Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 is the stronger chipset on the published specifications and benchmark figures available. Qualcomm lists a higher maximum CPU clock, Wi-Fi 7, an X70 modem, an 18-bit ISP, and Quick Charge 5 for the 8s Gen 3. The 7s Gen 4 is also a 4 nm platform and supports Wi-Fi 6E, but its listed maximum CPU clock is lower. These are platform comparisons—not guarantees about how two finished phones perform or last on a charge.
At a glance: the main differences
| Feature | Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 | Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 |
|---|---|---|
| Process | 4 nm | 4 nm |
| Maximum CPU clock listed by Qualcomm | Up to 3 GHz | Up to 2.7 GHz |
| Connectivity highlighted by Qualcomm | X70 5G modem; Wi-Fi 7 | 5G platform; Wi-Fi 6E, with up to 2.9 Gbps stated on Qualcomm’s product page |
| ISP listed in Qualcomm comparison material | 18-bit Spectra ISP | 12-bit Spectra ISP |
| Charging feature listed | Quick Charge 5 | Quick Charge 4+ |
| Positioning | Premium 8-series capabilities | Selected Snapdragon experiences and gaming features in the 7s line |
Specifications are platform capabilities; manufacturers decide which features to implement in each phone. See Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 page, Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 page, and product comparison material for the listed capabilities.
Which chipset is faster in benchmarks?
Published comparison-page figures favor the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 in both listed CPU tests and AnTuTu 10. NanoReview’s comparison page reports the following scores:
| Benchmark | Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 | Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 |
|---|---|---|
| AnTuTu 10 | 1,481,667 | 854,884 |
| Geekbench 6 single-core | 2,019 | 1,214 |
| Geekbench 6 multi-core | 5,570 | 3,314 |
These are figures reported by NanoReview’s chipset comparison page, accessed October 7, 2026—not results from a controlled, matched-phone test. Scores can vary with the phone, cooling, memory, software, benchmark version, and run conditions. The page does not provide a 7s Gen 4 result for its 3DMark Wild Life entry, so the figures above should not be taken as a complete graphics comparison.

What the specifications mean in a phone
CPU and gaming
The 8s Gen 3’s higher listed peak CPU clock and stronger reported benchmark figures point to greater performance potential. Qualcomm also describes selected Snapdragon Elite Gaming features for the 7s Gen 4, but the supplied specifications do not establish that one chipset will deliver a particular frame rate or sustained gaming advantage in every phone. Cooling design and software tuning matter; short benchmark scores are not a substitute for sustained-load testing of the actual devices.
Connectivity
Qualcomm lists Wi-Fi 7 and an X70 modem for the 8s Gen 3, while its 7s Gen 4 page highlights Wi-Fi 6E and a 5G platform. Wi-Fi generation and modem support describe platform capabilities, not the exact connection a handset will provide. The phone must implement the relevant feature, and the router, network, region, and service plan can also affect what is available.

Camera processing and charging
Qualcomm’s comparison material lists an 18-bit Spectra ISP and Quick Charge 5 for the 8s Gen 3, versus a 12-bit Spectra ISP and Quick Charge 4+ for the 7s Gen 4. Those labels alone do not determine photo quality or charging time: camera sensors, image processing, charger compatibility, battery design, and manufacturer settings all shape the result.

Which one should you choose?
Choose a phone with Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 if
- You want the higher-tier platform on paper and the stronger scores in the cited AnTuTu 10 and Geekbench 6 listings.
- Wi-Fi 7, the listed X70 modem, or the 8s Gen 3’s stated ISP and charging features matter to you—and the specific handset supports them.
Consider a phone with Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 if
- The complete phone offers a better fit for your budget or needs; the chipset name alone does not establish a device’s value.
- Its screen, battery, camera implementation, memory, cooling, or software-support policy is more attractive to you than those of an alternative 8s Gen 3 phone.
For either option, compare complete phones rather than choosing by processor alone. Check the exact chipset in the model listing, then weigh the phone’s price, memory configuration, cooling, battery capacity, display, cameras, and software support. No controlled sustained-performance or battery-life comparison between the two platforms is established by the cited figures.
