The 2023 TECNO Phantom V Flip gets the foldable basics right: a vivid, large 6.9-inch inner screen, a polished compact design, and 45W wired charging. Its 1.32-inch cover screen is much more limited than the outer displays on some rival flip phones, and reviewers found heat and slowdowns under demanding gaming. Camera results also depend on the kind of photos and video you take. It may suit someone who wants an affordable-style clamshell experience, but its 2023 launch price does not establish whether it is a good buy today: current price and availability have not been verified.
What is the TECNO Phantom V Flip?
The Phantom V Flip is TECNO’s original clamshell foldable, announced on September 22, 2023. Its documented India launch configuration had 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, with a reported launch price of ₹49,999. That is historical launch pricing, not a current offer or confirmation that the phone remains available. Android Central’s 2023 review covered the launch model.
It launched with HiOS 13.5, based on Android 13. TECNO’s stated software commitment was two Android version updates and three years of security patches. That commitment does not establish whether every update was delivered or what the phone’s patch status is now.

Brightness figures from different sources are not directly interchangeable. In its 2023 lab test, GSMArena measured 505 nits with brightness set manually to the end of the slider, and 818 nits with High Brightness Mode. GSMArena said HBM needs to be enabled in Display Settings for the automatic-brightness boost.

What are the Phantom V Flip’s pros?
Large, high-refresh inner display
The 6.9-inch inner screen is the phone’s clearest hardware strength. Reviewers praised its display quality, and its LTPO panel can refresh at up to 120Hz. It gives you a spacious screen for everyday browsing and media when the phone is open.
Compact design and a premium-looking finish
Android Authority and Android Central praised the slim design and finish. GSMArena also found the display quality and overall build appealing, though its reviewers noted that the hinge did not open completely flat.
Everyday use and wired charging
Reviewers generally found performance adequate for ordinary use, and Android Central reported generally day-long battery life during its review. The 45W wired charging is a practical advantage. Those observations are review-period experiences, not a guarantee of runtime for every user or a claim about charging time.

Selfie-friendly front camera
The 32MP front camera includes a flash, a feature Android Authority specifically praised. The cover screen can also act as a viewfinder for taking selfies with the rear cameras, although its small size limits how much you can do without opening the phone.
What are the Phantom V Flip’s cons?
The cover screen is small and limited
At 1.32 inches, the circular cover display is suited mainly to checking notifications or framing a selfie. It is not a substitute for a larger outer display if you want to interact with apps or handle more tasks while the phone is folded. Android Authority and Android Central both considered it a significant limitation.
Gaming can expose heat and performance limits
The Dimensity 8050 handled everyday tasks reasonably well in reviews, but demanding games were a different story. Android Central warned that games could lag and run hot. In a 2023 test, GSMArena reported that the upper frame became very hot after 15 minutes of peak GPU load. This makes the phone a less convincing choice for sustained intensive gaming than for routine use.

Camera strengths depend on the shot
Reviewers disagreed on the overall camera experience. GSMArena was relatively positive, while Android Authority criticized low-light results and the ultrawide camera. GSMArena also found video stabilization inadequate unless using a heavily cropped 1080p mode. Treat the cameras as a trade-off: consider how important low-light photos, ultrawide shots, stable video, or flash-assisted selfies are to you rather than relying on a single overall score.
No listed IP rating or wireless charging
Android Central’s specification table did not list an ingress-protection rating, and Android Authority reported no wireless charging. These omissions matter if water resistance or charging without a cable is high on your checklist. The absence of a listed rating should not be read as proof that the phone has no protection whatsoever.
Software support is a dated commitment, not a verified current status
TECNO stated that the phone would receive two Android version updates and three years of security patches. The available 2023 reporting does not confirm delivery of every promised update or the phone’s present patch level. If you are considering a used or remaining-stock device, check its installed Android version and latest security update before buying.

How good is the Phantom V Flip’s battery life?
Battery reports varied by reviewer and test. Android Central described generally day-long use in its review, while 91mobiles identified battery life as a weaker point and recorded 9 hours 59 minutes in its 2023 PCMark Work 3.0 battery test. That benchmark result is specific to the test and should not be treated as a promised real-world runtime. The 4,000mAh capacity and 45W wired charging are the firm specifications; your screen use, network conditions, and workload affect how long a charge lasts.
Should you buy the TECNO Phantom V Flip?
The verdict depends first on what it costs where you live now. The ₹49,999 figure was the reported India launch price in 2023; it is not evidence of today’s price, stock, or value. Check the current local listing, seller, device condition, and warranty before treating an offer as a bargain.
