Specifications are from Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 product brief and Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 product brief, except where the table identifies NanoReview. A platform’s maximum supported feature may not appear in every phone built around it.
Which chipset is faster in benchmarks?
NanoReview’s current aggregates favor the Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 in both listed tests. On AnTuTu 11, it reports 1,041,898 for the 7s Gen 4 against 829,894 for the 6s Gen 4. On Geekbench 6, the reported single-core and multi-core results are 1,223 and 3,168 for the 7s Gen 4, compared with 1,009 and 2,892 for the 6s Gen 4. NanoReview describes AnTuTu as testing CPU, GPU, RAM and I/O across scenarios, while Geekbench measures single- and multi-thread CPU performance.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsThese figures are useful indicators, not a controlled head-to-head test in identical phones. NanoReview’s Geekbench CPU aggregates draw on 15 tests for the 7s Gen 4 and 7 for the 6s Gen 4. Different handsets, cooling systems, firmware and memory configurations can affect results. See the separately reported figures on 91mobiles in that context: it lists 889,090 for AnTuTu and 1,016 single-core / 2,979 multi-core for Geekbench for the 6s Gen 4, and labels the AnTuTu figure the highest recorded for any device using that chipset. Those are not the same aggregate as NanoReview’s figures, so they should not be combined or treated as a replication.

What the CPU layouts tell you
The 7s Gen 4 uses a 1+3+4 arrangement: one prime core rated up to 2.7 GHz, three performance cores up to 2.4 GHz and four efficiency cores up to 1.8 GHz, according to Qualcomm. NanoReview identifies the 6s Gen 4 as having four Cortex-A78 cores up to 2.4 GHz plus four Cortex-A55 cores up to 1.8 GHz. The 7s’ newer stated arrangement and higher prime-core clock help explain why its published results lead, but clock speeds alone cannot predict a fixed real-world speed difference.
Why Qualcomm’s improvement percentages are not a direct comparison
Qualcomm’s product briefs compare each chipset with its own predecessor, not with one another. The 6s Gen 4 brief claims 36% better CPU performance and 59% better GPU performance versus the previous generation. The 7s Gen 4 brief claims 7% better CPU and 7% better GPU performance versus the Snapdragon 7s Gen 3. The briefs do not establish a shared baseline for calculating a 6s Gen 4 versus 7s Gen 4 improvement percentage.

These are platform capabilities rather than promises of a particular game’s frame rate. The phone maker chooses the panel, and sustained performance depends on the device’s cooling, the game and its settings. A handset using either chipset may have a lower-resolution or lower-refresh-rate screen than the platform maximum.

Camera, AI and connectivity differences
Imaging
Both platforms support photo capture up to 200 MP, but their advertised image pipelines differ. Qualcomm lists dual 12-bit ISPs and 2K HDR video capture for the 6s Gen 4; for the 7s Gen 4, it lists triple 12-bit ISPs and 4K HDR capture. Those are platform capabilities, not predictions of photo quality. The phone’s camera sensors, lenses and image-processing software remain important.
AI
Qualcomm’s 7s Gen 4 brief explicitly describes on-device generative AI support and a Hexagon NPU. The 6s Gen 4 brief emphasizes capture and connectivity instead; it does not specify a particular generative AI feature. That difference in the briefs is not proof that every 7s phone will run every AI feature, or that a phone using the 6s cannot offer AI features through other hardware or software.

- For USA Buyers: Only work with T-Mobile in the US, as it is not optimized for Verizon and AT&T. This means that as long as there's T-Mobile coverage, it'll work. For Intentional Buyers: Work outside of the USA with any network provider without any restrictions.
- 6.31" inch, Full HD LTPO P-OLED, 1116x2484 resolution, 431ppi, Corning Gorilla Glass 7i, 10-120 Hz refresh rate, 240 Hz touch screen sample rate
- 256GB UFS3.1 storage, microSD up to 2TB external storage capacity
- 12GB LPDDR5 RAM
- Snapdragon 7s (Gen 4) Mobile Platform Processor, Adreno GPU
Connectivity
Both briefs list 5G support for mmWave and sub-6 GHz, Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.4. A phone’s supported bands and carrier compatibility depend on its specific regional configuration, so check the handset specifications against your local network before buying.
How to choose between phones using these chips
The chipset comparison points to a stronger advertised ceiling for the 7s Gen 4, but buying decisions should be made between actual phones. NanoReview lists the Motorola Moto G57 Power with the 6s Gen 4 and the Xiaomi Redmi Note 15 Pro Plus 5G with the 7s Gen 4; these are examples of handset implementations, not controlled comparison devices. Check the specifications and offers for the precise model and region you intend to buy.

- Performance: Look for tests of the exact handset, especially if gaming or sustained workloads matter. Cooling and firmware can change how performance holds up over time.
- Display: Compare the phone’s actual resolution, refresh rate, brightness and panel quality rather than the chipset’s maximum display support.
- Cameras: Compare sample photos, sensor details and camera features for the handset. ISP megapixel ceilings alone do not establish image quality.
- Memory and storage: Check the configuration offered in your market; a chipset does not determine how much memory or storage a manufacturer includes.
- Software and price: Compare the phone’s update policy, current local price and availability. The chipset name does not establish any of these.
- Networks: Confirm the specific handset’s regional bands and carrier support, even though both platforms list similar headline connectivity.
As Qualcomm’s 7s Gen 4 brief puts it: “All comparisons made are in reference to previous generation, Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 Mobile Platform. Results will vary, depending on OEM implementation and other factors.” That caveat applies to the manufacturer’s improvement claims and reinforces why chipset specifications should not be read as handset guarantees.
