The GatLight V3 was a compact flashlight distinguished by titanium-alloy bars over a carbon-fibre weave and a control that combined a push button with a rotary dimmer. New Atlas described it in 2007 as a Swiss-designed, US-made custom product; its reported specifications and prices are historical, not evidence that the flashlight is still available.
What the GatLight V3 was
“Gatling” referred to the flashlight’s name and mechanical-looking exterior, not to a weapon. New Atlas’s March 7, 2007 feature described the GatLight V3 as a pocket LED flashlight built from aerospace-grade titanium-alloy housing components and carbon-fibre composite. Titanium bars ran over the visible carbon-fibre weave, giving it an unusually industrial appearance.
The article called it Swiss-designed and US-made, saying it was milled on Swiss machines and hand-assembled in the United States from more than 80 parts. Its reported dimensions were 3.3 inches long by 1.2 inches wide.

A push button sat in the center of a rotary knob at the rear. Pressing the button switched the light on or off; turning the knob adjusted brightness smoothly. New Atlas’s author called the interface “one of the most intuitive user interfaces possible”—an opinion, rather than a measured performance result.

The 2007 article said the light was electronically regulated, maintaining the chosen brightness until the battery was depleted. It also described copper on the circuit board as a heat sink and said the circuit monitored the light source’s temperature. These are descriptions in that period’s report, not independently retested findings.

What the old figures do—and do not—tell you
The output and LED-longevity numbers were reported as manufacturer-related ratings in a 2007 feature. They should not be treated as present-day test results or as verified measures of complete-light runtime. The article’s continuous-on claim concerned the LED source, not the battery-powered flashlight as a whole.

Likewise, the reported US$295–US$370 price applied to the all-titanium version in 2007, and the three-month estimate applied to custom orders at that time. Neither figure establishes today’s price, delivery time, or availability.

The available account establishes what New Atlas reported in 2007, but does not establish whether Lumencraft still operates or whether the GatLight V3 can currently be bought. There is no basis here for current buying advice, a present-day price comparison, or claims about replacement parts, accessories, maintenance, or repairs.
