You can run community mods in Star Wars: Zero Company, but there is no official mod support. EA says it has “a lot of respect for the modding community,” but “there is no official mod support planned” for the game. The right installation method depends on the mod’s format and your game build: check the mod’s instructions first, then use a manager or install its files manually.
Choose the installation method that matches the mod
Zero Company mods do not all use the same format. Community documentation describes packaged file mods, UE4SS scripting or logic mods, and Engine.ini configuration presets; some mods may combine requirements. There is no Steam Workshop or in-game mod browser documented for the game. Start with the individual mod’s page, which should say what it needs and where its files belong. See the community mod listing and installation guidance.
- Packaged file mod: An archive containing files to add to the game, often installable through a compatible mod manager or manual file placement.
- UE4SS mod: A script or logic mod that requires the UE4SS loader. Install the loader first, then follow the mod’s own placement instructions.
- Engine.ini preset: A configuration change. Follow the mod author’s specific path and directions rather than treating it like a packaged mod.
If the mod supports a manager, that can simplify installation and removal. Otherwise, manual installation may be necessary. Compatibility also depends on the store and executable build, so do not assume that instructions verified for one version apply to another.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsInstall with a dedicated Zero Company manager
A community-made manager listing describes game detection, archive importing, managed installations, and optional one-click UE4SS setup. Its listing says it has portable Windows 10/11 builds and a Linux/Steam Deck AppImage. These are community tool features, not official EA support; check the manager’s current release and installation instructions before relying on a particular feature or platform.
#1 Best Overall
- Standard Edition for PlayStation 5 (disc) includes the full Star Wars Zero Company game. Single-player turn-based tactics set in the twilight of the Clone Wars—lead Hawks and Zero Company in an intense campaign.
- Build your squad from clone troopers, scoundrels, astromechs and even a Jedi—combine abilities and gear in deep Tactical-Strategy combat.
- Plan at your base, adapt on dynamic battlefields and make decisions that shape missions and replayability in this cinematic Star Wars story.
- Customise Hawks and your operatives, tailor loadouts and unlock powerful squad synergies designed for Strategy, Turn-Based and Sci-Fi fans.
- Read the mod’s page and confirm that it supports your game version and the manager.
- Install and open the manager, then follow its current instructions to locate or detect your game installation.
- Import the mod archive as directed by the manager. If it offers UE4SS setup, use that only when the mod requires UE4SS and the loader instructions match your build.
- Launch the game and check that the mod works before adding more. Use the manager’s own removal or disable controls when testing or undoing a change.
Use Vortex when the mod’s instructions support it
Community instructions describe a workflow requiring the Zero Company extension for Vortex. They also say Nexus does not currently provide the usual “Mod Manager Download” button for this game, so the described approach is to download the archive manually and add it to Vortex. Check the current extension instructions and the mod page before proceeding; interface options and compatibility can change.
- Install the Zero Company extension for Vortex according to its current documentation.
- Download the mod archive manually from its page.
- Use Vortex’s archive-import workflow and follow the mod-specific instructions for deployment and any prerequisites.
- Test the game before enabling additional mods.
Install UE4SS before a mod that requires it
Use this method only if the mod says it requires UE4SS. The current community compatibility package identifies version 1.1.1 as tested with Steam build 25134257 and executable version 196985. Its listing says one full ZIP covers the tested Steam and EA App versions, but Epic and other executable builds are unverified. Recheck the UE4SS compatibility package page for its current version and tested scope before installing.

- PC download code for EA app. Single-player turn-based tactics set in the twilight of the Clone Wars—lead Hawks and Zero Company in a gritty Star Wars campaign.
- Deluxe Edition: Unlock Clone Wars–inspired cosmetics including the Republic Officer Uniform, 100th Clone Company Armor Set and ARC Trooper Armor Set.
- Includes the Shadow Collective Cosmetic Pack with the Pyke Helmet Cosmetic, five cosmetic tattoos and five themed weapon set designs.
- Single-player turn-based tactics set in the twilight of the Clone Wars—lead Hawks and Zero Company in a gritty, cinematic Star Wars campaign.
- Close the game. Do not replace loader files while the game is running.
- Back up existing files. If the target folder already contains
dwmapi.dllor aue4ssdirectory, copy them somewhere outside the game folder before changing anything. - Find the correct folder. Open the game’s
SWZeroCompanyBinariesWin64directory, the folder containingSWZeroCompany.exe. - Extract the complete archive there. Follow the package’s instructions and replace included files if prompted. Do not install it in
EngineBinariesWin64. - Add the mod itself. Follow that mod’s page for its files and any additional requirements; installing UE4SS does not install the mod.
- Launch and test. If it fails, temporarily remove third-party mods and test again. Restore mods one at a time, closing the game between changes, to help isolate a conflict.
Check build and platform compatibility before troubleshooting
The UE4SS listing’s verification is limited to the Steam and EA App builds it names. If you use Epic or another executable build, that listing does not establish compatibility. A Linux/Proton launch-option suggestion appears in the community material, but the package itself is not validated for Linux/Proton there; treat it as an unverified community report, not a supported route.

Undo changes and isolate a mod problem
- The game stops launching after installing UE4SS: Close the game, remove the newly added loader files, and restore the backed-up
dwmapi.dllandue4ssdirectory if you had them. Confirm the package matches your store and executable build before trying again. - A UE4SS-dependent mod does not work: Check that UE4SS is installed in the folder containing
SWZeroCompany.exe, notEngineBinariesWin64, and then recheck the mod’s own file-placement directions. - The game worked before adding several mods: Temporarily remove the third-party mods, then put them back and test one at a time, closing the game between changes. This can help identify a conflict without assuming every failure has the same cause.
- The game updated or the build is unverified: Compare your current store and executable build with the loader listing’s tested scope before changing files further.
