What “protects your privacy” means for a subscription tracker
Privacy depends on more than whether an app stores your bank password. Consider what information you enter or the service receives, whether it is sent to a server, how the app syncs or backs up data, and what options you have to unlink accounts or delete information. A service can avoid storing bank credentials while still processing financial transaction data.
Also distinguish a vendor’s description of its practices from independent verification. The cited product pages describe what the companies say their apps do; they do not establish that an independent auditor has verified every claim. Local storage, in particular, is not by itself proof that an app has no network activity.

Manual entry limits the financial-account information the app needs: you do not have to link a bank account for the described tracking model. The trade-off is that you must keep the records current yourself. The listing’s local-storage claim also does not answer every question about backups, device transfers, or network activity.
Rocket Money: more automation, more account-data processing
Rocket Money detects subscriptions using activity from linked financial accounts. Its security page says Plaid handles most connections and Akoya handles Fidelity connections. Rocket Money says bank credentials are sent to the connection provider and are not seen or stored by Rocket Money. That credential statement is not the same as saying the service receives no financial information: the product uses transaction data from linked accounts to identify subscriptions. Before relying on any Bobby privacy claim, match the app’s publisher and store listing to the privacy policy linked from that exact listing. Without that match, a comparison of Bobby’s storage, account connections, or deletion controls would be speculative.

Choose Rocket Money if automatic detection matters more

Hold off on a privacy verdict for Bobby
