You can watch true-crime channels that stream around the clock on Pluto TV, then play them on a supported smart TV or separate streaming device so your PC can be off. Pluto TV also works in supported desktop browsers, but watching there still requires the PC to remain on. Channel availability varies by region and can change, so check the current live guide before settling in.
Watch Pluto TV on a TV or streaming device
Pluto TV lists a Pluto TV True Crime channel and a More True Crime channel; the latter describes its series as streaming 24 hours a day. Pluto TV’s lineup is subject to change, and the channels available to you may depend on your location and device. Check Pluto TV’s live guide and current channel pages before you start.
Pluto TV supports desktop browsers and a Windows 11 app, as well as connected-TV platforms that include Roku and Fire TV. To turn off your PC during playback, use the Pluto TV app on a supported smart TV or a separate streaming device instead. If you already own a compatible device, try that before buying anything.
Choose where to watch

Pluto TV’s support documentation notes regional platform limits, so confirm current availability for your country and device. A Roku device is one optional way to add streaming apps to a TV; it is not required if you already have a supported smart TV or streaming device.

Set up playback without keeping your PC on
- Check Pluto TV’s current live guide for the true-crime channel you want and confirm it is offered in your region.
- Open Pluto TV on your supported smart TV or separate streaming device, such as a compatible Roku or Fire TV device.
- Select the channel and confirm that the live program plays on that device.
- After playback is working on the TV or streaming device, shut down your PC. Playback is now on the other device, not being streamed by the PC.
If you want to watch on your PC instead, open Pluto TV in a supported, current browser. In that case, the PC needs to remain on for playback.
What if the channel is missing?
Check Pluto TV’s live guide and support information for your location and device. The channel lineup is not a guarantee that every region or platform carries the same programming. If the channel is unavailable where you live, check what legal streaming services are offered in your region rather than assuming a particular channel or device will work.

Do you need cloud DVR?
No. Cloud DVR is an optional way to record eligible programs, not a requirement for watching a live channel without using your PC. Roku says its cloud recordings are stored remotely rather than on the Roku device; eligibility and third-party DVR fees may depend on the service and subscription. Recording does not replace playing the live stream on a separate supported device.

Can I turn off my PC while watching on Pluto TV?
Yes, if playback is running on a supported smart TV or separate streaming device. Watching through a PC browser or Windows app still requires the PC to remain on.
Do I need to buy a Roku or Fire TV device?
Not if you already have a supported smart TV or streaming device with Pluto TV available. Check compatibility and local channel availability before purchasing a device.
