Updated October 8, 2026: Google is transitioning Fitbit app users to Google Health, with Google Fit users expected to begin migrating later in 2026. That makes “works with Google Fit” different from “works with Google Health”: a current Google Health product listing does not establish direct compatibility with the legacy Google Fit app. Google announced the transition in May 2026.[1]
If you need a device for the current Google ecosystem, Google’s lineup includes Fitbit Charge 6, Fitbit Air, Pixel Watch 4 and Pixel Watch 5. For other brands, Google documents routes through Health Connect on Android or Apple Health on iPhone—but the data shared varies by brand, and usually depends on syncing the maker’s app. This guide separates those current routes from confirmed legacy Google Fit compatibility.
What “works with Google Fit” means now
There are two different questions behind the phrase. One is whether a gadget sends data directly to the legacy Google Fit app. The other is whether it can share data with Google Health, the successor app Google announced. The official materials cited here identify current Google Health products and third-party sharing routes, but do not verify that the listed current devices connect directly to legacy Google Fit.
Google’s Google Fit page says the app works with many health apps and devices to offer a holistic view of activity and health. That general statement does not confirm that a specific device, app version, or metric is supported today. Google Fit remains a distinct compatibility question during the transition.

Current devices in Google’s health ecosystem
Google’s current Google Health overview features Fitbit Charge 6, Fitbit Air, Pixel Watch 4 and Pixel Watch 5 as wearables designed for that app. Treat these as Google Health ecosystem recommendations, not as confirmed direct Google Fit devices. Google’s Google Health overview is the current product reference.
Fitbit Charge 6
Charge 6 is a screen-equipped fitness tracker included in Google’s current Google Health ecosystem. It is the relevant Fitbit tracker to consider if you want a display and are choosing for Google Health. The reviewed official sources do not establish current direct Google Fit compatibility.

- The new Google Pixel Watch 5 offers a smarter way to a healthier you.[1,2]; Designed for Gemini Intelligence, get proactive help, and personalized insights from Google Health[3,4]; watch is compatible with Android devices only; not compatible with iOS devices
- Precision-crafted to do it all: The Google Pixel Watch 5 features the domed Actua 360 display with scratch-resistant Gorilla Glass and up to 40 hours of battery life[1,5]

- Detects loss of pulse, then calls for help: Pixel Watch 5 is the only smartwatch to feature Loss of Pulse Detection, which can prompt a call to emergency services[10]
Fitbit Air
Fitbit Air is a screen-free Google tracker. Google’s May 2026 launch announcement listed a starting price of $99 and a Special Edition at $129; these are dated launch prices, not verified current retailer prices. Google’s compatibility table includes Fitbit Air for Google Health API data, which is a Google Health connection—not proof of legacy Google Fit support. See Google’s announcement.
Pixel Watch 4 and Pixel Watch 5
Google’s current overview lists both watches as designed for Google Health. The listing does not verify direct synchronization with legacy Google Fit, so choose them for the current Google Health ecosystem rather than on an assumption that Fit compatibility carries over.

Third-party devices: compatibility depends on the route and the metric
Google documents Google Health data-sharing pathways for Garmin, Xiaomi, Samsung, Oura, Whoop, Withings and Zepp/Amazfit. Depending on brand and phone, the route uses Health Connect on Android or Apple Health on iPhone. These are indirect sharing routes, not a direct connection from the wearable to Google Health. Most require you to sync the manufacturer’s companion app regularly for updates; Xiaomi’s documented route is Android-only.
The table summarizes examples from Google’s current help guide. It describes what Google says is shared or omitted in its documented Google Health pathway, not what every device can measure or what it sends to legacy Google Fit. Check Google’s current brand-by-brand compatibility guide for the complete and changing list.

| Samsung | Health Connect on Android and/or Apple Health on iPhone; sync via Samsung’s app | Includes SpO2 and VO2 max | HRV and ECG alerts |
| Xiaomi | Health Connect on Android; sync via Xiaomi’s app | See Google’s current brand list for supported categories | See Google’s current brand list; the route is Android-only |
| Oura | Health Connect on Android and/or Apple Health on iPhone; sync via Oura’s app | See Google’s current brand list for supported categories | See Google’s current brand list |
| Whoop | Health Connect on Android and/or Apple Health on iPhone; sync via Whoop’s app | See Google’s current brand list for supported categories | See Google’s current brand list |

| Zepp/Amazfit | Health Connect on Android and/or Apple Health on iPhone; sync via Zepp’s app | See Google’s current brand list for supported categories | See Google’s current brand list |
For Xiaomi, Oura, Whoop, Withings and Zepp/Amazfit, Google’s guide contains brand-specific details that can change; consult the linked list rather than assuming that all device metrics transfer. In particular, the presence of steps or workouts in a connection does not imply that specialist readings, routes or alerts are included.
How to choose a device for your phone and needs
- You want the Google-made ecosystem: Start with Charge 6, Fitbit Air or a Pixel Watch for Google Health, while treating direct legacy Fit support as unverified.
- You use Android and a third-party brand: Confirm that your exact brand and the metrics you care about appear in Google’s Health Connect guide, then check that the manufacturer app is available and syncs consistently.
- You use iPhone: Look for the Apple Health pathway in Google’s brand-specific guide. Do not assume every Android Health Connect route is also available on iPhone.
- You rely on a specific measurement: Check that category explicitly—such as HRV, blood oxygen, ECG alerts, VO2 max or route data—rather than relying on a general “compatible” label.
Google cautions that health values may differ between its app and third-party apps because each calculates results from the data available to it. Its current help page also lists exercise minutes and stand hours as data not yet available in Google Health. A working connection therefore does not guarantee identical totals or every familiar Google Fit field.
Best Value
- The Google Pixel Watch 3 is designed for performance, with advanced fitness from Fitbit[1,2]; the 45mm screen is twice as bright and 40% larger than before, making it easier to see your stats and info[1]
- Maximize your performance with advanced running features; build custom run workouts and get real-time guidance and advanced form tracking[3]
- Enhance your run routine with Fitbit Premium; Google AI uses your goals, past runs, and readiness to power personalized run recommendations[3]
- Know what your body is ready for each day with readiness; it uses sleep, resting heart rate, and heart rate variability to show if you’re ready to take on a workout or prioritize recovery[3]
- Cardio load measures how hard your heart works so you can see how hard you’ve pushed; compare trends to see if you’re under- or over-training[3]
What to verify before buying
- Decide whether you need the legacy Google Fit app or the current Google Health ecosystem. Google said Google Fit users would begin migrating later in 2026; that is a planned transition, not a statement that consumer Google Fit has already shut down.
- Find your phone platform and brand in Google’s current compatibility guide: Google Health data connections.
- Check each important metric for inclusion and omission, not just whether the brand appears.
- Confirm which companion app must be installed and how often you need to open or sync it for fresh data.
- Compare the device’s current price and availability separately. Google’s published Fitbit Air prices were launch figures from 2026, not current price quotes.
For app developers: the Fit API timeline is separate
Google’s developer notice says support for the legacy Fitbit Web API ends September 30, 2026. It may continue operating without bug fixes or support until shutdown on October 30, 2026. Google also says it is not onboarding new projects to the Google Health API at the time of that notice. Those dates concern developer APIs; they do not establish that consumer Google Fit has shut down. Read Google’s developer migration notice.
