The luxury appliance brand is Dacor. Samsung Electronics America announced an agreement to acquire the California-based company in 2016, and Samsung’s financial statements record that the deal closed later that year.
Which luxury appliance brand does Samsung own?
It is Dacor, an American luxury kitchen-appliance brand. Samsung announced the acquisition on August 10, 2016, describing Dacor as a luxury appliance maker. Its interim consolidated financial statements say Samsung Electronics America acquired 100% of Dacor’s equity shares on September 7, 2016.
The announcement and the closing date are different milestones: the first was the agreement to acquire Dacor; the second records completion of the purchase. Samsung’s filing identifies the acquired company as Dacor Holdings, Inc., along with four subsidiaries, headquartered in City of Industry, California. Does Dacor keep its own brand?
Samsung said when it announced the deal that Dacor would become a wholly owned subsidiary while retaining its corporate identity and brand. That describes the announced arrangement; it does not establish every detail of Dacor’s current operations.

Samsung’s 2016 announcement also said Dacor’s operations would not change and that US-based manufacturing was planned at the time. The release described the company as having designed and manufactured American-made luxury kitchen appliances since 1965. These are historical statements from the announcement, not evidence that every Dacor product sold today is made in the United States.

That list establishes the brand’s kitchen-appliance focus, but it is not a current model catalog. Samsung Korea reported in June 2024 that it was expanding Dacor product displays and sales at department stores and furniture-brand showrooms. Does Samsung ownership mean Dacor appliances are the same as Samsung appliances?
No such conclusion follows from ownership alone. The cited sources establish that Samsung acquired Dacor and describe Dacor’s brand and product categories; they do not establish model-by-model component sharing, identical features, equal performance, or comparative reliability. Evaluate an individual appliance by its specifications and terms rather than assuming it is a Samsung model under another name.
