Tencent EdgeOne Makers is a web and agent development and deployment platform built on Tencent EdgeOne infrastructure. Tencent documents deployment support for static sites, single-page applications (SPAs), full-stack applications such as Next.js, and agent applications. That establishes what the service says it supports—not that a Makers site is independently proven faster or more secure than another host. The evidence available here also does not support a personal-use account, so this is an assessment of Tencent’s documented capabilities and limits rather than a first-hand deployment review.

What is Tencent EdgeOne Makers?

Tencent describes Makers as an evolution of EdgeOne Pages: Pages was upgraded to Makers, while the original product logic and features remain unchanged, according to Tencent’s product introduction. The naming transition also applies to the command-line interface: Tencent recommends the edgeone makers namespace, while edgeone pages remains available during the transition, according to its CLI guide.

Makers combines web development and deployment workflows with EdgeOne’s edge infrastructure. Tencent describes global edge acceleration and intelligent caching as platform capabilities. Those are vendor descriptions, not a benchmark of a particular Makers project or a controlled comparison with another deployment service.

What types of applications can I deploy?

Tencent’s FAQ lists static websites, SPAs, full-stack applications, and agent applications as supported categories. Its examples include Astro and Hexo for static sites, React and Vue for SPAs, and Next.js for full-stack apps; the FAQ also mentions agent frameworks. See Tencent’s Makers FAQ for its current list.

  • Static sites: Suitable for prebuilt content such as documentation or marketing pages.
  • SPAs: Tencent names React and Vue as examples.
  • Full-stack applications: Next.js is one example listed by Tencent. Confirm the supported framework version, rendering mode, and build configuration for your project in the current console and documentation.
  • Agent applications: Tencent lists agent apps and frameworks, but the cited FAQ does not establish the limits or behavior of every framework integration.

Support for a framework category does not by itself establish that every feature, runtime, or application architecture will work without project-specific configuration.

How deployment works

Tencent documents both a console-based quick deployment flow and a CLI workflow. The guide describes selecting a template or existing project, connecting Git, deploying, using preview links, and redeploying. These are documented workflow steps, not steps independently tested for this article. Tencent’s quick deployment guide was last updated on 2026-06-17: Quick deployment.

Console workflow

  1. In the EdgeOne console, choose a template or an existing project and begin the deployment flow.
  2. Connect the project’s Git repository if using Git-based deployment, then configure the project as prompted.
  3. Deploy and use the generated preview link to inspect the result.
  4. Redeploy after making changes, following the project controls shown in the current console.

Exact console labels and settings can change, so follow the current interface rather than assuming every project presents identical options.

CLI workflow

Tencent documents deployment with edgeone makers deploy. Production is the default target; the CLI guide also documents choosing a preview deployment. Check the guide for the current flags and setup requirements before running the command: EdgeOne CLI deployment. The older edgeone pages command namespace remains available during the transition, but Tencent recommends edgeone makers.

How to set a custom domain

Tencent’s FAQ says to add the custom domain in the console, then update DNS with the domain provider. The platform automatically offers an SSL certificate after that process, according to the Makers FAQ. The source does not establish certificate issuance timing, renewal behavior, or compatibility with every DNS setup, so check the console’s domain status and follow its instructions for your domain.

What security protection is documented?

Tencent says Makers reuses the EdgeOne security protection engine. Its free-edition limits page lists the following controls and qualifications for the free edition:

  • Four custom rules and one precise rate-limiting rule.
  • Adaptive rate limiting of 2,000 requests per five seconds per visitor.
  • Default automated DDoS scrubbing, with no guaranteed minimum protection resource capacity.
  • Basic bot management, including a human-machine verification page and AI crawler handling.

These are Tencent’s published product limits, not results of a security audit or attack test. In particular, automated DDoS scrubbing should not be read as a guarantee of a particular mitigation capacity. Check the current free-edition limits and the service terms for the protections and limits applicable to your deployment.

Is there a free plan available?

Tencent’s free-edition limits documentation, accessed on 2026-10-07, lists the quotas below. They are current documented limits for Tencent EdgeOne in 2026, not durable guarantees. Tencent says quotas may change after commercialization, enforcement is currently more lenient during the pre-commercial free phase, and users can request quota increases. Verify the page and your console before relying on these figures for a project.

Free-edition resource Tencent’s documented limit
Projects 40
Builds 500 per month
Concurrent builds 1
Build timeout 20 minutes
Build capacity 4 cores and 6 GB
Edge-function executions 3 million per month
Cloud-function executions 1 million per month
KV storage 1 GB
Blob storage 1 GB
Files per project 20,000
Total project storage per site 5 GB
Maximum file size 25 MB

All entries in the table are limits published by Tencent EdgeOne for its free edition in documentation accessed 2026-10-07. The same page warns that quotas can change and that enforcement is more lenient during the current pre-commercial free phase: Tencent’s free-edition limits. A monthly execution allowance or storage cap does not by itself establish the cost or behavior of a project that exceeds it; check the current quota and billing terms.

Does Makers prove a site will be fast?

No. Tencent describes global edge acceleration and intelligent caching for Makers, but the available documentation does not establish a controlled latency or performance comparison for Makers deployments. Results depend on the project, caching behavior, users’ locations, and other factors that should be tested against the actual site.

Tencent’s separate EdgeOne product page advertises more than 25 Tbps of DDoS protection capacity and average regional end-to-end latency below 60 ms. Those are company-level marketing claims, not independent measurements of a Makers project; they should not be treated as a performance promise for an individual deployment. See Tencent EdgeOne’s product page.

How to decide whether Makers fits your project

Makers is worth evaluating if its documented application types and deployment workflow match your project. Before moving a production site, confirm the details that affect your particular workload:

  • Whether your framework, version, and rendering mode are supported in the current console.
  • Whether your team prefers Git-based deployment, CLI deployment, or both, and how preview deployments fit your release process.
  • Whether the free-edition build, storage, and execution limits cover your expected workload, and what happens if you exceed them.
  • Whether your domain’s DNS setup follows the console’s instructions and the SSL certificate reaches the status you need.
  • Whether the documented security controls and their capacity limitations meet your threat model.
  • How the deployed site performs for your audience locations, measured with your own project and traffic conditions.

The documentation reviewed here supports an account of the product’s features and published limits, but it does not establish that Makers is faster, safer, or a better value than a competing host. Those questions require project-specific validation and a comparison using the same workload and criteria.
