Telangana’s state-wise domestic GST collections were ₹5,327 crore in September 2026, up 18% from ₹4,512 crore a year earlier. The figure excludes GST on imports and is distinct from the state’s post-settlement SGST measure, which rose 14%.
How much GST did Telangana collect in September 2026?
The state-wise GST revenue table republished by Goodsandservicetax.in reports Telangana at ₹5,327 crore for September 2026, compared with ₹4,512 crore in September 2025. That is an 18% year-on-year increase. The table labels this as domestic GST and excludes GST on imports of goods (Goodsandservicetax.in’s September 2026 table, published October 1, 2026).
These figures are provisional and may change when finalised. They should not be read as Telangana’s total tax take, nor as the state’s post-settlement SGST figure.
Why did Telangana GST collections rise 18%?
The available figures establish the increase but do not identify its cause. They do not show how much of Telangana’s change came from economic activity, compliance, consumption, enforcement or another factor. EY India Tax Partner Saurabh Agarwal described growth as broad-based across several states, saying: “The growth in the tax mop-up is broad based with Uttar Pradesh, Telangana, Gujarat and Karnataka each up 16 per cent to 18 per cent.” DD India/PTI reported the comment on October 1, 2026; it is national-level context, not a Telangana-specific explanation.

The same report attributed part of national GST growth to imports and domestic sales. It also noted that September 2025 was a subdued comparison base amid GST rate rationalisation: changes were announced September 3, 2025, and took effect September 22. That context may affect year-on-year comparisons nationally, but it does not establish why Telangana’s domestic state-wise figure increased.
How does Telangana’s growth compare with India?
India’s gross GST collections were ₹2,03,521 crore in September 2026, up 14.7% year on year. Net collections after refunds were ₹1,76,520 crore, up 18.1%, according to the September 2026 GST revenue table republished by Goodsandservicetax.in. Telangana’s 18% rate is higher than the national gross growth rate and close to the net growth rate, but these are different measures: state-wise domestic collections are not directly interchangeable with national gross or net totals.

The 18% headline refers to the state-wise domestic GST table. A separate accounting view, post-settlement SGST, includes the SGST portion of IGST settled to the state. DD India/PTI reported this measure at ₹4,402 crore for September 2026, against ₹3,870 crore in September 2025, an increase of 14%.

The 18% is the growth in the domestic state-wise line; 14% is the growth in post-settlement SGST. The same PTI report said Telangana’s post-settlement SGST for April–September was ₹26,287 crore, up 18% from ₹22,231 crore, but that cumulative series is not the one-month state-wise measure.
