If a prerecorded StreamYard video sounds out of sync on YouTube, first play the original file locally. Then compare it with the StreamYard output and YouTube playback. Check whether the audio and video tracks have the same duration; if the source is already out of sync, re-encode it using StreamYard’s recommended settings, upload the new file, and test a short segment before scheduling the full stream.
Find where the audio sync problem begins
Compare the same point in three places: the original video file, the prerecorded output from StreamYard, and the YouTube version. This does not establish which service is at fault; it helps isolate where the symptom first appears.
- Play the original file locally. Note whether speech or other audio is already early or late relative to the picture.
- Check the StreamYard output. If the original is in sync but this version is not, the mismatch appeared later in the workflow.
- Check YouTube playback. If the source and StreamYard output look synchronized but YouTube does not, compare the YouTube version in another browser, player, or device before concluding the uploaded video itself is faulty.
Also note the pattern. A similar offset from start to finish is different from drift that grows as the video plays. These observations narrow the diagnosis, but the cause of a particular video cannot be determined without the file and playback details.

Check the audio and video track durations
YouTube advises: “Make sure the durations of your audio and video tracks are the same.” If one track is shorter or longer, edit the tracks in video-editing software before uploading: “To edit your audio and video tracks, use a video editing software before uploading your content to YouTube.” YouTube’s upload encoding recommendations also list preferred upload frame rates of 24, 25, 30, 48, 50, and 60 FPS.

Use an editor or media-inspection tool to compare the audio and video stream durations. If they differ, correct the timeline or export so the tracks end together, then check the result locally. Matching durations does not by itself prove that sync is correct throughout the file, so listen and watch at the beginning and near the end as well.
Re-encode a source file that is out of sync
StreamYard’s prerecorded-stream optimization guidance recommends the following settings for its prerecorded workflow. It recommends HandBrake for re-encoding. Treat these as vendor guidance, not a guaranteed fix for every sync issue.

Labels and control locations can vary by HandBrake version. Export a new file rather than overwriting the original, then play the export locally before uploading it.

- PLUG IN AND HEAR SOUND IN SECONDS - USB Type-A connector with a 3.5mm stereo headphone output and a separate 3.5mm mono microphone input. No drivers, no software, no external power - the adapter is USB bus-powered and is recognized as a standard USB audio device.
- WORKS ON WINDOWS, MAC AND LINUX - Driverless on Windows 98SE/ME/2000/XP/Server 2003/Vista/7/8, Linux and Mac OSX, and compliant with the USB Audio Device Class 1.0 specification, so any system that supports class-compliant USB audio will see it. Select it as the sound output and input device after plugging it in.
- TWO JACKS, TWO JOBS - The green jack is stereo OUT for headphones or powered speakers; the pink jack is mono microphone IN for a 3.5mm mic. It does NOT support 4-pole headsets on a single combo plug, it does NOT power passive speakers, and it does NOT add surround sound - it is a stereo 2-channel adapter.
- FOR LAPTOPS AND DESKTOPS THAT NEED AN AUDIO PORT BACK - Adds a headphone and mic port to a laptop, desktop, or mini PC whose onboard jack has failed or was never there. Managed and work-issued computers can block new USB audio devices by policy - check with your IT department before ordering for a company machine.
- SABRENT SUPPORT AND WARRANTY - What is in the box: one USB audio sound adapter. Backed by a 1-year limited warranty, extended to 2 years when you register within 90 days on the manufacturer's website.
Upload and test before scheduling again
- Upload the corrected file to StreamYard.
- Run a short prerecorded test and check the opening and a later point for sync and drift.
- Check the resulting YouTube playback, ideally in a second playback environment if the first still appears wrong.
- Schedule or stream the full video only after the test is satisfactory.
StreamYard’s prerecorded-stream troubleshooting also recommends re-encoding with HandBrake and re-uploading for prerecorded lagging or upload problems. Its current help information describes MP4/MOV uploads with H.264 video and AAC audio, and says limits depend on plan; check the current prerecorded video requirements and optimization guidance for applicable limits and settings.
Try general audio checks only if the file checks do not explain it
StreamYard’s general audio guidance recommends trying Chrome or Firefox, disabling browser extensions that may affect audio, and checking the selected device and its settings. It says StreamYard is optimized for 48,000 Hz (48 kHz). Those steps are more relevant to general audio-quality or browser/device problems than to a sync fault already present in a prerecorded file. See StreamYard’s audio troubleshooting guide.

Troubleshooting by symptom
- The original file is already out of sync: Check track durations, correct the timeline if needed, then re-encode using the recommended settings and verify the new file locally.
- The original is fine, but the StreamYard output is not: Re-encode and re-upload a test file. If the problem persists, record the file details and the point where the mismatch appears before contacting StreamYard support.
- The StreamYard output seems fine, but YouTube does not: Compare YouTube playback in another browser or device and inspect the track durations. This comparison can distinguish a playback-environment symptom from a file symptom; it does not alone identify YouTube as the cause.
- The offset grows over time: Record the approximate offset near the beginning and end. Check the exported file across its duration and confirm its frame-rate and audio settings before another full stream.
- The issue appears in only one browser or device: Try another player or device, and apply StreamYard’s browser, extension, and selected-device checks if you are using its studio.
What to send support if the problem remains
To make the issue reproducible, include the original file’s codec, frame rate, and audio details; whether it is out of sync when played locally; the approximate offset at the beginning and end; the browser or device used for YouTube playback; and whether another player shows the same symptom. These are useful diagnostic details, not a published official checklist for this exact issue.
