TP-Link announced regional preorders for the Archer 8 Ultra on September 30, 2026. The tri-band Wi-Fi 8 router is rated for up to 19 Gbps of combined wireless speed. UK preorder coverage put the price at about £670, with a later price of £899.99; $900 is a rough conversion, not an announced US price. TP-Link has not announced a US price or launch date.
How much does the Archer 8 Ultra cost, and where can you preorder it?
TP-Link’s September 30 announcement named the United Kingdom, Germany, Australia, Canada, and other markets for preorders, with more regions and pricing to follow. It did not state US pricing or a US launch date. TP-Link’s launch announcement is the primary source for the announced availability.
UK pricing differs slightly between reports: TechRadar reported a £669.99 preorder price that later rises to £899.99, while Digital Citizen reported a UK listing at £669.98 and described it as roughly $900. TechRadar reported Australian preorder pricing of AU$1,499.99. These reported prices are regional and should not be read as a confirmed US retail price.

What does the 19 Gbps rating mean?
The Archer 8 Ultra is a tri-band router with up to 19 Gbps of aggregate wireless speed. That is the combined rating across its bands, not a promise that one phone, laptop, or other client will download at 19 Gbps. Actual results depend on the client’s capabilities, network setup, surroundings, and interference.
TP-Link identifies the model as Archer 8 Ultra BN19000 (Archer BN800) and names Broadcom as the chipset provider. The hardware includes 18 internal antennas, two auto-sensing 10 Gbps WAN/LAN ports, and four 2.5 Gbps LAN ports. This wired capacity may matter independently of Wi-Fi 8 adoption, particularly for fast wired connections and local network devices.

- Next-Gen Gigabit Wi-Fi 6 Speeds: 2402 Mbps on 5 GHz and 574 Mbps on 2.4 GHz bands ensure smoother streaming and faster downloads; support VPN server and VPN client¹
- A More Responsive Experience: Enjoy smooth gaming, video streaming, and live feeds simultaneously. OFDMA makes your Wi-Fi stronger by allowing multiple clients to share one band at the same time, cutting latency and jitter.²
- Expanded Wi-Fi Coverage: 4 high-gain external antennas and Beamforming technology combine to extend strong, reliable, Wi-Fi throughout your home.
- Improved Battery Life: Target Wake Time helps your devices to communicate efficiently while consuming less power.
- Improved Cooling Design: No heat ups, no throttles. A larger heat sink and redefined case design cools the WiFi 6 system and enables your network to stay at top speeds in more versatile environments.
What Wi-Fi 8 features does TP-Link claim?
TP-Link describes Wi-Fi 8 as targeting more consistent performance at range, under interference, and when devices compete for network resources, while retaining high aggregate speeds. The Archer’s named feature set is StabilityEngine. TP-Link says UEQM, new MCS, and 2×LDPC are available at launch; DSO, ELR, DRU, Co-TDMA, Co-SR, and Co-BF are planned for over-the-air updates as the standard matures.

Outbyte Driver Updater FREEFix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Outbyte PC Repair FREEClear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →TP-Link reports “up to 33% more consistent throughput at mid-to-long ranges” and “up to 24% more consistent throughput than Wi-Fi 7 under interference,” based on its own 2026 internal testing. These are manufacturer-reported maximum figures under controlled conditions, not independent benchmark results. TP-Link says real-world performance varies with the network, devices, environment, and interference. No independent benchmark or hands-on test is established in the launch coverage.

- DUAL-BAND WIFI 6 ROUTER: Wi-Fi 6(802.11ax) technology achieves faster speeds, greater capacity and reduced network congestion compared to the previous gen. All WiFi routers require a separate modem. Dual-Band WiFi routers do not support the 6 GHz band.
- AX1800: Enjoy smoother and more stable streaming, gaming, downloading with 1.8 Gbps total bandwidth (up to 1200 Mbps on 5 GHz and up to 574 Mbps on 2.4 GHz). Performance varies by conditions, distance to devices, and obstacles such as walls.
- CONNECT MORE DEVICES: Wi-Fi 6 technology communicates more data to more devices simultaneously using revolutionary OFDMA technology
- EXTENSIVE COVERAGE: Achieve the strong, reliable WiFi coverage with Archer AX1800 as it focuses signal strength to your devices far away using Beamforming technology, 4 high-gain antennas and an advanced front-end module (FEM) chipset
- OUR CYBERSECURITY COMMITMENT: TP-Link is a signatory of the U.S. Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency’s (CISA) Secure-by-Design pledge. This device is designed, built, and maintained, with advanced security as a core requirement.
Is Wi-Fi 8 worth it now?
The decision depends on whether you need the router’s wired capacity or want to adopt the next wireless generation early. TechRadar reported on September 30 that consumer Wi-Fi 8 client hardware was not yet available. Existing Wi-Fi 7 or earlier devices can connect, but they do not gain Wi-Fi 8 hardware capabilities; TechRadar notes they may still see some benefits.
- Consider it if you have a present need for its high-speed wired ports, or are comfortable paying a premium to adopt early.
- Wait if your main reason to buy is Wi-Fi 8 performance for client devices, since suitable consumer clients were not yet available in the cited launch coverage.
- Check your coverage needs: TP-Link estimates up to 3,600 square feet of coverage, or 3,000 square feet in the EU, and support for up to 200 devices. These are maximum estimates, not guarantees; actual results depend on the network, device mix, environment, and interference.
Should you use one router or wait for a mesh system?
The Archer 8 Ultra is a standalone router. If your home needs multiple access points rather than one router’s estimated coverage, TP-Link’s IFA announcement listed a Deco 8 mesh system for Q1 2027. It also listed the Roam 8 travel router and Wi-Fi 8 range extenders and adapters for Q2 2027. Those are planned windows, not confirmation of current availability; TP-Link says products, schedules, and specifications may vary by region or change. See TP-Link’s IFA announcement for the plans.
