Swara Bhasker said on Rise and Fall that a director proposed rehearsing a romantic scene alone with her, later came to her room at night and asked for a hug. She recalled refusing and telling him, “I told him to his face that he’s scaring me.” The incident is Bhasker’s account as reported on October 1, 2026; the coverage does not independently establish what happened or identify the director.
What Bhasker said happened
Bhasker recounted the experience during a conversation on Rise and Fall, according to reports by Hindustan Times and The Indian Express, both published October 1, 2026. She placed the events after the success of Tanu Weds Manu, during a later film shoot.
According to the Hindustan Times account, Bhasker said the director sent her poetry and messages about her appearance before proposing that they rehearse a romantic scene alone. She said she asked for the actor and camera team to be present instead. She also recalled being the only woman staying at the guesthouse and later seeing the director and cinematographer drinking.
Bhasker said the director came to her room at night and knocked repeatedly, asking for a hug. She recalled refusing: “I said no, you cannot get a hug.” She also said she told him he was frightening her. These details are reported as her recollection, not as independently verified findings.
