The reports do not establish a cause or a confirmed fix. Here’s what is known and what affected users can check safely.
What users are reporting
Android Authority reported on October 2, 2026, that users had been unable to sign in to YouTube through web browsers for roughly two weeks. Reports described problems across more than one browser and computer, while the affected accounts reportedly continued to work in YouTube’s mobile and TV apps. The pattern suggests a browser-access problem for some accounts, but it does not prove a technical cause or show that every account is affected. Android Authority’s report includes examples.
Reported messages include “There was an issue while signing you in to YouTube,” redirects to an error or “oops” page, and the phrase “Our tubes must be clogged” in a YouTube Community report. These are user or interface reports, not an official diagnosis. The report characterized the affected group as small but gave no count or percentage.
Has Google confirmed a fix?
In the October 2 report, YouTube Community product experts had escalated the issue, but Google had not publicly confirmed a wider problem, explained its cause, or given a fix timeline. That is the status described by the cited report, not confirmation that the issue remains unchanged after its publication. A separate YouTube sign-in problem involving TVs and gaming consoles was reported fixed in September 2026; it is not the same browser issue.

What affected users can check
Use YouTube’s official sign-in troubleshooter
Start with YouTube’s sign-in troubleshooter. It asks whether you know your sign-in details and what happens when you try, including whether you see an error, get sent through a redirect, or have a two-step verification issue. It then offers routes based on your answers. The cited reporting does not establish that this tool resolves the recently reported browser problem.
Sign in with the Google Account linked to the channel
YouTube access generally uses a Google Account. If you used an older YouTube username, try the Google Account email address associated with the channel and its existing password. YouTube’s account sign-in guidance notes an exception: some channels created before May 2009 may not be part of a Google Account.

Avoid treating repeated browser changes as a proven fix
Because reports describe the issue across browsers and computers, switching browsers, deleting cookies, or changing a password should not be presented as a reliable remedy. Android Authority said one user had tried those steps without success. The available reporting does not establish a safe, effective workaround for the apparent account-specific pattern.

If your Google Account works in another Google service but YouTube fails in a browser, that matches part of the reported pattern; it does not by itself identify why sign-in failed. Likewise, success in the YouTube app alongside failure on the website describes a difference in access route, not proof that your account or browser is at fault. These observations are useful when explaining the problem to support, but they are not a diagnostic test.
