Turtle Beach sells two Afterglow controllers for Nintendo Switch 2: a $29.99 wired model with Hall-Effect thumbsticks and a $64.99 wireless model with TMR thumbsticks, motion controls, and a rechargeable battery. Both put translucent shells, four preset RGB lighting modes, a GameChat C Button, and two mappable rear buttons at the center of the design. The choice is chiefly between a lower-cost USB connection and untethered play—not a proven difference in gameplay performance.
Which Afterglow controller is right for you?
Choose the Afterglow Wired Controller for Nintendo Switch 2 if you want the lower listed price, plan to play connected by USB, and do not need motion controls. The Afterglow Wireless Controller for Nintendo Switch 2 costs more but adds wireless play, motion controls, and a rechargeable battery.
Turtle Beach’s US product pages list prices of $29.99 for wired and $64.99 for wireless. Those are page prices, not guaranteed street prices; they can change. Turtle Beach announced the same prices as launch MSRPs in October 2025, with launch planned for late November or early December 2025. That announcement is the manufacturer’s launch notice, not an independent review or Nintendo endorsement.

The company describes wireless range and battery duration as maximums; they are specifications, not independently measured results. The wired page does not list Switch Lite compatibility, so do not assume it from the wireless model’s listing.

What the RGB treatment and controls add
Translucent shells and lighting presets
Both controllers pair translucent shells with four preset RGB lighting modes. The product pages establish that the modes are presets; they do not establish a user-customizable lighting editor or any additional lighting options. The visual treatment is the shared headline feature, rather than a capability that distinguishes the two versions.
C Button and rear buttons
Each model has a C Button for GameChat features and two mappable buttons on the back. Turtle Beach also lists USB chat compatibility for supported games on the wired model. That qualification matters: the listing does not promise chat support in every game or establish universal headset-chat behavior.

Audio on the wired model
The wired controller’s specifications include a 3.5 mm headset jack. That jack is a wired-model feature in the cited listing; it should not be treated as proof of universal chat support, which Turtle Beach limits to supported games.
Hall-Effect versus TMR thumbsticks
Turtle Beach specifies Hall-Effect thumbsticks for the wired model and TMR thumbsticks for the wireless one. It uses performance language about precision, responsiveness, and reduced drift, but the product pages are manufacturer claims. The available information does not establish comparative drift rates, accuracy, latency, or which sensor feels better in play. There is no evidence here to conclude that the more expensive wireless model performs better because it uses TMR, or that Hall-Effect makes the wired model more durable.

The Afterglow range makes its distinction easy to understand: the wired model is the less expensive USB option, while the wireless model adds untethered play, motion controls, and rechargeable power. Both share the translucent RGB styling, C Button, and two mappable rear buttons. The specifications support choosing based on connection and listed features, but they do not support a hands-on judgment about comfort, latency, battery performance in use, or comparative stick quality.
