For a simple camera stream, YouTube’s built-in live options may be enough. These are different workflows, not interchangeable versions of the same tool.
Choose by stream format
| Your format | Best starting point | What to consider |
|---|---|---|
| Live bhajan singing or instrumental performance | OBS Studio | Local scene and audio control, audio-input setup, and whether your computer can handle the production. |
| Hosted devotional program with musicians or guests joining remotely | StreamYard | Guest workflow, branding, recording limits, destination count, and current plan terms. |
| Continuous prerecorded program, playlist, or radio-style channel | StreamNeo | Rights for every uploaded asset, cloud operation, playlists, service terms, and YouTube policy. |
| Direct camera stream without encoder-style production | YouTube’s built-in live options | Channel eligibility, camera and audio needs, and the production controls you require. |
This is a workflow-based recommendation, not a performance ranking. There has been no comparative uptime, latency, or audio-quality test of these products.
Check YouTube eligibility before choosing software
YouTube requires a verified channel with no live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days; it also states that users must be at least 16 to live stream. See YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility guidance for current requirements. YouTube supports mobile, webcam, encoder, and console methods. An encoder is useful when you need overlays or equipment such as microphones and preamps, and YouTube notes that encoder streams are commonly used for concerts and conferences: YouTube’s guide to streaming with an encoder.
OBS Studio: for a live performance you produce yourself
OBS Studio is the strongest fit here when you are singing or playing live and want local control over scenes, sources, and audio. The OBS Project describes it as free and open-source software for recording and live streaming. Its production controls include scenes, audio mixing, and per-source filters; that flexibility also means you must configure and monitor a computer during the broadcast. The OBS homepage listed version 32.2.2, dated August 14, 2026, when checked; confirm the current release at the OBS Project.

Typical live-performance setup
- Confirm the channel is eligible. Complete YouTube verification and check for live-stream restrictions before setting up OBS.
- Plan the audio path. Connect your microphone or instrument chain to the computer and confirm that OBS receives the intended input. A USB microphone can be convenient, but it is not required; creators with XLR microphones may use their existing mixer or audio interface.
- Build scenes and sources. Add the camera, performance view, titles, and any permitted visual material as sources in OBS scenes. Use audio mixing and source filters to manage the live mix.
- Connect to YouTube using its current encoder workflow. In YouTube Studio, create or schedule the live stream and use the stream key and server details shown for that event. Keep the key private; anyone with access may be able to broadcast to your channel.
- Check the preview and audio before going live. Confirm the correct camera, sound source, levels, and overlays in the encoder preview, then start the broadcast when ready.
Exact OBS and YouTube labels can change. Follow the current OBS and YouTube interface rather than relying on an old screenshot or a remembered menu path.
StreamYard: for a browser-hosted devotional show
StreamYard is a better fit than a local encoder when the core task is hosting a live conversation, devotional program, or co-performance with remote guests. Its plan page lists guest, recording, and multistream capabilities. At the time reflected on that page, Free listed six on-screen participants and two hours per month of local recording; Core listed three multistream destinations and Advanced listed eight. These are vendor-listed plan specifications and may change. The page also warns that pricing can vary with promotions, renewals, and custom offers, so check StreamYard’s current pricing and plan details before choosing.

- Blue VO!CE software: Elevate your streamings and recordings with clear broadcast vocal sound and entertain your audience with enhanced effects, advanced modulation and HD audio samples

Compare the guest experience and recording limits as well as the destination count. A hosted guest workflow solves a different problem from OBS’s local production control or a cloud loop of prerecorded material.
StreamNeo: for unattended prerecorded YouTube programming
StreamNeo is a cloud service for keeping a YouTube channel live from uploaded videos or playlists. It is the first choice for a 24/7 prerecorded stream in this comparison: it runs from the cloud, supports uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps at one flat price per slot, and offers a free first day. StreamNeo says it can continue after your computer is off and attempts automatic recovery if YouTube drops the stream; these are vendor claims, not independent endurance-test results. It plays uploaded videos, not a live camera feed, and streams to YouTube only. See StreamNeo for its current terms and details.

Copyright and YouTube policy matter more than the streaming tool
Software does not give you permission to broadcast a bhajan recording. Confirm that you have rights to both the musical composition and the particular sound recording, including an arrangement, backing track, and any footage in the stream. YouTube says Content ID claims may block a video, monetize it, or track viewership, and effects can vary by geography. A Content ID claim is distinct from a copyright removal request or strike; see YouTube’s explanation of Content ID claims.
A continuous loop is not automatically policy-safe or monetizable. YouTube’s spam policy warns against automated or synthetic mass production of repetitive content, evading detection through changes such as audio manipulation or cropping, and deceptive engagement manipulation. Violations can lead to monetization suspension or channel or account termination. Make programming original and rights-cleared, and add genuine value rather than assuming that a technically continuous stream complies: YouTube’s spam, deceptive practices, and scams policy.

Common setup problems and what to check
- You cannot start a live stream: verify the channel and check its live-streaming eligibility and restrictions in YouTube Studio.
- YouTube does not receive the encoder feed: confirm you are using the stream key and server details for the intended event, and that the key has not been changed or exposed.
- The broadcast has picture but no performance audio: check the selected input and signal path in OBS or the hosted platform, then verify the audio in the preview before going live.
- A devotional track is claimed, blocked, or monetized: review the claim and its geographic effect in YouTube Studio, and verify permissions for the composition and specific recording. Changing streaming software does not resolve missing rights.
- A long-running prerecorded stream stops: if using a local setup, check the computer, network, and encoder; for a cloud service, check its dashboard and service terms. StreamNeo says it attempts recovery after a YouTube drop, but no independent uptime result is established here.
How to decide
Choose OBS Studio if the devotional content is happening live and you want control over scenes and audio. Choose StreamYard if remote guests and a browser-hosted show are central. Choose YouTube’s direct options for a straightforward camera broadcast. Choose StreamNeo when you have rights-cleared recordings or playlists and want an unattended, continuous YouTube program. Compare current plan terms and confirm the rights and platform-policy fit before broadcasting.
