Listed prices are generally in USD before applicable taxes, and annual, promotional, or regional pricing may differ.

How does podcast hosting work?
A podcast host stores episode media, creates and maintains the show’s RSS feed, provides a publishing dashboard, and reports audience analytics. The RSS feed contains the show title, artwork, episode information, and media URLs that podcast directories use to display and play the show.
#1 Best Overall

Most hosts also provide a basic podcast website, an embeddable player, directory-submission assistance, or monetization features. The exact mix varies substantially. Apple’s official provider directory separates support for show submission, subscriptions, chapters, transcripts, video, and dynamic advertising rather than treating podcast hosting as one standard capability.
Podcast hosting is not the same as recording or editing. Riverside, SquadCast, Zoom, or local recording software can capture an interview; Descript, Hindenburg, Adobe Audition, GarageBand, and similar tools can edit it. Apple Podcasts, Spotify, YouTube Music, and Amazon Music are listening or distribution destinations, not interchangeable replacements for an independent RSS host.
An all-in-one product can reduce tool switching, but an all-in-one dashboard is not automatically best at recording, editing, hosting, analytics, video, newsletters, or memberships. Choose the workflow first and the vendor second.

| Publishing limits | 15% | Upload hours, storage, downloads, bandwidth, file size, and video allowances. |

| Website and player | 5% | Customization, embeds, domains, accessibility, and calls to action. |
The winners below are therefore use-case recommendations, not an objective claim that one platform has the highest score in every category.
1. Buzzsprout: best podcast host for beginners
Buzzsprout is the best fit for a first-time podcaster who wants an understandable paid workflow and does not need unlimited publishing. Its approachable dashboard, onboarding, podcast website, embeddable player, distribution assistance, and paid-plan analytics make the initial launch less intimidating.
- Best for: First-time and solo creators who publish on a predictable schedule.
- Strengths: Simple publishing, beginner-friendly documentation, website and player tools, analytics, and monetization features.
- Trade-off: Pricing is tied to monthly upload-hour tiers rather than unlimited publishing.
- Watch before subscribing: Include interviews, bonus episodes, trailers, and replacement uploads when calculating monthly hours. Check how long episodes remain available and which analytics or monetization features belong to each tier.
- Poor fit: Daily publishers, very long-form shows, or creators who expect frequent video uploads.
Buzzsprout’s official pricing page is the authoritative place to verify the current upload-hour tiers, archive rules, trial conditions, and included features before purchase.

2. Spotify for Creators: best free podcast hosting
Spotify for Creators is the strongest free starting point for creators who accept a Spotify-centered workflow. Current comparison coverage describes free, unlimited audio and video hosting, Spotify-native publishing and engagement, and monetization options within the Spotify ecosystem.
- Best for: New creators testing a concept, Spotify-first shows, and anyone minimizing upfront cost.
- Strengths: Free entry, audio and video hosting, mobile-friendly publishing, and native Spotify audience tools.
- Trade-off: External distribution is less automatic than many RSS-first hosts. Creators may need to enable the RSS feed and submit it to Apple Podcasts and other directories themselves.
- Watch before subscribing: Check country-specific monetization eligibility, payment availability, branding controls, analytics depth, and current platform terms.
- Poor fit: A business that needs neutral RSS-first control, advanced sponsor reporting, or maximum independence from a single listening ecosystem.
Spotify for Creators should not be evaluated using assumptions about its former Anchor branding. Start with the current Spotify for Creators product entry point and verify how RSS activation and external directory submission work for the account’s country.

3. Transistor: best for multiple shows and private podcasts
Transistor is a strong choice for businesses, agencies, and networks that need several public or private podcasts under one account. Its positioning emphasizes multiple shows, private podcasting, team workflows, and professional analytics rather than the lowest possible price.
- Best for: Agencies, companies, internal podcasts, and creators planning multiple brands.
- Strengths: Multiple podcasts, private feeds, team-oriented administration, shared account infrastructure, and professional publishing tools.
- Trade-off: Current comparison coverage places the starting signal around $19 per month, and entry plans may include download allowances.
- Watch before subscribing: Confirm the number of shows, users, downloads, private feeds, and analytics retention included at the selected tier.
- Poor fit: A hobbyist who needs only one inexpensive public feed.
Use Transistor’s official pricing page to verify current plan names and allowances. Do not assume that a platform designed for multiple shows also includes native video hosting; verify the current video workflow separately.
4. Captivate: best for audience growth and creator teams
Captivate is best for a growth-focused show that needs marketing, attribution, sponsor-facing materials, and collaboration tools alongside hosting. Captivate combines podcast websites and customizable players with growth and monetization features, private podcasting, team collaboration, and IAB-certified analytics according to current comparison coverage.
- Best for: Independent brands, agencies, teams, and creators actively building an audience.
- Strengths: Marketing links, calls to action, sponsor-kit tools, attribution, team features, private feeds, and analytics.
- Trade-off: Growth tooling can be unnecessary for a casual personal show.
- Watch before subscribing: The official page advertises plans starting at $19 per month, but confirm whether the displayed amount is monthly, annual, promotional, or region-specific and inspect the download threshold.
- Poor fit: A low-volume creator who values the lowest monthly price over audience-building features.
Check Captivate’s official pricing page for current billing terms, download allowances, seats, and monetization inclusions. IAB certification can help a sponsor-funded show present standardized reporting, but certification does not guarantee better audience insight or advertising revenue.
5. Castos: best for WordPress and private podcasts
Castos is the best fit for a WordPress publisher, membership community, or organization that needs podcast hosting integrated with a WordPress site. Its Seriously Simple Podcasting integration, private podcast tools, multiple-show workflows, and unlimited publishing on relevant paid plans are its main differentiators.
- Best for: WordPress sites, paid communities, internal podcasts, and creators who dislike monthly upload-hour limits.
- Strengths: WordPress integration, private feeds, multiple shows, unlimited publishing on relevant plans, and website-connected workflows.
- Trade-off: Current comparison coverage places paid pricing around $19 per month to start, and video is plan-dependent.
- Watch before subscribing: Separate unlimited uploads from storage, bandwidth, downloads, video, users, and private-feed limits.
- Poor fit: Creators without WordPress who do not need private podcasting or site integration.
Review Castos’s official pricing page for current limits. WordPress integration does not remove responsibility for site security, backups, plugin maintenance, or performance. Castos’s comparison material is vendor-owned, so use it for product evidence rather than as neutral proof that Castos is the overall winner.

6. RSS.com: best budget-friendly RSS-first option
RSS.com is a compelling budget-oriented choice for creators who want an independent RSS feed and do not want publishing volume to determine the basic hosting decision. Relevant plans emphasize unlimited audio publishing, broad distribution, a podcast website, analytics, and video or monetization features on supported tiers.
- Best for: Budget-conscious creators, independent RSS-first shows, and podcasts with uncertain or high upload volume.
- Strengths: Unlimited audio publishing on relevant plans, broad directory support, website tools, analytics, and optional video or monetization.
- Trade-off: Advanced video and monetization may require a higher plan.
- Watch before subscribing: “Unlimited” may apply to audio uploads but not storage, bandwidth, downloads, video, file size, users, or the number of shows.
- Poor fit: Teams requiring highly advanced enterprise permissions or a deeply customized advertising stack.
Current comparison coverage places RSS.com paid pricing around $11.99–$12.99 per month depending on billing or plan presentation. Confirm the exact current amount and conditions on RSS.com’s official pricing page.
7. Podbean: best all-in-one audio and video option
Podbean is the best all-in-one option for creators who want audio hosting, video, mobile publishing, and monetization in one dashboard. Podbean offers podcast websites and players, mobile recording or publishing tools, advertising, memberships, premium content, and paid-plan analytics according to current comparison coverage.

- Blue VO!CE software: Elevate your streamings and recordings with clear broadcast vocal sound and entertain your audience with enhanced effects, advanced modulation and HD audio samples
- Four pickup patterns: Flexible cardioid, omni, bidirectional, and stereo pickup patterns allow you to record in ways that would normally require multiple mics, for vocals, instruments and podcasts

- Positionable design: Pivot the mic in relation to the sound source to optimize your sound quality thanks to the adjustable desktop stand and track your voice in real time with no-latency monitoring
- Best for: Mobile-first creators, video podcasters, and shows wanting built-in monetization options.
- Strengths: Audio and video workflows, mobile tools, websites, players, advertising, memberships, and premium content.
- Trade-off: A feature-rich interface can feel less streamlined than a beginner-focused host.
- Watch before subscribing: Distinguish audio storage from video storage, upload limits, file-size limits, and plan-specific monetization.
- Poor fit: A creator who wants a minimal interface and already has separate video, recording, and membership systems.
Current comparison coverage places paid plans at roughly $12 per month, but audio and video offerings can differ. Use Podbean’s official product page to verify the current monthly or annual plan structure and monetization eligibility.
8. Libsyn: best established infrastructure
Libsyn is a strong choice for an established show that values mature infrastructure, predictable download delivery, and advertising tools more than unlimited monthly publishing. Current comparison coverage describes plans beginning around $12 per month, monthly upload-hour tiers, no download limits on the plans discussed, and advanced IAB-certified analytics.
- Best for: Established podcasts with predictable production volume and significant listener demand.
- Strengths: Longstanding hosting infrastructure, advertising and monetization capabilities, analytics, and download-focused plan packaging.
- Trade-off: Monthly upload-hour limits can constrain long episodes, frequent publishing, or video-heavy production.
- Watch before subscribing: Current comparison coverage describes upload tiers ranging from approximately 3 to 55 hours depending on plan; verify the exact tier, storage, video, and advertising conditions.
- Poor fit: Daily publishers or creators seeking a modern unlimited-upload workflow at the lowest price.
Check Libsyn’s official pricing page rather than comparing its upload-hour model directly with a competitor’s “unlimited” claim. Upload hours, storage, downloads, and bandwidth measure different constraints.
9. Simplecast: best for professional publishing and analytics
Simplecast is best for professional shows, brands, publishers, and networks that need polished publishing, analytics, embeddable players, and advertising technology. Simplecast supports distribution to major listening platforms and offers professional workflow features, with AdsWizz-related advertising capabilities for organizations operating at a more advanced level.
- Best for: Media companies, brands, networks, and professional podcast teams.
- Strengths: Publishing workflow, analytics, players, distribution, and professional advertising infrastructure.
- Trade-off: The cost may not make sense for a small hobby show.
- Watch before subscribing: Simplecast states that dynamic advertising and monetization may require the Professional plan or a sales conversation.
- Poor fit: A solo creator seeking inexpensive basic RSS hosting.
Read Simplecast’s official pricing information for current plan availability and advertising qualification. A sales-led feature is not the same as a feature included in the lowest self-serve tier.

RedCircle is the best alternative for an independent creator who prioritizes advertising, listener support, and creator-focused monetization tools. RedCircle’s appeal is its monetization orientation rather than WordPress integration, enterprise permissions, or the most elaborate private-podcast administration.
- Best for: Independent shows comparing advertising marketplaces, listener support, and early revenue options.
- Strengths: Creator-economy tools, advertising, subscriptions or listener support, and monetization-focused positioning.
- Trade-off: Revenue tools do not guarantee sponsors, eligible listeners, or meaningful income.
- Watch before subscribing: Eligibility can depend on geography, audience size, category, advertiser demand, and platform terms. Verify fees and distribution responsibilities.
- Poor fit: Teams needing extensive permissions, enterprise publishing controls, or sophisticated private-feed management.
Apple’s provider directory currently lists RedCircle as supporting subscriptions, transcripts, video, and dynamic audio advertising, but not Apple show submission through the listed integration. That distinction means RedCircle may support monetization features without automatically handling every directory-submission task.
Which podcast host is best for monetization?
The best monetization host depends on the revenue model, because dynamic advertising, host-read sponsorships, marketplaces, listener donations, paid subscriptions, and private premium feeds are not the same product.
| Monetization goal | Platforms worth comparing | What to verify |
|---|---|---|
| Independent advertising and listener support | RedCircle | Eligibility, geography, fees, advertiser availability, and payout terms. |
| Memberships and premium content | Podbean | Payment processing, plan limits, platform fees, and subscriber access after cancellation. |
| Growth and sponsor materials | Captivate | Media kits, attribution, download thresholds, and analytics reporting. |
| Established ad marketplace or network | Acast, Libsyn, Simplecast | Sales support, audience requirements, dynamic insertion, revenue share, and geography. |
| Private paid or internal feeds | Castos, Transistor, Captivate | Authentication, subscriber management, access control, and exportability. |
A marketplace or dynamic-ad tool does not mean advertisers are waiting for every show. Audience size, country, category, inventory, advertiser demand, platform fees, and eligibility rules determine whether a monetization feature produces revenue.

What is the best podcast host for video?
The best video podcast host depends on whether the provider stores native video, supports video RSS or HLS, publishes to Spotify, integrates with YouTube, or merely creates an audiogram. Those workflows are not equivalent.
| Video need | Platforms to investigate | Critical question |
|---|---|---|
| Free audio and video hosting | Spotify for Creators | Does the current account and country support the required video workflow and external distribution? |
| Audio, video, mobile, and monetization in one dashboard | Podbean | What video storage, file-size, and plan limits apply? |
| RSS-first publishing with video options | RSS.com | Is video included in the selected plan, and where can the feed be distributed? |
| Professional or network video workflow | Acast, Libsyn, Simplecast | Is video native, plan-dependent, sales-led, or handled through another service? |
Apple’s provider directory tracks video support by provider, but the directory listing should be treated as a starting point rather than proof that two providers offer identical formats, limits, or YouTube workflows.
Before choosing a video host, confirm whether the platform uploads a real video file, creates a static-image video, sends an RSS feed to YouTube, publishes through an API, requires a separate YouTube channel, and supports thumbnails, captions, chapters, and descriptions.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. What are the real podcast hosting pricing limits?
The advertised monthly price is only one part of the cost. A show publishing one 30-minute episode weekly has different requirements from a daily show, a weekly two-hour interview, a video podcast, or a three-show network.
| Limit | What it means | Who is most affected |
|---|---|---|
| Upload limit | How much new media can be published during a billing period. | Long-form, frequent, and bonus-episode publishers. |
| Storage limit | How much media can remain hosted. | Long-running shows and video-heavy libraries. |
| Download or bandwidth limit | How much listener traffic the plan supports. | Shows experiencing rapid growth or viral episodes. |
| Show limit | How many separate RSS feeds the account can manage. | Agencies, networks, and businesses. |
| User or seat limit | How many people can administer the account. | Teams and client-service agencies. |
| File-size or video limit | How large an individual upload or video library can be. | Video podcasters and high-bitrate productions. |
“Unlimited hosting” may still exclude unlimited uploads, video, downloads, bandwidth, shows, team members, private feeds, file sizes, analytics retention, or monetization access. Ask what exactly is unlimited before comparing an unlimited plan with an upload-hour plan.
For planning purposes, estimate the show’s monthly production as follows: episode length multiplied by the number of published episodes, plus trailers, bonus episodes, and replacements. Then separately estimate expected downloads, storage growth, video file size, and number of administrators. The cheapest entry tier is not necessarily the cheapest plan at the show’s actual scale.
What should you know before choosing a free podcast host?
A free host can be an excellent way to test a concept, but free hosting is not always neutral. Check whether the service supplies an independent RSS feed, whether external directory submission is manual, whether analytics are basic, whether branding is restricted, and whether monetization is limited or controlled by the platform.
Spotify for Creators is especially attractive when the intended audience is already on Spotify. RSS.com may be more suitable when independent RSS control and broad distribution matter more than a Spotify-native workflow. A time-limited trial should never be confused with a free-forever plan.
How do upload limits, storage limits, and download limits differ?
Upload limits restrict new media published during a month, storage limits restrict the total archive retained, and download or bandwidth limits restrict listener traffic. The three limits are not interchangeable.

Records each mic to its own track so you can edit with precision, and keep every conversation crystal clear. The device also captures audio and video in perfect sync directly on the camera, eliminating the need for post-production alignment. (Note: Camera/Lightning accessories are sold separately.)

A weekly two-hour interview show may exceed an upload-hour allowance even with a modest audience. A short show that suddenly becomes popular may remain below its upload allowance but exceed downloads or bandwidth. A video show may reach storage or file-size limits long before an audio-only show does.
How should you migrate a podcast to a new host?
A safe migration preserves the existing RSS identity and redirects directories to the new feed; moving media alone is not enough. Apple states that creators can change providers without interrupting subscribers when the RSS redirect is configured correctly.
- Export or copy the existing RSS feed and record the current feed URL.
- Import the show and episode media into the new host.
- Verify titles, descriptions, artwork, GUIDs, publication dates, episode links, and explicit-content settings.
- Validate the new RSS feed before changing directories.
- Configure the old host’s permanent redirect, normally a 301 redirect where supported.
- Update directories that require a new feed submission or verification.
- Keep the old hosting account active during the transition.
- Test the feed in Apple Podcasts, Spotify, YouTube, and other important directories.
- Confirm whether subscriber counts, episode histories, private-feed memberships, and historical analytics transfer; do not assume they will.
- Cancel the old plan only after the redirect, directory updates, and playback tests are confirmed.
Migration risk is highest when a creator cancels the old host before setting the redirect. The RSS feed may stop resolving, episode media may disappear, and directory updates may become harder to complete.

Which podcast host should a long-form, frequent, viral, private, or international show choose?
| Situation | Prioritize | Potential fits |
|---|---|---|
| Long episodes | Upload hours, maximum file size, bitrate guidance, storage, and separate video limits. | RSS.com, Castos, Podbean, or a high-hour Libsyn plan, depending on the workflow. |
| Daily publishing | Unlimited or high upload allowances, scheduling, bulk publishing, templates, and predictable pricing. | RSS.com or Castos; verify exact plan limits. |
| Sudden viral growth | Download and bandwidth caps, overage charges, suspension policy, analytics continuity, and easy upgrades. | Libsyn, Simplecast, or another host whose traffic terms match the expected risk. |
| Paid episodes | Private RSS, authentication, payments, fees, Apple subscription support, and subscriber portability. | Castos, Transistor, Captivate, Podbean, or RedCircle. |
| Internal company podcast | Private feeds, access control, employee authentication, roles, analytics, SSO, security, and retention. | Transistor, Castos, or Captivate, subject to enterprise requirements. |
| International creator | Country availability, payment methods, advertising coverage, taxes, currencies, and subscription eligibility. | Compare the provider’s terms for the creator’s actual country. |
What about Acast and Riverside?
Acast is a credible alternative for established shows, ad sales, and podcast networks, but its capabilities may be excessive for a small solo creator with no immediate advertising ambition. Current comparison coverage places paid entry-level hosting around $14.99 per month, but the current plan and sales structure should be verified before publication.
Riverside is relevant when recording, editing, repurposing, and hosting together matters more than choosing a traditional RSS-first host. Current comparison coverage lists a paid Pro starting signal around $24 per month. Riverside is a poor fit when a creator already has a recording and editing workflow and only needs inexpensive RSS hosting.
These platforms belong in the wider buying decision, but neither should automatically displace the ten use-case recommendations above.
Final decision tree
- Need free hosting? Start with Spotify for Creators, then confirm RSS activation and external directory submission.
- Need the easiest paid workflow? Choose Buzzsprout if monthly upload-hour tiers fit the schedule.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I change podcast hosting platforms without losing subscribers?
Yes. A podcast can generally move without interrupting subscribers when the new feed is imported accurately and the old host supplies a correctly configured permanent RSS redirect. Keep the old account active until directory updates and playback tests are complete.

Spotify for Creators provides free hosting and a Spotify-native workflow, but creators distributing beyond Spotify may need to activate the RSS feed and submit it to other directories themselves. The workflow and monetization eligibility can vary by country.
Does unlimited podcast hosting mean unlimited downloads and video?
No. Unlimited hosting may refer only to audio uploads or storage. Downloads, bandwidth, video, file size, number of shows, users, private feeds, analytics, and monetization can still have separate limits.
What is the best podcast host for a video podcast?
Podbean, Spotify for Creators, and RSS.com are useful starting points for creators comparing audio and video workflows, while Acast and other professional providers may suit established shows.
