To stream prerecorded video on YouTube around the clock without leaving your computer on, use a cloud-hosted playout or encoder service that sends the video to a YouTube Live event. YouTube lists Gyre as an example for continuous prerecorded streaming, but verify any provider’s features and terms directly: cloud hosting removes the need to run your own encoder, not every possible failure.
Cloud streaming versus running an encoder yourself
A local software or hardware encoder processes and sends the stream from your device, so that device and its network connection must remain available. A cloud encoder moves that processing to a hosted service, which can be a better fit for continuous prerecorded video. YouTube describes cloud service encoders as an option for reducing the load on your computer and lists Gyre for 24/7 prerecorded streaming without a dedicated PC. YouTube notes that listed encoders are not made by YouTube.

YouTube explains that an encoder converts video into a digital format for streaming. A cloud service may offer the workflow you need, but its specific capabilities, reliability, and cost must be confirmed with the provider.
What to check before choosing a service
Do not assume that every cloud encoder can loop files, schedule content, recover automatically, or run without a duration limit. Compare providers on the features that matter to your channel and confirm current terms in their documentation or with their support team.

Prepare your YouTube channel and live event
Before you rely on a service, check that your channel can live stream. YouTube says a channel must be verified and have no live-streaming restrictions in the preceding 90 days. First-time live-streaming activation may take up to 24 hours, so enable it ahead of your planned start.
- In YouTube Studio, create or schedule a live stream and locate its stream URL and stream key.
- Enter the URL and key in the cloud service’s YouTube connection settings. Treat the stream key as sensitive account access information; do not share it publicly.
- Upload or select your prerecorded video and configure the service’s available playlist, loop, or schedule options.
- Start a test and preview the incoming feed in YouTube Live Control Room before depending on it for a continuous broadcast.
Test stream quality and reliability
Test with representative movement and audio. Confirm that the feed appears on the channel or watch page and plays on a mobile device, then monitor stream health and audio/video quality. YouTube recommends leaving 20% upload-bandwidth headroom for streams sent from a local encoder; account for primary and backup streams when applicable. That guidance is relevant when your own connection sends a feed, while a cloud service’s upload and delivery requirements should be checked with that provider.

YouTube’s encoder guidance recommends RTMPS, constant bitrate (CBR), and a two-second keyframe interval, with a maximum of four seconds. Check that the service supports the settings you need. YouTube transcodes live streams into formats for different viewers and devices, but neither that nor using a cloud service guarantees uninterrupted streaming.
Plan for interruptions and archives
A hosted service means your computer does not need to stay on, but interruptions can still occur at the provider, YouTube, or network level. Check how the service handles reconnects and what alerts or monitoring it provides. Make a backup plan rather than assuming that a stream will recover automatically or remain live forever.

YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. Do not assume a 24/7 broadcast will be saved as one complete video. Check current YouTube guidance and the provider’s documentation for archive, restart, and segmentation behavior before planning around recordings.

Does a cloud service guarantee that my YouTube stream will never go offline?

Will YouTube archive a 24/7 stream as one video?
Do not count on that. YouTube states that streams under 12 hours are automatically archived; verify current archive behavior for longer streams and any service-specific segmentation.
