The Motorola Edge 70 Max has the more powerful listed chipset, a higher-resolution display description, a larger battery, faster wired charging, wireless charging, and a stated software-support schedule. The Tecno Pova 8 Pro 5G lists a 6.78-inch 144Hz AMOLED screen, a 50MP OIS main camera plus an ultrawide camera, and a 6500mAh battery. There is no reliable price-difference verdict yet: Motorola India displayed a price for the Edge 70 Max, but a comparable POVA 8 Pro price was not visible in the official TECNO India result reviewed.

These are manufacturer-published specifications and claims, not independent test results. In particular, display brightness figures may use different measurement conventions, and the durability labels should not be read as proof of identical certification scope or test conditions. TECNO’s official specification page and Motorola India’s product listing provide the published details.
Which phone has the better performance?
The Edge 70 Max lists the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5, while TECNO lists the Dimensity 7400 Ultimate 5G. The specifications indicate that Motorola is positioning its phone with the higher-tier chipset, but they do not establish a measured speed gap. No independent benchmark or sustained-load test is available here, so claims about gaming frame rates, thermal behavior, or everyday speed should not be inferred from the processor names alone.
Which has the better display?
Both phones list 144Hz refresh rates. TECNO gives specific panel dimensions and resolution: 6.78 inches and 2644×1208. Motorola calls the Edge 70 Max display Quad HD+ (2K) Extreme AMOLED and reports peak brightness up to 7000 nits. That peak-brightness figure is Motorola’s claim, not a directly comparable measurement against TECNO’s listed specifications. Choose based on the published resolution and brightness claims, but a definitive real-world screen-quality winner would require testing.

Which phone has the bigger battery and faster charging?
Motorola lists a 7100mAh silicon-carbon battery, compared with TECNO’s 6500mAh battery. Its listed charging options are also broader: 90W wired charging and 25W Qi2 wireless charging, versus 45W wired charging for the POVA 8 Pro.
Motorola says the Edge 70 Max can provide up to 58 hours of battery life. TECNO says its battery retains at least 80% capacity after 2000 complete charge cycles in TECNO lab testing; the company describes that cycle count as approximately six years under its modeled 1.1-day charging cycle. These are manufacturer claims, not guarantees of an individual phone’s runtime or lifespan. Neither figure substitutes for an independent battery test. TECNO’s product page and footnotes and Motorola’s India listing describe the claims.

Which has the better cameras?
TECNO specifies a 50MP OIS main camera and an 8MP ultrawide camera. Motorola identifies a 50MP Sony LYTIA 710 main camera and lists a 32MP front camera with 4K front-camera video support; the available Motorola source does not supply a complete rear-camera configuration for a like-for-like comparison. TECNO lists a 13MP front camera.
Megapixel counts do not determine photo quality by themselves, and the available specifications do not establish which phone takes better pictures. TECNO also lists its Alive Matrix Display feature, but that does not resolve the camera comparison. Motorola’s newsroom announcement describes its camera and display claims.

- Please note, this device does not support E-SIM; This 4G model is compatible with all GSM networks worldwide outside of the U.S. In the US, ONLY compatible with T-Mobile and their MVNO's (Metro and Standup). It will NOT work with other CDMA carriers, and it is also not compatible with their MVNO (Visible, Xfinity Mobile, US Mobile, Cricket Wireless, etc).
- Compatibility with certain third-party devices and accessibility accessories, including some hearing aids, may vary depending on manufacturer support, Bluetooth protocols, software compatibility, and regional firmware limitations. What is the price difference in India?
Motorola India displayed ₹54,999 for the Edge 70 Max, with an MRP of ₹89,999, and listed 8/256GB and 12/256GB configurations. Those are time-sensitive storefront figures, not a stable market-wide price. TECNO’s official India page was found, but the result reviewed did not show a POVA 8 Pro price or memory configuration. A numeric difference—and a value comparison—cannot be calculated responsibly without a current TECNO price matched to a comparable storage configuration. Check both official listings before buying: Motorola India and TECNO India.
How do software support and durability compare?
The POVA 8 Pro is listed with HiOS 16 based on Android 16. Motorola lists Android 16 for the Edge 70 Max and says it will receive up to 3 years of OS upgrades and up to 5 years of security patches. An equivalent TECNO update-duration commitment was not established in the reviewed official information, so the available details favor Motorola for clarity about stated support duration.

TECNO states IP68/IP69 under IEC 60529:2019 and IP69K under ISO 20653:2023, with testing in controlled laboratory conditions. Motorola states IP68/IP69 and military-standard durability positioning. These claims use different descriptions; they do not establish identical test protocols, model variants, or protection in every real-world situation. Consult the regional product documentation for the exact variant you intend to buy.

- Choose the Edge 70 Max if you prioritize the stronger listed chipset tier, Motorola’s Quad HD+ display specification, higher stated battery capacity, both wired and Qi2 wireless charging, or a published software-support schedule.
- Consider the POVA 8 Pro if its listed 6.78-inch 144Hz AMOLED screen and specified main-plus-ultrawide rear-camera setup fit your needs, and its verified local price and memory configuration are attractive.
- Wait for a direct comparison if camera quality, battery endurance, gaming performance, or value is your deciding factor; the manufacturer specifications alone do not establish a winner for those outcomes.
TECNO’s product page mentions 144FPS PUBG MOBILE support as conditional on a future major game update, with rollout timing dependent on the game’s official update. Treat that capability as pending unless the current game version and device support confirm it. TECNO’s product page includes the qualification.
