If your Streamlabs Talk Studio YouTube stream has audio out of sync, first check Talk Studio’s selected microphone and output device and browser permissions. Then make a short recording or private test and compare the same moment in the recording and YouTube playback. This helps distinguish a capture problem from an issue in the live delivery or playback path; it is a diagnostic approach, not a published Talk Studio sync-fix procedure.
First identify what is out of sync
Note whether speech is ahead of or behind the picture, whether the offset stays constant or grows, and whether it affects every speaker or just one guest. Check the same moment in a Talk Studio recording as well as the YouTube stream or VOD.
- Recording and YouTube are both out of sync: start by investigating the selected device, capture path, and affected speaker or source.
- Recording is aligned but YouTube playback is not: investigate the live delivery and playback path separately. This comparison is an inference from Talk Studio’s recording features and YouTube’s latency guidance, not a documented Talk Studio decision tree.
- Audio and video stay together, but both arrive late: that is stream latency, not necessarily an audio/video sync fault. YouTube describes latency as the delay between capture and display to a viewer.
- Only one guest or source is affected: focus the test on that input or participant rather than changing settings for every source.
- The offset grows over time: record whether it drifts progressively; that detail can help support distinguish the symptom from a constant offset.
Check Talk Studio’s audio devices and permissions
- Allow the browser to access the microphone and other devices Talk Studio needs.
- In Talk Studio, use the arrow beside the Mute control to review the selected audio input and output. Do not assume the operating system’s default device is the one Talk Studio is using.
- Re-select the intended microphone and output device, then use Talk Studio’s available test function.
- Make a short test with a clear spoken phrase or clap that is easy to locate in both audio and video.
Streamlabs’ Talk Studio Getting Started guide covers browser permissions, device selection, testing, and recording. It was published October 24, 2023 and last updated October 1, 2025.

Use a recording to isolate the problem
Talk Studio supports cloud recording and local recording; local recordings can include separate tracks for each participant. Compare the same cue in the local recording and YouTube playback. If the local capture is already out of sync, focus on the capture and device path. If it is aligned, look at the live delivery or playback path instead.

- For a guest-specific issue, inspect that participant’s track when available.
- Avoid changing audio or video settings during a local recording. Streamlabs says changing those settings ends the current recording and starts another.
See Streamlabs’ Local Recording guidance for the recording behavior and separate participant tracks.
Check connection stability and computer load
Talk Studio’s network indicators can help reveal connection or browser-computer trouble, particularly if sync symptoms appear alongside freezing or disconnections. In Talk Studio, open Menu > Settings > Participants and enable the network indicators.

- Four bars or fewer: Streamlabs describes this as an unstable connection.
- No connection: the participant has lost connection.
- CPU icon: the browser or computer is struggling with the stream. Close unused browser windows and other software, then repeat the test.
These indicators can identify concurrent problems, but an icon by itself does not prove the cause of an audio/video timing mismatch. Streamlabs’ Network Indicators article, dated April 25, 2025, explains the warnings. Its author, Kevin, says the indicators are meant to show connection stability and CPU overuse while a device struggles to keep up with HD livestreaming.
Streamlabs’ 2023 Getting Started guide recommends at least 5 Mbps upload as a minimum connection for Talk Studio. It lists 5 Mbps required and 10 Mbps recommended for 720p, and 10 Mbps required and 20 Mbps recommended for 1080p. Treat these as the guide’s connection recommendations, not as a guaranteed cure for sync issues.

- PLUG IN AND HEAR SOUND IN SECONDS - USB Type-A connector with a 3.5mm stereo headphone output and a separate 3.5mm mono microphone input. No drivers, no software, no external power - the adapter is USB bus-powered and is recognized as a standard USB audio device.
- WORKS ON WINDOWS, MAC AND LINUX - Driverless on Windows 98SE/ME/2000/XP/Server 2003/Vista/7/8, Linux and Mac OSX, and compliant with the USB Audio Device Class 1.0 specification, so any system that supports class-compliant USB audio will see it. Select it as the sound output and input device after plugging it in.
- TWO JACKS, TWO JOBS - The green jack is stereo OUT for headphones or powered speakers; the pink jack is mono microphone IN for a 3.5mm mic. - FOR LAPTOPS AND DESKTOPS THAT NEED AN AUDIO PORT BACK - Adds a headphone and mic port to a laptop, desktop, or mini PC whose onboard jack has failed or was never there. Managed and work-issued computers can block new USB audio devices by policy - check with your IT department before ordering for a company machine.

Distinguish YouTube latency from an audio/video offset
Latency is the time between capture and when viewers see the stream. A stream may have noticeable viewer delay while the audio and picture remain synchronized. If lips and speech disagree, troubleshoot A/V sync; if picture and sound match but arrive late, investigate delivery latency and network conditions. YouTube’s live-stream troubleshooting guidance and latency guidance explain stream delivery and latency, but neither documents a Talk Studio-specific sync-offset adjustment.
When to contact Streamlabs support

The reviewed Talk Studio help pages explain device selection, recording, network indicators, and destination setup, but do not document a manual audio sync-offset control or a guaranteed correction. Do not apply Streamlabs Desktop timing controls as though they were Talk Studio settings. Streamlabs’ destination troubleshooting article addresses YouTube channel verification and setup, rather than audio synchronization.
