Testers Community and PeerPlay both offer ways to find people to test an Android app, but they use different workflows. Testers Community offers a free credit-based community and paid managed plans; PeerPlay describes a reciprocal testing model through its app. For personal developer accounts created after November 13, 2023, neither service changes Google Play’s requirement: at least 12 testers must stay opted in continuously for 14 days before you apply for production access. That threshold does not guarantee approval.
What Google Play requires before production access
Google says personal developer accounts created after November 13, 2023 must complete a closed test with at least 12 testers opted in continuously for at least 14 days before applying for production access. See Google Play’s app testing requirements for new personal developer accounts.

The application asks about the closed test, the app, and its readiness for production. Google may require additional testing if the number of opted-in testers or their engagement is insufficient. Reaching the stated count and duration is therefore a prerequisite for applying, not a promise that Google will grant production access.

How the two options work
Testers Community
Testers Community describes two routes. Its free community is reciprocal: developers test other members’ apps to earn credits, then spend those credits to post their own app. This means you contribute testing time and rely on community activity and timing to find participants.
The vendor also lists managed testing plans. Its page displays Starter at €14 for 15 testers and Pro at €24 for 25 testers, and advertises a 16-day managed cycle, assignment within six hours, reports, help with the production-access form, and a refund guarantee. These are vendor claims and displayed prices, not independently verified service results or a Google guarantee. The page title uses U.S.-dollar language while detailed plan content shows euros, so confirm the checkout currency, total, and terms for your location before paying. Details are on the Testers Community site.

PeerPlay
PeerPlay’s Google Play listing describes an app-based reciprocal model: participants test other developers’ apps in return, and testing starts after a mutual commitment. The listing also describes activity-based ranking, visual bug reports, and flagging and replacing inactive testers. These are product claims, not independently established measures of reliability. The listing was updated June 24, 2026 and marks the app as containing in-app purchases; it does not establish a specific tester-plan price.
The listing’s phrase “Tired of the 14-day testing marathon?” is marketing copy, not evidence that the process will be effortless or that Google’s requirements are waived. User reviews include individual reports of tester drop-off and interface problems, as well as a report that a paid boost had attracted one other tester by day two and yielded generic feedback. Those accounts are not representative performance data. In a reply, the developer said testers may quit and availability restrictions can limit which community members can access an app. Ask whether participants can access your app in its target regions and match its intended audience.

Compare them on the factors that affect your test
| Factor | Testers Community | PeerPlay |
|---|---|---|
| How you get testers | Free route: test other developers’ apps to earn credits, then spend credits on your own listing. Managed route: the vendor says it assigns paid testers. | Reciprocal app-based model; participants test other developers’ apps in return. |
| Price information | Vendor page displays Starter at €14 for 15 testers and Pro at €24 for 25 testers; reconfirm checkout price and terms for your location. | The consulted Google Play listing marks in-app purchases but does not state a specific tester-plan price. |
| Timing and progress | The vendor advertises assignment within six hours and a 16-day managed cycle. The free route depends on credits and community activity. | The listing says testing begins after mutual commitment and describes activity-based ranking; it does not establish a specific start-time or duration promise. |
| Dropout handling | Ask how departures are detected, replacements are arranged, and continuous opt-in is tracked. | The listing claims inactive testers can be flagged and replaced. Ask how replacements and continuity are shown. |
| Feedback | The vendor says managed plans include reports. Confirm what the report contains and whether feedback is structured. | The listing describes visual bug reporting. Confirm whether testers can provide actionable feedback on your app’s actual audience and use cases. |
The figures and features above describe vendor pages and a Google Play listing, not independently tested outcomes. A listed tester count or replacement feature does not, by itself, prove that at least 12 people remain opted in throughout the required period.

Consider the free Testers Community route if you can contribute time
It may suit developers who are willing to test other apps and can tolerate waiting for credits and community activity. Before relying on it, ask how quickly your listing is likely to receive participants, how you can see their opt-in status over time, and what happens when someone leaves.

Consider a managed Testers Community plan if you prefer a paid service
The listed plans may appeal if you want the vendor to arrange testers rather than earn credits yourself. Check the current price and currency at checkout, exactly how many testers and how many days are included, what reporting and support cover, and the conditions attached to any refund guarantee. Treat the advertised timing and service terms as the vendor’s claims, not assurances about Google’s decision.

PeerPlay’s described model still requires you to test other developers’ apps. Before committing, establish any applicable in-app cost, when mutual commitment occurs, how tester activity is tracked, and how dropouts are replaced. Also ask whether enough participants can access your app in the regions where you need to test.

Questions to settle before you start
- Continuity: How will you verify that at least 12 testers remain opted in continuously for the full 14 days, and what happens if the count falls?
- Scheduling: When do testers actually begin? Do you need to earn credits, wait for a match, or pay for a managed arrangement?
- Feedback: What tasks will testers complete, what feedback will they provide, and where can you communicate with them? Set clear instructions and request feedback tied to your app’s risks and target audience.
- Audience access: Can participants install and use the app in its intended regions, and do their devices and experience suit the test?
- Full cost and terms: Confirm the checkout currency, taxes, add-ons, tester count, duration, reporting, support, and refund conditions rather than comparing headline prices alone.
- Production access: Keep the service’s tester-arranging or replacement promises separate from Google’s review. Google controls whether your application for production access succeeds.
