If you need a PS5 racing wheel now, the Fanatec Gran Turismo DD Pro is the practical choice: Fanatec lists it as PlayStation-compatible, with 5 Nm standard peak torque and an 8 Nm option using the Boost Kit 180. The Thrustmaster T-GT III has an appealing announced package, including load-cell pedals and Gran Turismo-focused haptics, but Thrustmaster schedules sales to begin December 3, 2026. Its torque claims use different terminology from Fanatec’s, so the figures are not a direct performance comparison.

These are manufacturer descriptions, not results from standardized head-to-head testing. Thrustmaster’s constant-torque and overshoot figures and Fanatec’s peak-torque figures should not be treated as directly equivalent measurements. See Thrustmaster’s T-GT III product information, Fanatec’s DD Pro information, and Gran Turismo’s DD Pro product page.
Which wheel should you choose?
Choose the DD Pro if you want to buy now
The DD Pro is the more actionable option for a PS5 buyer who is shopping now. Its PlayStation compatibility is built into the wheelbase, and the manufacturer states 5 Nm standard peak torque or 8 Nm with the Boost Kit 180. The boost kit is an upgrade, not something to assume is included. Before ordering, compare the exact bundle and confirm whether it includes the wheel, pedals, and power supply you expect, as well as the regional price. Fanatec’s product information covers ecosystem and cockpit compatibility; check mounting requirements and available space for your desk or cockpit.

The T-GT III may suit a buyer who values an included load-cell pedal set and the announced Gran Turismo-specific haptic effects. Thrustmaster says the complete bundle is scheduled to go on sale December 3, 2026, with worldwide availability expected before Christmas. Its announcement describes a leather-finished steering wheel, four rotary encoders mapped for Gran Turismo, Harmony-related effects named GEAR JOLT and ENGINE ROAR, and load-cell pedals. Are both wheels compatible with PS5?
Yes, both are officially positioned for PS5. Thrustmaster identifies the T-GT III as an officially licensed Gran Turismo 7 wheel for PS4 and PS5. Fanatec lists the DD Pro among PlayStation-compatible wheelbases and states PS5/PS4 compatibility; its support page explains that PlayStation compatibility is built into the wheelbase. See Thrustmaster and Fanatec’s PS5 compatibility information. These statements do not establish compatibility with every PS5 racing game. Check the game’s publisher and the wheel maker’s current support information for a specific title.
How do the torque claims compare?
Thrustmaster describes the T-GT III as delivering 5 Nm of constant torque, with overshoot capacity up to 10 Nm. Fanatec describes the DD Pro as delivering 5 Nm peak torque in its standard configuration, or up to 8 Nm with the Boost Kit 180. The manufacturers use different terms—constant torque, overshoot capacity, and peak torque—and the published materials do not provide a standardized test comparing the two wheels. The numbers therefore do not establish which one feels stronger or performs better in a direct comparison.

- Mounting and space: Check the actual wheelbase’s mounting requirements against your desk or cockpit, and make sure your setup has room for the pedals.
