T1 is the organization’s main League of Legends team. T1 Esports Academy is a separate team that competes in the LCK Challengers League (LCK CL). T1 also has a separately listed T1 Esports Academy Rookies roster, which competes in the LCK Academy Series. So “T1 Academy” can be ambiguous: the team’s full name and league identify which roster you mean.
How the T1 teams differ
| Team | Competition | What it means for viewers |
|---|---|---|
| T1 | LCK (the main League of Legends competition referenced by the organization’s team listing) | The organization’s main team, listed separately from its academy-linked rosters. Leaguepedia |
| T1 Esports Academy | LCK Challengers League (LCK CL) | T1’s team in the LCK CL, the second-tier competition associated with the LCK. The official LoL Esports listing includes the team among participants in the 2026 LCK Challengers standings event, marked completed for July–September. Official LoL Esports event listing |
| T1 Esports Academy Rookies | LCK Academy Series (LCK AS) | A distinct trainee roster; a reference to Rookies should not be mistaken for the LCK CL team. Leaguepedia |
What does “T1 Academy” mean?
In casual conversation, “academy” may refer broadly to a development setup rather than one uniquely named team. In the available team listings, T1 Esports Academy and T1 Esports Academy Rookies are separate entries in different competitions. If you are checking a schedule, result, or roster, look for the full team name and the league rather than relying on “T1 Academy” alone. Is the LCK CL team guaranteed to feed players into T1?
No such guarantee follows from league placement. The competition identifies which team is playing; by itself, it does not establish that any particular player will be promoted to T1’s main roster. The available team listings also do not establish a fixed promotion path between the academy-linked rosters.

How to tell which T1 roster a match features
- Check the exact team name. “T1,” “T1 Esports Academy,” and “T1 Esports Academy Rookies” are separately listed teams.
- Check the competition. The LCK CL identifies T1 Esports Academy; the LCK Academy Series identifies T1 Esports Academy Rookies.
- Check the season and date. Rosters and results can change, so use the listing for the specific event rather than assuming an older roster or result still applies.
