What Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon offers
Tainted Grail draws on Arthurian legend but frames it as dark fantasy, not a straightforward historical retelling. Its official store calls it a mature, first-person open-world RPG in a dark fantasy realm inspired by Arthurian legends. The PlayStation description adds the bleak island setting and mentions quests, loot, choices, and monsters.
That makes it the more natural fit if you want a medieval-feeling world shaped by supernatural danger and fantasy imagery. The official descriptions establish that premise; they do not, by themselves, establish how its combat or exploration compares with Kingdom Come: Deliverance II.
What Kingdom Come: Deliverance II offers
Kingdom Come: Deliverance II is presented as a story-driven action RPG set in 15th-century Medieval Europe, following young Henry. Its Steam listing describes a rich open world and categorizes the game as first-person and open world. The setting is historical rather than an Arthurian fantasy realm, which makes it the clearer choice if you want your RPG centered on a medieval European story and its protagonist.

How to choose between them
Choose Tainted Grail for dark fantasy
- You want a setting inspired by Arthurian legend rather than a historical period.
- Monsters and supernatural threats are part of the appeal.
- You prefer the promise of a mature open-world fantasy RPG built around quests, loot, and choices.
Choose Kingdom Come: Deliverance II for historical medieval role-playing
- You want a story set in 15th-century Europe.
- You are drawn to playing through young Henry’s story.
- You would rather have a historical setting than an invented dark-fantasy realm.
This is a recommendation based on the games’ official descriptions, not a claim that one is objectively better. The available official listings do not establish a controlled comparison of combat, playtime, performance, or polish, so those are not reliable tie-breakers here.

Check platform and edition before buying
Availability, prices, and edition contents can differ by platform and region. Tainted Grail has official PlayStation and Xbox listings as well as an official site with edition and system-requirement information. Kingdom Come: Deliverance II is listed on Steam with add-ons. Use the store for your territory to confirm the current platform listing, requirements, price, and exactly what the selected edition includes.
