Tensor G5 is the processor in Google’s Pixel 10 family, while Tensor G4 powers the Pixel 9 family. Google claims the G5’s CPU is 34% faster on average than the G4 and its TPU is up to 60% more powerful for on-device AI. A Geekbench 6 chart snapshot also shows higher CPU scores for Pixel 10 than Pixel 9—but that comparison does not prove the same gains in every app, game, or battery test.
For most buyers, this is a choice between phones, not processors sold separately. The comparison below separates Google’s claims from benchmark results and explains what those numbers can—and cannot—tell you.
Tensor G5 vs Tensor G4 at a glance
| Comparison | Tensor G5 | Tensor G4 |
|---|---|---|
| Where to find it | Google Pixel 10 family | Google Pixel 9 family |
| Google’s CPU comparison | Google says the CPU is 34% faster on average than Tensor G4 | Baseline for Google’s stated comparison |
| Google’s TPU comparison | Google says the TPU is up to 60% more powerful for on-device AI | Baseline for Google’s stated comparison |

| Geekbench 6 multi-core | Pixel 10: 5,798 | Pixel 9: 4,393 |
The Geekbench figures are user-submitted chart results accessed October 7, 2026, not fixed chip specifications or the outcome of a controlled test that swaps only the processor. The Google percentages are vendor claims, not independent measurements of every workload. Google’s Pixel 10 announcement identifies the chip claims and Pixel 10 feature context; Geekbench’s Pixel 10 device chart provides the dynamic scores.

Keep the qualifiers in view: “up to” applies to the TPU claim, and “on average” applies to the CPU claim. These are Google’s figures and descriptions; the announcement does not establish that every task runs 34% faster, or that every AI feature is 60% faster.
Geekbench 6 scores: Pixel 10 vs Pixel 9
| Geekbench 6 test | Pixel 10 with Tensor G5 | Pixel 9 with Tensor G4 |
|---|---|---|
| Single-core | 1,977 | 1,514 |
| Multi-core | 5,798 | 4,393 |
These are the values shown on Geekbench’s user-submitted Pixel device chart when accessed October 7, 2026. They indicate that the Pixel 10 chart entries scored higher than the Pixel 9 entries in both CPU test categories at that time. The chart can change as users submit more results, so the values should be treated as a dated snapshot.

Geekbench compares two complete phone generations here, not two otherwise identical phones with only the chip changed. The scores therefore do not isolate the processor’s contribution or show that real-world performance improves by the same proportion. Different review runs can also produce different results; compare only figures from the same benchmark, test type, and clearly identified device rather than combining unrelated scores.
What these numbers mean for everyday use
CPU responsiveness
The higher single-core and multi-core results in this chart support the conclusion that the Pixel 10 performs better than the Pixel 9 in these particular CPU tests. They are useful context for processor-heavy tasks, but they do not translate into a guaranteed percentage improvement in opening apps, browsing, or other daily activity.
Rank #3

AI features
Google links Tensor G5 with Pixel 10 features such as Magic Cue, Pro Res Zoom, Auto Best Take, and voice translations during phone calls with Live Translate. The launch announcement does not provide a complete G5-versus-G4 eligibility matrix. It is not enough to establish that every named feature is exclusive to G5; availability can depend on the specific feature’s requirements and software rollout.
Gaming, heat, and battery
The cited Geekbench figures are CPU results. They do not establish graphics performance, gaming frame rates, sustained speed under heat, thermal throttling, or battery life. The available evidence here does not provide controlled G5-versus-G4 results for those dimensions. If long gaming sessions, video recording, or battery endurance are decisive, look for tests of the exact Pixel models under comparable workloads rather than inferring those outcomes from CPU scores.

Pixel 10 with Tensor G5
Choose the Pixel 10 if you want the newer Google processor generation and value Google’s stated CPU and TPU improvements. Its Geekbench chart snapshot is also higher than Pixel 9’s in both listed CPU tests. Those points support the case for a newer, faster-performing phone in benchmarked CPU tasks, but they do not establish current price or overall value.
Pixel 9 with Tensor G4
The Pixel 9 remains the relevant prior-generation G4 comparison. The evidence here does not show that its performance is inadequate for ordinary use, nor does it establish whether any current price difference makes it the better purchase. Compare the exact Pixel 9 and Pixel 10 models, storage, condition, and prices available to you; benchmark leadership alone cannot decide value.
