The engineer-to-engineer community, launched in April 2008, brought together more than 120,000 engineers at the time of the announcement.
What the TI E2E Community is
TI E2E is a technical support and knowledge-sharing community for engineers working with Texas Instruments products. Rather than functioning only as a social forum, it gives members a place to ask questions before a design, work through implementation issues, troubleshoot problems, and learn from other engineers. Its forums are organized around products and applications, with TI product designers and application engineers among the participants. TI described the community’s launch in April 2008 and its forum model in its technical guide.
What TI changed in the 2013 expansion
In an announcement dated April 22, 2013, TI said the updates were intended to help users find answers faster, engage with other engineers, and connect discussions to application notes, user guides, and technical articles. The changes emphasized findability and pathways from community answers to deeper learning.
- Expanded search: Improved search was intended to help members locate relevant answers across community content.
- Graphical forum navigation: Forum pages gained visual navigation with fly-out subforums to make product and application areas easier to browse.
- More visible contributors: The updated community gave top contributors greater visibility, helping readers identify active members.
- Related material on forum pages: Forums highlighted related resources, training, common questions, and useful links alongside discussions.
- A centralized Learn E2E area: TI added a central place for guidance on using the community.
- Expert blogs: About 200 analog and embedded-processing experts continued publishing across more than 20 TI E2E blogs.
These features were presented as a connected experience: search or browse to a discussion, then follow related documentation or training when an answer needs more detail. TI’s April 22, 2013 announcement reported that more than 120,000 engineers were connected through the community.

How the community supports engineering work
The community’s value lies in covering more than one stage of a project. An engineer evaluating a TI component can look for prior questions and ask about a design; during implementation, members can compare approaches; when something fails, troubleshooting discussions may surface relevant experience. TI’s technical guide describes the community as part of this support process, while its 2011 announcement described forums where members asked questions, solved problems, and responded to one another.
Peer discussions can also help readers recognize patterns beyond their immediate issue. TI E2E contributor Jens-Michael Gross said that other people’s problems could inspire his own projects, and that understanding what went wrong for them could be a first step toward his own implementations. The statement appeared in TI’s technical guide.

- 32 Boards In Five Sizes: Choose 4 × 6 cm, 3 × 7 cm, 5 × 7 cm, 2 × 8 cm or 7 × 9 cm boards for compact circuits, controller interfaces, classroom soldering exercises and larger point-to-point builds
- Double-Sided FR4 For Soldered Prototypes: Approximately 1.6 mm FR4 provides a rigid base for permanent electronics builds, while pre-tinned plated-through holes provide solderable connections accessible from both sides
- Standard 2.54 mm Grid Fits Common Through-Hole Parts: Lay out resistors, LEDs, DIP sockets, pin headers, terminal blocks, sensors and jumper wires on a 0.1 in pitch, then create each required connection with soldered leads, bridges or insulated wire
- From Breadboard Test To Permanent Build: Transfer a proven circuit into a compact soldered assembly for sensor nodes, controllers, alarms and STEM demonstrations; corner mounting holes help secure finished boards in enclosures or on panels
- Set Expectations Before Soldering: These are isolated-pad perfboards with no breadboard-style buses or stripboard traces, and the kit does not include components, wire, solder or tools; plan the layout and check continuity before applying power
What the historical numbers show
TI’s published figures indicate substantial growth in the community’s early years, but they are dated snapshots rather than current usage statistics.
| Measure | Reported figure | Source and date |
|---|---|---|
| Community launch | April 2008 | TI announcements in 2011 and 2013 |
| Members | More than 50,000 | TI announcement, 2011: TI E2E reaches 50,000 members |
| Discussion threads | More than 84,000 | TI announcement, 2011: TI E2E reaches 50,000 members |
| Engineers connected | More than 120,000 | TI announcement, April 22, 2013: TI E2E community expands |
The 2011 membership and thread totals and the 2013 connected-engineer figure use different measures and dates, so they should not be treated as a direct year-to-year comparison. These announcements do not establish a current 2026 membership or activity total.

Why the expansion mattered
The 2013 changes addressed a common challenge in technical communities: useful answers are only valuable when engineers can find them and judge how they connect to their work. Search, product and application navigation, prominent contributors, and links to documentation each address a different part of that problem. The result TI described was a community intended to bridge discussion and formal learning resources, not simply add more forum activity.
TI worldwide manager for community and social media Aimee Kalnoskas described the goal as increasing membership and participation to grow the searchable knowledge base while supplying more related content in an engineer-friendly environment. That aim explains why the expansion paired community features with documentation and training links.
