There is no evidence-based winner for everyone: choose based on device limits, the exact plan and renewal price, and the performance characteristics that matter to you. Surfshark lists unlimited simultaneous connections and tends to have lower advertised long-term prices in published comparisons; NordVPN may suit readers who want selected bundled features or steadier latency in one comparison. Neither price nor speed result is a guarantee of what you will pay or experience.
Which VPN is better for you?
For a household with many devices, Surfshark’s listed unlimited simultaneous connections are a practical advantage over NordVPN’s limit of 10. If price is the priority, dated comparisons generally put Surfshark’s advertised long-term offer lower, though the published figures differ and checkout terms matter. NordVPN may appeal if you want its particular plan extras or place greater weight on the latency consistency RTINGS reported in its comparison.
These are conditional trade-offs, not a universal ranking. Compare like-for-like tiers: a VPN-only plan is not equivalent to a bundle with antivirus, password management, or cloud storage.

Published price figures are snapshots of promotional offers, not stable monthly bills. They vary by publication, date, region, billing term, tax, and renewal terms. A displayed monthly equivalent may require paying the full subscription term upfront.

How many devices can you connect?
Surfshark lists unlimited simultaneous connections; NordVPN lists a maximum of 10. That difference can matter if one subscription must cover phones, computers, tablets, televisions, or other household devices. Device limits describe simultaneous connections, not how many devices you own or can install an app on.

Which VPN is faster for streaming?
No cited comparison establishes that either service will always be faster for a particular person, streaming platform, country, or catalog. Speed depends on the connection, server, distance, time, and service. The measured results below are useful context, not a prediction for every streaming session.
- Security.org reported average download-speed loss of 5.8% for NordVPN and 7.8% for Surfshark in its comparison test. It reported average upload-speed loss of 4.1% and 49.9%, respectively. Those results belong to Security.org’s test conditions and should not be treated as universal expected performance. Security.org comparison
- RTINGS described overall performance as broadly similar while reporting more consistent latency for NordVPN in its comparison. That is a separate test context, not a promise of lower latency on every route or device. RTINGS comparison
For streaming outside your home country, these sources do not support a guarantee that either VPN will work with a specific service or unlock a particular catalog. Availability can change, and a test result is not proof of ongoing access.

What features come with each plan?
Bundled features depend on the tier and platform, so compare the exact plan you would buy rather than assuming every feature comes with the base VPN subscription.

- NordVPN: Security.org lists password-manager and cloud-storage extras among NordVPN’s tiers. Confirm which tier includes each feature and whether it works on your devices. Security.org comparison
- Surfshark: Security.org describes Surfshark One tiers as adding antivirus and privacy tools. Check the tier and platform-specific availability before treating an extra as part of your plan. Security.org comparison
What do the privacy claims and audits establish?
Both services make no-logs and privacy claims, but “no logs” should not be read as “no information is processed whatsoever.” Account details and operational data can be distinct from records of browsing activity, and an audit covers a defined scope at a point in time rather than every future practice.

- Next-Gen Gigabit Wi-Fi 6 Speeds: 2402 Mbps on 5 GHz and 574 Mbps on 2.4 GHz bands ensure smoother streaming and faster downloads; support VPN server and VPN client¹
- A More Responsive Experience: Enjoy smooth gaming, video streaming, and live feeds simultaneously. OFDMA makes your Wi-Fi stronger by allowing multiple clients to share one band at the same time, cutting latency and jitter.²
- Expanded Wi-Fi Coverage: 4 high-gain external antennas and Beamforming technology combine to extend strong, reliable, Wi-Fi throughout your home.
- Improved Battery Life: Target Wake Time helps your devices to communicate efficiently while consuming less power.
- Improved Cooling Design: No heat ups, no throttles. A larger heat sink and redefined case design cools the WiFi 6 system and enables your network to stay at top speeds in more versatile environments.
Tom’s Guide reports that NordVPN’s sixth no-logs audit took place in February 2026 and discusses connection metadata retained to enforce its 10-device policy. That account illustrates why it is important to distinguish activity logs from operational metadata; it does not establish that all account or operational data is absent. Tom’s Guide NordVPN review

Quick Recap
What should you check before subscribing?
- Choose the plan tier you actually need, and compare equivalent VPN-only plans or equivalent bundles.
- At checkout, confirm the full upfront charge, subscription length, tax, region, and renewal price and period.
- Check the simultaneous connection limit against the number of devices likely to be connected at once.
- Verify that any bundled feature you value is included in that tier and supported on your platform.
- Read the provider’s current refund terms for your purchase route and region. The cited comparisons do not establish a single refund rule applicable to every subscriber.
