Which platform has more viewers?
By the Q1 2026 hours-watched estimates cited above, Twitch was substantially larger. Stream Hatchet reported 4.5 billion hours watched on Twitch and 1.3 billion on Kick, while reporting 65% year-over-year growth for Kick. That combination suggests a smaller platform growing quickly, not one that had already overtaken Twitch in viewing time.
Hours watched measure viewing time across tracked platforms; they are not a count of people. Nor do platform totals show how easy it is for a new channel to get discovered. Your prospects depend on factors such as category competition, timing, language, audience relationships, and whether viewers return. Treat the figures as context for relative scale, not as a promise of reach.
How do creator earnings compare?
Twitch: multiple earning routes, with program terms to check
Twitch’s official materials describe a standard 50/50 split for Affiliate subscriptions and higher qualifying levels through its Plus Program. Partners can also earn from ads. Those statements do not determine what a particular creator will receive: access and terms vary by program and account, and revenue depends on actual subscriptions, ad demand, and other conditions. Kick: a 95/5 published split, not guaranteed income
Kick says creators receive 95% of subscription revenue and KICKs revenue, with 5% taken as a processing fee. Its August 2026 help article describes a $5 monthly subscription and gives an example in which the creator receives $4.75 and the processing fee is $0.25. That example is tied to Kick’s stated subscription price and split; it is not a prediction of how much a channel will earn. Kick’s revenue-split article explains its published terms.
A more favorable percentage matters only if viewers subscribe or send KICKs, and if you meet the relevant requirements. When comparing likely income, consider your audience’s willingness to support you, subscription conversion, ads, eligibility, payout conditions, and any personalized program terms—not just the headline share.

How easy is it to start earning?
Kick’s June 2026 creator guidance describes subscription access after five cumulative streaming hours, with the creator then enabling it in the dashboard. That is an access step, not a promise of income or a substitute for meeting any other current account requirements. Check Kick’s creator and Partner guidance for the steps that apply to your account.
Twitch has Affiliate and Partner program levels, but a current Affiliate threshold is not established in the official material available here, so it would be misleading to give a number. Review Twitch’s current Affiliate FAQ before planning around eligibility.

Can you stream on Twitch and Kick at the same time?
Both services have rules that can affect simulcasting. Twitch permits it subject to its Simulcasting Guidelines FAQ and Terms of Service, including restrictions on merging other-platform activity into the Twitch experience and directing Twitch viewers to another live stream.
Kick’s help article describes multistreaming for KICK Partner Program streamers, with an enablement toggle for long-form platforms such as Twitch. Kick says payout is reduced by 50% during sessions when that multistream feature is enabled. Confirm the current requirements and payout treatment in Kick’s multistreaming guidance.

Multistreaming can let you test more than one audience, but it adds practical choices about chat, moderation, and where you direct viewers. Before going live, confirm both platforms’ current terms and any account-specific agreements; do not assume that being permitted on one service means the other has no conditions.

Twitch’s Terms of Service and relevant community rules are the place to check its requirements. Kick’s Community Guidelines, updated March 19, 2026, prohibit categories of harmful content and describe context-based moderation for many cases.

Policy wording does not, by itself, show how consistently rules are enforced or establish which service is safer in practice. Consider the moderation tools and community norms you encounter in your category, and whether you can set and enforce clear boundaries for your own chat.
Which should a beginner choose?
- Start with Twitch if measured audience scale and its established creator feature set matter most to you. A larger platform total does not guarantee your channel will be discovered.
- Consider Kick if its published 95/5 subscription and KICKs split is especially important to your plan, and its community and current terms suit your content.
- Test both where permitted if you can handle the added moderation and chat workload, but account for Kick’s stated payout reduction during enabled Partner Program multistream sessions and Twitch’s simulcast conditions.
For either choice, verify current eligibility, payout terms, and rules before building a schedule or income plan around them. Platform policies and program terms can change.
