A TikTok Open Graph image generator helps you create an image for a web page’s link preview, but generating the file is only half the job: your published page must also expose it through Open Graph metadata. Add an og:image tag that points to a publicly reachable image, include the page’s title and URL, and check the live page. TikTok does not publish a universal guarantee that every external link will display that image in every sharing context, so treat a preview as something to verify—not something an image generator can promise.
What a TikTok Open Graph image generator does
It creates an image intended to accompany a web page when that page is shared. The image itself is not TikTok metadata, and saving or exporting it does not change your website. To make the image available to link-preview systems, publish it at a stable URL and reference that URL in the page’s Open Graph tags.
Open Graph is a web-page metadata protocol, not a TikTok-only image format. Its core properties are og:title, og:type, og:image and og:url; og:description is recommended. The protocol also defines image properties including og:image:secure_url, og:image:type, og:image:width, og:image:height and og:image:alt. It recommends alt text when a page specifies an image: “If the page specifies an og:image it should specify og:image:alt.”
Those tags describe a web page and its image. They do not establish that TikTok will display a particular card, image crop or layout. TikTok’s developer documentation covers particular products and integrations; those are distinct from the behavior of an ordinary external URL shared in the app.

Is there a required TikTok image size?
The sources available for this topic do not establish a TikTok-specific required image dimension, aspect ratio or file size for ordinary website link previews. The Open Graph Protocol’s 400 × 300-pixel image is an example in its markup, not a universal recommendation or TikTok requirement. Avoid treating dimensions advertised by a third-party generator as an official platform specification unless TikTok itself documents them for the exact sharing surface you are using.
For a practical design, start with the dimensions and format suited to the other places you share the page, then keep important text and visual elements away from the edges so a crop is less likely to hide them. Use a legible image at its intended display size, and preview it in the destinations you care about. This is a design precaution, not a claim about TikTok’s crop behavior.
Create the image and attach it to your page
The workflow is the same whether the artwork comes from a graphics editor, a CMS, a template, or a generator labeled “TikTok Open Graph.” The key is to publish the image and the metadata together on the page visitors will share.

- Create the image. Design a page-specific image with a clear subject and readable text. Export a web-friendly file such as JPEG, PNG or WebP, as supported by your site and publishing system.
- Publish it at a stable, public URL. Upload the file to your website or image host. Make sure an unauthenticated visitor can load it over HTTPS; a local file path, temporary editor preview or private asset URL will not serve as a usable public reference.
- Add Open Graph metadata to the page. Put the tags in the page’s HTML head. Replace the sample values below with the actual page title, canonical URL, image URL and description.
- Publish and inspect the rendered page. Open the public page source or use a metadata preview checker to confirm the tags are present in the delivered HTML and that the image URL works. Do not rely on a generator’s form preview alone.
- Test the actual sharing context. Share the published URL using the TikTok surface you intend to use, if available, and inspect the result. A correct Open Graph implementation improves the page’s metadata, but does not guarantee how every app version, region or surface will render it.

What to check in a generator
“Open Graph image generator” can describe different tools. Some create an image file; some produce metadata tags; some show a preview of tags they read from a live URL. Before choosing one, check which of those jobs it actually performs. A visual mockup is not the same as writing tags into your CMS, and a preview checker does not necessarily edit your site.

- Can it export the image file in a format your site accepts?
- Does it create tags, inspect existing tags, or only display a visual preview?
- Can it inspect the published URL, or does it only preview values entered by hand?
- Does your page deliver metadata in server-rendered HTML, or depend on JavaScript to add it later?
- Can you control the image URL, descriptive alt text, page title and other metadata?
- Are claims about TikTok behavior confirmed by TikTok documentation, or are they the tool vendor’s own description?
How TikTok-specific claims should be read
TikTok’s developer materials describe specific developer features rather than a universal specification for every external link shared on TikTok. For example, TikTok’s app setup documentation says URL verification is required for some features, including Link Sharing (beta). TikTok Minis also has a sharing interface with explicit title, desc and imageUrl parameters. Those details apply to the named developer products; they are not proof that arbitrary website links use the same interface or display rules.
A third-party TikTok preview utility describes a card containing an image, title and domain, and says its TikTokSpider does not execute JavaScript and respects robots.txt. Attribute those statements to that utility’s description. They are not a universal guarantee from TikTok for all link-sharing contexts. If a checker cannot see metadata that appears only after client-side JavaScript runs, put the essential Open Graph tags into the HTML delivered by your server or CMS and recheck the live page.

TikTok’s Content Sharing Guidelines address apps that post content to TikTok, not an ordinary website page with Open Graph tags. For posting API clients, the guidelines require user awareness and control, including a preview and express consent before upload; they also say unverified Direct Post API clients’ uploaded content is restricted to private viewing. Do not apply those posting-integration requirements to a simple metadata generator unless you are actually building that kind of integration.

Why a link preview may not show your image
A missing or unexpected preview can come from the page, the image, the way metadata is delivered, or the sharing surface. Work through these checks before changing the artwork:
- The tag is absent or points to the wrong image. Inspect the published HTML and confirm there is an
og:imagevalue with the complete public image URL. - The image cannot be fetched. Load the image URL in a private browser window. Correct access restrictions, redirects, broken paths or server errors so it can be reached without a logged-in session.
- The page adds its tags only after JavaScript runs. Some preview systems may inspect the HTML response without executing page scripts. A third-party TikTok preview utility makes this claim about its own TikTokSpider; it should not be assumed for every TikTok context. Prefer server-rendered metadata when possible.
- The crawler cannot reach the page or image. Check the page and asset’s public availability and your site’s crawler rules. A third-party checker says its crawler respects
robots.txt; that is a statement about that checker, not proof of TikTok’s universal behavior. - The shared URL is not the page you edited. Check redirects, canonical URLs and alternate page versions. Confirm the exact URL being shared returns the expected page and metadata.
- The preview differs across contexts. A successful preview in one checker confirms what that checker found, not what every TikTok version, region or surface will show. Test the actual sharing flow where possible.
The reviewed official TikTok materials do not settle universal image dimensions, aspect ratio, cache-refresh timing or consistent rendering across app versions and regions. If a change does not appear immediately, first confirm the live page and asset are correct; avoid promising a specific refresh interval that the platform does not document here.

A screenshot is useful for checking what a browser renders at the public URL, especially when diagnosing layout, missing content or a page that looks different from its metadata. It is not a substitute for reading the HTML tags, and a screenshot of your website cannot prove that TikTok will render an identical link card. Keep metadata inspection and visual page inspection as separate checks.

Does generating an image automatically add it to my website?
No. The image generator creates or exports an asset; your site still needs published Open Graph metadata that points to that asset.

You can, but a page-specific image makes the relationship between the preview and the page clearer. Whichever asset you choose, make sure its URL is publicly accessible and the metadata points to the intended file.
Does an Open Graph preview tool guarantee TikTok will show the same preview?
No. A checker reports what it can inspect or simulate. TikTok’s official materials cited here do not promise one universal rendering outcome for arbitrary external links.
