There is no general TradingView screenshot endpoint established by the documented chart-library methods. If your application embeds TradingView Advanced Charts, its documented screenshot methods let your app capture that chart. If you need a hosted service that returns an image from an HTTP request, that is a separate integration model; it does not automatically reproduce an arbitrary chart on TradingView.com. Choose based on whether you control the chart instance or need a provider to render one.
What “TradingView chart screenshot API” can mean
The phrase is used for two different tasks. One is capturing a chart already rendered inside an application you control. The other is calling a remote service that accepts a request and returns a chart image. They are not interchangeable: TradingView’s documented screenshot methods belong to its charting-library widget, while a hosted provider is a separate product with its own chart types, request limits, output rules, terms, and operational risks.
- Use the chart-library route when your product embeds TradingView Advanced Charts and you want a snapshot of that chart instance.
- Use a hosted chart-image provider when you want to request an image from a separate API rather than capture a chart running in your own page.
- Use a general webpage screenshot API only when the chart is already rendered on a page that the service can access. It captures the page; it does not create a TradingView chart from a symbol and settings.
That distinction matters for reports, alerts, and messaging jobs. A screenshot of a live charting widget is a capture of its rendered state. A provider that renders a chart from request parameters may instead create a chart independently, subject to its own available styles and configuration.
Capture an embedded Advanced Charts chart
TradingView’s Advanced Charts documentation describes two different operations. takeClientScreenshot creates a canvas that your application can convert into an image. The widget interface also documents takeScreenshot, which uploads a snapshot to a configured server and emits a screenshot-ready event containing the resulting URL. The chart library documentation says users can take snapshots through buttons on the top toolbar as well.

Choose client capture or server upload
| Method | What the documented method does | Useful when |
|---|---|---|
takeClientScreenshot |
Creates a canvas for application-controlled output. | Your application needs to handle conversion or subsequent storage itself. |
takeScreenshot |
Uploads the snapshot to a configured server and reports the resulting URL through an event. | Your integration is set up to receive the uploaded snapshot and use its URL. |
These are methods on a charting-library widget, not a documented public endpoint for taking arbitrary screenshots of charts on the TradingView website. They also assume that your application has the relevant chart instance available. The documentation summarized here does not establish a universal initialization recipe, exact method signatures, server-upload configuration, or a complete working code sample; those details depend on the Advanced Charts library version and your integration. Follow the API reference for the version licensed and installed in your project rather than treating a generic browser-capture snippet as a substitute.
Plan the capture workflow
- Render the chart in your application. The screenshot methods apply to the charting-library widget. They do not make an unembedded TradingView.com chart available to your backend.
- Decide where the image should go. With client capture, your application receives a canvas and controls conversion and any later transfer. With
takeScreenshot, the documented flow uploads to a configured server and signals the resulting URL. - Trigger capture only after the chart is in the intended state. For a report or alert, ensure your application has selected the correct symbol, interval, visible range, and overlays before capturing. The screenshot documents the rendered state; it should not be treated as an independent data query.
- Check image handling separately from chart rendering. Your application needs a plan for where images are stored, who can access them, and how long they remain available. The screenshot methods alone do not define your retention or access policy.
If you are building around a private or licensed charting library, verify its distribution and usage terms as part of integration planning. TradingView states that attribution is required when its products are used outside its website, including widgets. Confirm the current requirements for your exact product and deployment before shipping.
Hosted chart screenshot services
A hosted provider receives a request and returns an image or other output without requiring your application to capture its own chart widget. This can suit a server-side workflow, but the service’s chart types and customization options determine what you can render. CHART-IMG advertises REST API products for Mini Chart, Advanced Chart v1, Advanced Chart v2, and Layout Chart. It says its two advanced versions support more than 60 and more than 90 customizable indicators, respectively; those counts are vendor-published claims, not independently verified measurements.

For a general webpage screenshot API, ScreenshotNeo is the first alternative to consider when the chart is already rendered on an accessible page: it removes known consent banners, newsletter popups, and chat widgets before capture, and only clean shots are billed. It is not a TradingView chart-rendering API: it captures a webpage rather than constructing a chart from market symbols or chart parameters. Confirm that the page you need is publicly accessible to the capture request and that its chart has rendered in the browser.

The following figures were listed on CHART-IMG’s product page as accessed September 29, 2026. Prices and allowances can change; confirm the provider’s current page before choosing a plan. The figures are the vendor’s posted limits, not a performance or reliability test.
| Plan | Posted price | Daily requests | Rate limit | Watermark | Maximum resolution |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Basic | $0/month | 50 | 1 request/second | Yes | 800 × 600 |
| Pro | $7/month | 500 | 10 requests/second | No | 1920 × 1080 |
| Mega | $10/month | 1,000 | 15 requests/second | No | 1920 × 1600 |
| Ultra | $20/month | 3,000 | 35 requests/second | No | 2048 × 1920 |
These limits answer only part of the integration question. Before relying on a hosted API, also establish the accepted parameters, the exact output format, behavior when a request is throttled, and how errors are returned. The plan table does not establish those details.
Compare the integration choices before building
| Approach | What it captures or renders | Best fit | Important qualification |
|---|---|---|---|
| ScreenshotNeo | A screenshot of a webpage that the service can load, including a chart already rendered there. | Capturing an accessible chart page without setting up your own browser-capture workflow. | It does not create a chart from TradingView symbols or chart settings. Clean shots are billed; bot checks, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads, and cache hits are not. |
| TradingView Advanced Charts screenshot methods | The chart rendered by your charting-library widget. | An application that embeds and controls the relevant chart instance. | The methods are library/widget operations, not a general screenshot endpoint for TradingView.com. |
| CHART-IMG | Chart images through the vendor’s advertised REST API product types. | A developer looking for a separate hosted chart-image service and a fit among its offered chart types and plans. | Plan details and features are vendor claims. Its terms say uptime is not guaranteed; verify current terms and suitability for your use. |
For an embedded widget, application control is the decisive advantage: the method captures the chart instance your product already displays. For a server-side image from a hosted renderer, compare the provider’s supported chart styles, output dimensions, request limits, and license terms. For a webpage capture, first confirm that the chart can render on the target page without a login, anti-bot challenge, or other access barrier.

Rights, licensing, and attribution
Do not assume that permission to view a chart also grants permission to redistribute its image or market data. TradingView says attribution is required when its products are used outside its website, including widgets. Check the terms applicable to your use and the terms of any underlying data provider.

The terms also prohibit resale without explicit approval and do not guarantee uptime. The stated terms page was updated January 19, 2022, so check whether newer terms apply before making a commercial or resale decision. A hosted API’s paid plan price by itself does not establish that a particular use is licensed.
Performance, reliability, and cost
For a chart-library capture, your application controls the rendered chart and capture flow; it must also handle image conversion, transfer, and storage as needed. The screenshot method does not by itself define those application-level costs or retention rules. A hosted service moves rendering and image delivery into a provider workflow, but adds a dependency on that provider’s service limits and terms.
Rank #4
- Estimate volume against the actual allowance. For CHART-IMG, compare projected daily requests and peak request rate with the posted plan limits rather than comparing monthly price alone.
- Account for resolution and watermarks. A plan may meet request volume but still be unsuitable if its maximum dimensions or watermark policy do not fit the report or interface.
- Design for failures. CHART-IMG’s terms do not guarantee uptime, so do not make a critical alert or reporting workflow depend on an assumption of uninterrupted service. Define what your application does if image generation fails.
- Separate capture from retention. Decide whether snapshots are transient or stored, who can retrieve them, and how they are removed. The provider descriptions here do not settle those application-specific questions.
There is no independent performance comparison in the available provider information, so no throughput or uptime ranking is justified. Test the specific chart, output dimensions, request pattern, and destination that your product will use before depending on the workflow operationally.

If your task is to capture a rendered webpage rather than create a TradingView chart from API parameters, ScreenshotNeo can take the screenshot through one GET request. It is a website screenshot API and MCP server from Yorker Media. The example below targets TradingView’s chart route; the result depends on what that page makes available to an unauthenticated browser session. A general chart screenshot service is not a workaround for access controls, chart licensing, or a need to select a symbol and settings through a chart-rendering API.

The full list of request options is in the ScreenshotNeo documentation. The API returns an image or PDF; this example saves the response body as a WebP-named file. Use a page URL that is accessible and renders the chart state you actually need.

Troubleshooting common problems
- The TradingView chart is not available through a simple URL call. A chart-library screenshot method requires the widget in your application. A webpage screenshot request captures only what its browser can load at the requested page; it does not invoke Advanced Charts methods.
- The image shows a banner, popup, or chat widget. In a self-managed chart page, these elements may be part of the rendered page and need to be handled by your application. ScreenshotNeo removes known consent platforms, newsletter popups, and chat widgets before capture; each cleanup step can be turned off.
- The capture is blank or incomplete. Confirm that the page loads and that the chart is rendered before capture. For an embedded library workflow, confirm that the intended chart state exists before invoking the screenshot method. The available provider information does not specify a universal wait setting or guaranteed recovery behavior.
- A hosted request is rejected or throttled. Compare the request volume and rate with the selected plan’s posted limits, then confirm the provider’s current error and retry guidance. The plan figures above are not a substitute for the vendor’s response documentation.
- You can create an image but cannot use it commercially. Recheck the applicable chart attribution, data-provider terms, and hosted provider license. In particular, CHART-IMG’s stated personal-use and enterprise distinctions should not be assumed to grant resale rights.
Which route should you choose?
If your application embeds Advanced Charts and you need a snapshot of that exact chart, use the library’s documented capture method and follow the reference for the version you run. If you need a hosted chart renderer, evaluate a specialized provider’s available chart types, rate limits, dimensions, licensing, and operational terms. If the chart already exists on a webpage and your need is to capture that page, a screenshot API such as ScreenshotNeo is the simpler category of tool to assess first—but it is a webpage capture, not a TradingView chart-generation endpoint.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I export a chart image directly from the TradingView website with these API methods?
The documented methods discussed here apply to an Advanced Charts charting-library widget. They do not establish a general public screenshot API for arbitrary charts on TradingView.com.
Does a webpage screenshot API let me choose a TradingView symbol or interval?
Not by itself. It captures what the target page renders; selecting chart data or settings requires a charting integration or a provider that explicitly supports those parameters.
