, or feedback forms and care about the experience respondents see. Its overview describes templates, integrations, automation, and analytics alongside its conversational form format. Typeform’s claims about design advantages and outcomes should be treated as vendor claims, not independent comparative findings.
Formstack is a better fit when submissions start a process
Consider Formstack if collected information needs to feed an approval, populate a document, or lead to an e-signature. Formstack describes these capabilities across Forms, Documents, and Sign; the Suite packages those products together. Verify that the intended sequence and required features are available in the specific plan you are considering.

Use the same real workflow to evaluate both
Before deciding, map a representative process from the respondent’s first screen through the final internal action. Test the form on desktop and mobile, then check the connector, field mapping, plan, submission volume, and any compliance terms the workflow requires. The reviewed vendor pages do not provide independent comparative usability tests.
Compare the details that can change the decision
Respondent experience and design
Typeform emphasizes a conversational, one-question-at-a-time experience, templates, and customization. Formstack supports form customization; the claim that its media and design tools are comparatively limited comes from Typeform’s own comparison page. Build the same sample form in both services and test it with representative respondents rather than relying on a vendor’s characterization of a competitor.
Rank #3
What happens after submission
Typeform describes integrations, automations, and analytics. Formstack describes approvals and document generation, and says signatures can be collected on forms. Its Suite brings Forms, Documents, and Sign together. Confirm whether the required routing, generated document, and signature sequence are part of the selected tier before committing.
Integrations and field mapping
Typeform lists connections including HubSpot, Salesforce, Mailchimp, Slack, Google Sheets, Stripe, Calendly, and Notion. Formstack advertises more than 300 integrations and a native Salesforce offering. These broad lists do not establish whether a particular connector supports your fields or is included in your plan. Check the precise connector behavior and whether you need an additional plan or connector.
Security and compliance
Both vendors make compliance-related claims. Typeform’s comparison page names several standards, while Formstack describes HIPAA plans and PCI-compliant payment fields. These claims do not establish that every plan or configuration meets your obligations. Review the applicable contract, data handling, plan scope, and configuration with the provider against your own requirements.

The reviewed Formstack pricing page lists annual-billing starting prices and associated allowances. Typeform’s figures are less straightforward to compare: its comparison article shows one annual price snapshot, while its live pricing page presents other plan structures and displayed amounts. These are the prices and allowances on Formstack’s page reviewed October 7, 2026, not a guarantee of current rates or availability in every market. The same page lists Salesforce and Enterprise as custom-priced. Confirm geography, billing cadence, users, caps, and add-ons directly with the vendor.
Typeform’s comparison article reviewed October 7, 2026 lists annual-billing prices of Basic at $25/month, Plus at $50/month, and Business at $83/month, with different response allowances by tier. Its pricing page also shows other plan structures and displayed amounts. Because the two vendor pages do not present one unchanging structure, check Typeform’s live pricing page for the plan and market you intend to buy.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. How to make the decision
- Write down the full workflow. Include the respondent experience, data fields, integrations, approvals, documents, and signatures you actually need.
- Check plan eligibility. Confirm that the exact workflow, connector, user count, and response or submission volume fit the proposed tier.
- Compare the respondent experience. Build or trial the same representative form on desktop and mobile, then assess the completion flow with typical users.
- Review the commercial and compliance terms. Verify current price, billing cadence, limits, add-ons, contract terms, and relevant data-handling commitments.
Vendor statistics are not substitutes for this evaluation. Typeform’s comparison article claims that 87% of users achieved higher survey response rates than with their previous form builder, but the reviewed page does not provide enough methodology to treat that figure as an expected or independently verified result. It also claims that 60% of Fortune 500 companies choose Typeform without explaining the underlying definition or methodology. Formstack’s Suite page reports that more than 25,000 organizations worldwide have used it, but does not state a measurement date. These are vendor-published claims, not a neutral measure of which service will fit your workflow.
