Outbyte Driver Updater FREEScan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Outbyte PC Repair FREEClear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →For property-notification SMS, treat the provider’s message status and your FastAPI app’s stored status as separate things. Twilio can send asynchronous status callbacks or return a message’s current status when you retrieve its Message resource by SID. A practical design is to persist callback updates and let your application’s polling endpoint read that record; fetch from Twilio when you need an explicit check or reconciliation.
What SMS status tells you
When you send a Twilio Programmable Messaging message, Twilio creates a Message resource whose status reflects progress through the outbound lifecycle. Documented outbound statuses include queued, sending, sent, failed, and delivered. The exact sequence can vary by channel and sending setup. See Twilio’s Messages resource documentation for the resource and status details.
sentmeans the nearest upstream carrier accepted the message. It does not confirm that the recipient’s handset received it.deliveredmeans Twilio received delivery confirmation from the upstream carrier and, where available, the destination handset.failedis a provider-reported failure state. Record any supplied error details so an authorized operator can investigate.
Keep these meanings clear in property-management interfaces. For example, a tenant-notice screen should distinguish “sent” from “delivery confirmed,” rather than presenting both as proof that a person received or read the alert.
How to structure FastAPI status polling
Twilio offers two complementary ways to learn a message’s status: asynchronous callbacks to a configured URL, and retrieval of a specific Message resource using its SID. The following local-storage pattern is an application design built around those documented mechanisms, not a feature Twilio provides for your own API.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
- Send the message and save its identifier. Create the outbound message with a message-specific
StatusCallbackURL, or configure a service-level callback. Store the returned Twilio Message SID alongside your own property-event or notification ID. Twilio documents the callback parameter in its Messages resource documentation. - Receive provider callbacks on a public route. Add a FastAPI endpoint that accepts Twilio’s HTTP POST callback. Its form fields can include
MessageStatusand, when applicable,ErrorCode. Fields vary by channel and event and may evolve, so avoid rejecting a callback merely because it contains an additional field. Twilio describes callback setup and payload handling in Track the Message Status of Outbound Messages. - Validate and persist each update. Verify the request signature using Twilio’s SDK-provided validation methods, as Twilio recommends, rather than implementing signature checks from scratch. Associate the update with the saved Message SID and record its status, relevant error details, and receipt time.
- Make callback handling resilient. Twilio warns that network latency can cause callback requests to arrive out of order. Make processing safe to repeat and choose a deliberate policy for stale or conflicting updates; callback arrival order alone is not proof of lifecycle order. Idempotency and transition rules are safeguards for your application, not provider guarantees.
- Expose a separate application polling endpoint. Let a client request status by your own notification ID, then return the latest status stored by your app and when it was updated. Keep message content and recipient phone numbers out of responses unless the caller is authorized to see them.
- Use provider retrieval when appropriate. If you need to check or reconcile a known message directly, retrieve the Message resource using its SID. Twilio documents both callbacks and direct retrieval in its Messaging Webhooks documentation.
What your polling response should mean
Your endpoint reports what your application currently knows, not necessarily an instantaneous view of the provider’s state. A callback may still be in transit, or your app may not yet have reconciled a newer provider status. Include the stored update time and represent a missing or stale update as pending or not yet reconciled. Do not turn the absence of a callback into a failure state.
For a property alert, a useful response can identify the application notification, show the last provider-reported state, and indicate when that state was recorded. Keep access control tied to the property and user relationship: status visibility should not expose another resident’s phone number or message details.

Callbacks or direct retrieval?
| Approach | How it works | Useful when | Key consideration |
|---|---|---|---|
| Status callback | Twilio sends an HTTP POST to your configured endpoint when status information is available. | You want your local record updated asynchronously without having each client query Twilio. | Your endpoint must be publicly reachable, validate signatures, tolerate evolving fields, and handle out-of-order arrivals. |
| Message retrieval | Your application requests a specific Message resource using its SID. | You need an explicit provider check or want to reconcile a local record. | Your application must know the SID and decide when to make the request. |
These are not competing guarantees. Callbacks can keep local state current as events arrive; retrieval can provide an explicit check for a known message. Your design should also decide what to display when neither has yet produced a usable update.

This design is specific to the documented Twilio mechanisms; status values and behavior can vary by channel and sending setup. Amazon SNS also supports publishing an SMS directly to a phone number or to a topic with subscribed endpoints, but the cited SNS Publish API documentation establishes that sending capability, not an equivalent per-message delivery-status polling workflow. Do not assume a provider’s send API implies Twilio-style callbacks or retrieval behavior.
