State Road 100 reopened at 12:45 p.m. on July 13, 2026, after a fatal crash about 1.2 miles west of Bertha Road in western Flagler County. Responders had rerouted traffic along County Road 35 during the closure.
Where and when the crash happened
The crash occurred on State Road 100 about 1.2 miles west of Bertha Road, according to the Daytona Beach News-Journal account republished by AOL. The account, credited to Frank Fernandez, says the road was blocked at Water Oak Road while responders worked at the scene.
What happened, according to FHP
The report attributes the crash sequence to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP): a 57-year-old DeLeon Springs man was driving a pickup westbound when, for an unknown reason, it entered the eastbound lane and collided with an eastbound tractor-trailer.
- The pickup driver died.
- The tractor-trailer driver, a 59-year-old man from Port St. Lucie, sustained minor injuries.
- The report says both drivers were wearing seat belts.
The reported cause remains unknown; the account does not describe a settled investigative finding.

When the road reopened and how traffic was rerouted
The Flagler County Sheriff’s Office stated that State Road 100 reopened at 12:45 p.m. Responders rerouted traffic along County Road 35 during the closure. That is the route reported for the response, not a recommendation for current travel; check current traffic information before choosing a route.
Do not confuse this with the October crash
A separate fatal crash was reported on October 2, 2026, near West Black Point Road. It was a different event from the July 13 crash near Bertha Road; the locations, dates, and circumstances should not be combined.
