Checking the offer before you buy
- Find the model 65C8L listing at Richer Sounds and confirm the price shown is £1,519 before you apply anything.
- Enter TCL20PERCENT at checkout and check that the reduction appears in the basket total. If it does not, the code may have expired or may not apply to that listing.

What the review says about the picture
The review summary in the deal article is positive about the picture. It describes an unusually three-dimensional look and crisp native 4K detail, and credits local dimming with bright highlights and deep blacks. The article quotes one passage from its TCL C8L review:
#1 Best Overall
- SQD-Mini LED: As the ultimate Mini LED TV, it integrates the expansive TCL Deep Color System with the breakthrough TCL Halo Control System to ensure the most brilliant, pure, and immersive viewing experience possible.
- TCL Ultra Color Filter: TCL’s Ultra Color Filter with fine 5 nanometer particles (vs. standard 60 nanometer particles) bring every scene to life with pinpoint, pixel-perfect color accuracy.
- High Static Contrast: Experience exceptional picture quality driven by a high 7000:1 contrast ratio for stunning clarity between light and dark scenes.
- High Zones & High Brightness: Up to 4000+ Discrete Dimming Zones and up to 6,000 Peak Nits combine for a picture that is brighter, deeper, and more realistic.
- AI-Powered Experience: Elevate every viewing experience with AI Color for vibrant hues, AI Contrast for dynamic depth, AI Clarity for razor-sharp detail, AI Motion for smooth action, AI Upscaling for lifelike resolution, and AI Sound for immersive, crystal-clear audio.
“This colour blend finesse feeds into an impressively three-dimensional look to pictures, regardless of whether you’re using the TV’s Standard or as-the-director-intended Filmmaker Mode preset, as well as an outstandingly crisp, detailed look to native 4K images where you feel like you’re appreciating the full and accurate weight of every single pixel.”
The deal article does not name the reviewer who wrote that passage, so attribute it to the What Hi-Fi? TCL C8L review.

Gaming and HDR
For gamers, the headline features are 4K at 144Hz, variable refresh rate (VRR), Auto Low Latency Mode (ALLM) and a 10.1 ms input lag figure. The article also lists support for up to 288Hz at HD resolution. Because the deal article does not explain how the input lag was measured, treat 10.1 ms as the review’s figure rather than a standard comparison point. For HDR, the set supports HDR10, HLG, HDR10+ and Dolby Vision, which covers the main formats a buyer is likely to encounter.
Sound and the review’s reservations
The built-in Bang & Olufsen 2.1.2-channel system is described positively for its spatial presentation. The review’s main caveat is that the sound can sometimes lose coherence and emphasise the wrong elements. Anyone who relies heavily on TV speakers for dialogue or music should consider a separate soundbar, or at least listen to the set before committing to it.

How to weigh it against other 65-inch TVs
The deal article does not compare the C8L with rival sets, so the factors below are the ones to check on any competing model:
- Price and availability at the time you buy, not the price in an earlier article
- Screen size and whether a 65-inch model is the right fit for your room
- Peak brightness and local dimming, noting whether each figure comes from the manufacturer or an independent test
- Gaming refresh rate, VRR support and input lag, along with how each lag figure was measured
- Supported HDR formats, especially if you plan to use Dolby Vision or HDR10+ content
- Smart-TV platform and the streaming and catch-up apps you use
- Built-in sound quality and the cost of an external speaker if you need one
Bottom line
On the figures reported by What Hi-Fi? on 8 October 2026, the TCL C8L 65-inch 4K Mini LED TV is a strong option at £1,519 with code TCL20PERCENT at Richer Sounds, provided the offer is still live when you check it. The five-star review, the reported brightness and dimming specifications, and the gaming and HDR support all point the same way. The article does not compare the set with rivals, and it does not establish that this is the best 65-inch TV at this price. Confirm the price, code terms and stock before you buy.
