The ASUS ROG Swift OLED PG27UCDM is RTINGS’ top overall pick for docked Nintendo Switch 2 play, thanks to its 4K image, OLED contrast, and support for the console’s 4K/60Hz and 1440p/120Hz signals. It is an expensive, high-end choice; the KOORUI S2721PM is RTINGS’ budget pick, while the ASUS ROG Strix XG27ACS is a simpler lower-cost option. The right choice depends on whether you value 4K detail, 120Hz input, bright-room visibility, or OLED contrast. The rankings and product assessments below are RTINGS’ recommendations, not hands-on testing by this article’s author.
What to check before buying a Switch 2 monitor
For docked play, match the monitor’s supported HDMI input signals to the output you want. Nintendo lists Automatic, 720p, 1080p, 1440p, and 2160p (4K) resolution settings. The console can output 4K at up to 60 fps; 120Hz output is available at 1080p or 1440p when the display and software support it. Those are different targets: a monitor accepting a 120Hz signal does not make a game run at 120 fps. See Nintendo’s display-settings instructions and its Switch 2 features page.
- For 4K detail: Look for confirmed 4K/60Hz over HDMI input support.
- For high-refresh play: Confirm 1440p/120Hz or 1080p/120Hz input support specifically. A monitor’s advertised maximum refresh rate may describe its PC capability rather than the signal the Switch 2 can use.
- For HDR or VRR: Both depend on compatible software and a compatible display. Nintendo says TV-mode VRR support was added in a system update released September 10, 2026.
HDMI 2.1 is useful, but it is not the only way to support the console’s relevant signals. RTINGS says the KOORUI S2721PM accepts 4K/60Hz and 1440p/120Hz despite lacking HDMI 2.1 bandwidth. Check the monitor’s supported-resolution and refresh-rate table, not just the HDMI version printed in a listing. Nintendo advises users to consult the display’s manual or manufacturer for supported color-display settings.

1. ASUS ROG Swift OLED PG27UCDM — best overall
This 27-inch 4K QD-OLED is RTINGS’ top overall pick. The guide says it accepts Switch 2 output at 4K/60Hz and 1440p/120Hz, and highlights its detailed 4K image, OLED contrast and color, motion handling, and input lag. Its 240Hz maximum refresh rate is well beyond the Switch 2’s output; that headroom is more relevant if you also connect a PC or another device. OLED’s deep blacks and vivid color come with a reported burn-in risk after prolonged exposure to static interface elements.
2. ASUS ROG Strix OLED XG27ACDNG — best upper-mid-range OLED
This 27-inch 1440p QD-OLED has HDMI 2.1 bandwidth and, according to RTINGS, supports 1440p/120Hz as well as downscaled 4K/60Hz input from the Switch 2. RTINGS praises its fast motion, low input lag, vivid color, and deep blacks. One consideration is room lighting: the guide reports that blacks can look raised or purple in bright rooms.

3. Acer Nitro XV275K P5biipruzx — best mid-range 4K LCD
RTINGS describes this 27-inch 4K IPS LCD as a Mini LED monitor with HDMI 2.1 bandwidth and a maximum refresh rate of 320Hz. It supports native 4K/60Hz and, in RTINGS’ account, upscaled 1440p/120Hz input. Its strengths include high brightness and low input lag. The trade-offs are that local dimming is available only in HDR and its black levels are less convincing than OLED’s.

The guide highlights strong brightness and useful local dimming, particularly for HDR and dark-room contrast. Its native 1440p panel shows less detail than a 4K monitor.

How to choose between OLED, Mini LED, and standard LCD
Choose OLED for contrast and color
The two OLED picks are the strongest fit if deep blacks and vivid color matter most. The PG27UCDM pairs that panel type with native 4K, while the XG27ACDNG is a 1440p option. RTINGS notes prolonged static interface exposure as a burn-in risk for OLED, not a guaranteed outcome. It also flags the XG27ACDNG’s raised-looking blacks in bright rooms.
Choose Mini LED when brightness and dimming matter
The Acer and KOORUI combine LCD panels with Mini LED backlighting and local dimming. RTINGS characterizes both as bright; the Acer’s local dimming is limited to HDR, while the KOORUI’s dimming can help HDR and dark-room contrast. Neither matches OLED’s black levels, according to the guide.
Choose standard IPS for a straightforward 1440p setup
The XG27ACS is the simpler 1440p IPS choice in this shortlist. Its motion handling, viewing angles, and stand are cited advantages, but it lacks local dimming and has weaker contrast and less impressive HDR than the Mini LED alternative.
Which resolution and refresh target makes sense?
- 4K/60Hz: Best aligned with a preference for finer image detail. The PG27UCDM and Acer offer native 4K panels; the 1440p models accept 4K input only by downscaling, as described by RTINGS.
- 1440p/120Hz: A useful target if you want a supported high-refresh signal and do not require native 4K. The monitor must support that input, and the game must support the relevant frame rate for you to benefit from it.
- 1080p/120Hz: Nintendo lists this output option when the monitor and software support it. Confirm the monitor accepts it rather than assuming a high maximum refresh rate guarantees compatibility.
For a monitor that will also serve a PC, refresh rates above 120Hz may have value with that other device. They do not raise the Switch 2’s stated 4K ceiling of 60 fps.
Quick Recap
Check compatibility and availability before ordering
- Choose your target: native 4K at 60Hz, or 1440p/1080p at 120Hz.
- Open the monitor’s manual or manufacturer specifications and verify that exact resolution and refresh rate over the input you will use.
- Check whether HDR and TV-mode VRR are supported by both the monitor and the software you intend to play; do not infer either feature from a port label alone.
- Confirm the exact model suffix, regional version, current price, and local stock. These can vary, and the cited guide does not establish live pricing or availability.
