Choose Burnout Paradise Remastered if you want an arcade racer you can play now, built around freely exploring a city, starting events, and chasing speed, stunts, and crashes. Choose Star Wars: Galactic Racer if you want repulsorcraft, podracing, and a league-run structure—but its scheduled October 6, 2026 release is still ahead as of October 4, so its finished handling and overall quality cannot yet be judged.
Galactic Racer or Burnout Paradise: what is the main difference?
These games share an arcade-racing label, but they offer different kinds of racing. Star Wars: Galactic Racer is announced as an unsanctioned Outer Rim league where you progress through events and tours. Burnout Paradise Remastered is an established open-world racer built around roaming Paradise City and choosing when and where to race.

Galactic Racer’s structure and feature descriptions come from Lucasfilm Games and StarWars.com and its official gameplay announcement. EA describes Burnout’s open-world premise in its 2018 remaster announcement; the supported platform list is on the current EA product page.
Is Galactic Racer open world?
Its announced campaign is organized around a league and tours rather than the free-roaming city structure that defines Burnout Paradise. Players choose between events, face new challenges and unlocks, and try to keep a tour going; too many crashes end that tour, after which they can regroup and start again. Some perks and unlocks persist across attempts. The available official descriptions establish those systems, but do not establish that Galactic Racer has a Burnout-style open world.

That makes the choice partly about how you like to approach racing. Burnout lets you inhabit a driving space and discover routes and events as you go. Galactic Racer’s announced campaign gives more emphasis to selecting league events and managing the risk of a run.
What does each game feel designed to make you race?
Galactic Racer: Star Wars craft and league rivalry
Galactic Racer features landspeeders, skim speeders, speeder bikes, and podracers, with the publisher describing different physics and playstyles, customization, rival takedowns, and PvP. Announced locations include Jakku, Ando Prime, Sentinel One, and Lantaana. Those are feature announcements, not independent evidence of how responsive, balanced, or enjoyable the finished racing is.

Lucasfilm Games executive producer Craig Derrick described the aim as “a racing experience that’s cinematic, skill-driven, and unmistakably Star Wars” in the gameplay announcement. That captures the intended appeal: a racing game for players drawn to Star Wars vehicles and settings, rather than conventional cars.
Burnout Paradise: cars, speed, stunts, and crashes
Burnout Paradise Remastered centers on driving cars through Paradise City, finding routes, and launching into races and stunts. EA’s description emphasizes speed, destruction, and crashes, while its remaster package includes the original game and eight Year of Paradise add-on packs, including Big Surf Island. The Time Savers pack is excluded.

Technical details vary by platform. EA said the 2018 remaster had high-resolution textures, with 4K resolution and supporting 60 FPS on PS4 Pro and Xbox One X. EA later described the Switch version as optimized for 60 FPS and including the same main add-on content. Those statements apply to the named versions; they are not a blanket performance guarantee for every platform.
Which one should you buy?
- Pick Burnout Paradise Remastered if you want a released game, open-world exploration, car-based racing, stunts, and crash-focused action.
- Consider Galactic Racer if Star Wars repulsorcraft and a league-based campaign appeal more than free-form city driving, and you are comfortable deciding about a new release rather than relying on established reviews.
- Check your platform first. Galactic Racer is announced for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. EA lists Burnout Paradise Remastered for Nintendo Switch, PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
As of October 4, 2026, Galactic Racer is scheduled to launch worldwide two days later. Its announced modes and features can be compared with Burnout’s established design, but finished handling, performance, balance, reviews, and replay value are not yet available as tested facts.

What editions are confirmed for Galactic Racer?
The official Galactic Racer site confirms physical Standard and Deluxe editions for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. It also lists a Collector’s Edition that includes the digital Deluxe content, a metal Kor Sarun: Darc X landspeeder model, a banner, pilot patches, a printed 80-page art book, and a steel case. The site confirms these editions, but not stock at any particular retailer.

When checked, the US PlayStation storefront and Steam each listed the Standard Edition at $59.99 and the Deluxe Edition at $79.99. Those are region-specific, changeable storefront prices; check the store for your region before buying.
