To turn on subtitles on Paramount+, start a video, open the playback controls, and select the speech-bubble, CC, subtitles, or captions option. Choose a track available for that title. If you use Android, Roku, or a supported smart TV, there may also be an app or device setting to check.
Turn on subtitles in the Paramount+ video player
- Start playing the show, movie, or live program.
- Reveal the playback controls. On a computer or mobile web browser, move the pointer over the video or tap the screen; on a TV, use the remote’s select or OK button.
- Choose the speech-bubble icon or a control labeled CC, Subtitles, or Captions.
- Select an available caption or subtitle track. The options can differ by title, so a particular language may not be offered for every program.
Paramount+ says captions and subtitles can generally be enabled in the video player. See its accessibility feature instructions.

Use the app or device settings if needed
Android app
Paramount+’s Android help article, dated June 21, 2022, gives this route: open the app’s Menu in the upper-left corner, select Settings, then Closed Captions and follow the on-screen instructions. The app’s labels or layout may have changed since that article was published. See Paramount+’s Android caption instructions.

From the Roku home screen, open Settings > Accessibility > Captions Mode and choose On. Roku’s accessibility menu can also be opened during playback by pressing the remote’s asterisk button and choosing Accessibility and Language > Captions. To change how captions look, use Settings > Accessibility > Caption style; on some models, look for Captions and Text if Accessibility is not listed. Menu wording varies by Roku model. Paramount+ also supports turning captions on through its own playback controls. The paths are listed in the Paramount+ accessibility FAQ.

Web and supported smart TVs
On a computer or mobile browser, use the speech-bubble control in the video player. For caption appearance, Paramount+ lists Subtitle Settings under Subtitles + Audio in the settings menu. For supported Samsung, Hisense, Philips, and LG smart TVs, the service directs viewers to open Settings in the Paramount+ app and choose Closed Captions. Other TV brands may put caption options in the device’s accessibility settings. See Paramount+’s accessibility instructions.
Apple TV, Fire TV, and other platforms
Paramount+’s public instructions cited here do not give a reliable menu-by-menu path for every Apple TV, Fire TV, or smart-TV model. First try the captions control in the video player. If it is missing or has no effect, check the device’s accessibility settings and the current Paramount+ help instructions for your platform.

What to check if Paramount+ captions do not appear
- Reopen the playback controls and check that you selected a caption or subtitle track in Paramount+.
- If you are watching on Roku, also check Settings > Accessibility > Captions Mode. An app may manage its own captions and not follow Roku’s system setting. Roku recommends checking both the app’s playback menu and the device setting; see its streaming-app troubleshooting advice.
- Try another episode or title. Caption tracks can differ between programs, so a problem with one track may not affect everything you watch.
- If the issue happens only in Paramount+, contact the service through its Closed Captioning page. Include a description of the issue, your device type, the title and season or episode if applicable, the live channel name if relevant, and your contact information.
