The TP-Link Omada EAP772-Outdoor is a business-focused, outdoor Wi-Fi 7 access point with 2.4, 5, and 6 GHz radios, six spatial streams, and a single 2.5GbE uplink powered by 802.3at PoE+. TP-Link described it at launch as Omada’s first tri-band, six-stream omnidirectional outdoor access point—not the industry’s first of its kind. Its US BE11000 label and 6 GHz operation are not universal: the EU datasheet lists BE9300, and 6 GHz availability depends on local rules and AFC support.
What is the EAP772-Outdoor?
Announced by TP-Link on May 15, 2025, the EAP772-Outdoor is an access point for extending a centrally managed Omada network to outdoor and outbuilding areas, including business parks, hotels, yards, farms, parking lots, and garages. It supports Wi-Fi 7 (IEEE 802.11be) across 2.4, 5, and 6 GHz, with six spatial streams and an omnidirectional design. TP-Link’s launch announcement called it Omada’s first tri-band, six-stream omnidirectional outdoor AP. That “first” claim applies to Omada’s product line.
TP-Link’s US product materials list a combined wireless rate of 10,777 Mbps and market the device as BE11000, rounded in the launch announcement to “up to 11 Gbps.” That is an aggregate theoretical rate across bands, not the speed a single client should expect. Client capabilities, channel width, local regulations, network conditions, obstacles, and distance all affect real throughput. TP-Link’s US product page cautions that wireless throughput and coverage are not guaranteed.
How do the US and EU versions differ?
Regional labeling and permitted radio operation matter when evaluating the advertised rate. TP-Link’s 2026 datasheet identifies the US version as BE11000 and the EU version as BE9300, with the EU rate listed as up to 9.3 Gbps. Do not assume the US designation or its full set of band capabilities applies in every country. The 2026 datasheet distinguishes the regional versions.

- Tri-Band Six-Stream Outdoor WiFi 7: Up to 9.3 Gbps.
TP-Link says AFC (Automated Frequency Coordination) enables outdoor use of the 6 GHz band, while availability varies by country or region. Check the local rules and the exact regional model before planning around outdoor 6 GHz. TP-Link’s statement that AFC “unlocked” the band is vendor language, not a guarantee that 6 GHz is available in every deployment.
What does it take to install and power the EAP772-Outdoor?
The unit has one 2.5G RJ45 Ethernet port and supports 802.3at PoE. The switch or injector therefore needs to provide compatible PoE+ power, and its uplink connection should support 2.5GbE if you want to avoid limiting the AP’s wired connection to a lower link rate. TP-Link lists maximum PoE consumption of 23 W for the US version and 21.5 W for the EU version in its current US product specifications. Allow for the AP’s maximum draw when checking the switch’s available PoE budget, particularly if other devices share it. See TP-Link’s specifications for the listed power details.

- Long Range WiFi Coverage: Dual-band omnidirectional design delivers strong, seamless signal for whole area coverage
TP-Link supports wall and pole mounting. The enclosure is rated IP68, but the manufacturer’s published immersion descriptions differ: the launch announcement and 2026 datasheet say water deeper than five feet for more than 30 minutes, while the product page says up to 1.5 meters (4.5 feet) for up to one hour. Treat IP68 as the stated rating, and consult the applicable documentation for the exact model rather than combining those descriptions into a single guarantee. The listed operating temperature range is -30°C to 70°C.
How much area can one EAP772-Outdoor cover?
TP-Link recommends 300 m² (3,200 ft²) of omnidirectional coverage. This is a manufacturer recommendation, not a measured guarantee for a particular site. Buildings, trees, terrain, mounting height, obstacles, client devices, traffic density, and AP placement can change both coverage and throughput. A broad open area may behave differently from a yard bordered by buildings or a parking lot with substantial obstructions.

- Switchable Directional and Omnidirectional Antennas: Supports focused point coverage or wide-area outdoor coverage by switching antenna modes on software.
- Plug & Play Automatic Antenna Detection: Automatically detects when external antennas are installed and adjusts the coverage pattern accordingly.
- 4-Stream Outdoor Wi-Fi 7: Delivers high-speed outdoor connectivity up to 5 Gbps
- True Dual-Band Coverage: 3,229 ft2 (300 m2) omnidirectional and 5,500 ft2 (510 m2) directional recommended coverage
- 1× 2.5G PoE Port: Flexible PoE deployment reduces costs by delivering power and data over a single Ethernet cable.
For a larger or irregular property, plan placement around the locations where people and devices need service, then check coverage on site. Do not assume one AP will cover the recommended area uniformly or deliver the same performance at its edges; TP-Link notes that actual results vary with environmental and client factors.
What Omada features require a controller?
The EAP772-Outdoor can be adopted and centrally managed through Omada SDN. TP-Link specifies that features including mesh, seamless roaming, cloud access, and captive portal require an Omada controller. If any of these are essential, confirm the controller and feature requirements for the intended setup before installation. A controller requirement is separate from the AP’s radio and PoE requirements.

Is the EAP772-Outdoor a good fit for your network?
It is a plausible fit when you need an outdoor AP that can join a managed Omada network, have compatible PoE+ available, and can use a 2.5GbE uplink. Its tri-band design may be useful where 6 GHz outdoor operation is permitted and supported locally. For deployments that rely on a particular coverage area, verify placement and client needs rather than treating the advertised rate or coverage figure as a promise.
