The Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 leads the cited benchmark averages, while the Snapdragon 6 Gen 4 lists support for an on-device FHD+ display with a refresh rate of up to 144 Hz. Both are 4 nm, eight-core platforms with a 1+3+4 CPU arrangement. Neither chip guarantees the same experience in every phone: handset design, cooling, memory, software and other implementation choices affect results.
How the specifications differ
Qualcomm’s platform briefs describe both chips as 4 nm designs with eight CPU cores arranged as one prime core, three performance cores and four efficiency cores. The listed clock speeds differ, and the 6 Gen 4 brief gives a more detailed breakdown.
| Specification | Snapdragon 6 Gen 4 | Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 |
|---|---|---|
| Process technology | 4 nm | 4 nm |
| CPU arrangement and listed clocks | 1 prime core up to 2.3 GHz; 3 performance cores up to 2.2 GHz; 4 efficiency cores up to 1.8 GHz | Qualcomm’s product page lists a maximum CPU clock of 2.5 GHz; its brief describes a Kryo CPU. The brief does not provide the same full clock breakdown. |
| On-device display capability | FHD+ up to 144 Hz | Check the individual handset and its product specifications. |
| Camera and video platform capability | Photo capture up to 200 MP; 4K 30 fps HDR capture | Qualcomm describes 200 MP photo and 4K HDR video capabilities. |
| Connectivity | 5G and Wi-Fi 6E; brief lists downlink speeds up to 2.9 Gbps | 5G; Qualcomm’s brief lists Wi-Fi 6E and downlink speeds up to 2.9 Gbps. |
These are platform ceilings and capability lists, not promises about every phone. For example, 144 Hz support does not mean a 6 Gen 4 handset necessarily has a 144 Hz panel. Camera sensors, ISP tuning, regional radio configurations and other OEM choices shape what a particular device actually offers. Qualcomm also cautions that results vary with OEM implementation and other factors. Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 6 Gen 4 brief and Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 product information describe the respective platforms.
The shared 4 nm label does not establish that the chips are equally efficient. It identifies the process technology listed in each brief, but does not by itself determine battery life or sustained performance in a finished phone.

Which chip is faster in the reported benchmarks?
In the comparison figures reported by NanoReview, the Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 scores higher in all five listed tests. These are changing aggregates of results from different phone models, not controlled tests of both chips in identical devices. The results are best read as directional reference points rather than scores a particular phone is guaranteed to reach. NanoReview’s comparison page reports the following figures and sample counts.
| Benchmark | Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 | Snapdragon 6 Gen 4 | Reported sample context |
|---|---|---|---|
| AnTuTu 11 | 1,041,899 | 975,254 | 140 tests for 7s Gen 3; 97 for 6 Gen 4 |
| Geekbench 6 single-core | 1,161 | 1,087 | 14 tests for 7s Gen 3; 17 for 6 Gen 4 |
| Geekbench 6 multi-core | 3,390 | 3,148 | 14 tests for 7s Gen 3; 17 for 6 Gen 4 |
| 3DMark Steel Nomad Light | 379 | 352 | The comparison page displays an 8% lead for 7s Gen 3. |
| PCMark 3.0 | 13,160 | 11,789 | Results from 8 phone models for 7s Gen 3; 3 for 6 Gen 4 |
The uneven samples matter, particularly where relatively few phone models contribute results. Different devices can vary in cooling, memory and firmware, so the table does not isolate the processor as the only cause of a score difference. Qualcomm’s own brief likewise notes that performance varies with OEM implementation and other factors.

What Qualcomm’s performance claims mean
Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 launch announcement reported nearly 20% improved CPU performance, up to 40% accelerated GPU performance, over 30% better AI performance and 12% overall power savings. These are Qualcomm’s generational claims against the Snapdragon 7s Gen 2, not head-to-head results against the Snapdragon 6 Gen 4. They should not be used to estimate the gap between these two chips. Qualcomm’s August 2024 launch announcement gives the claims and comparison baseline.
What the comparison means when choosing a phone
If the choice is strictly between these processors, the cited benchmark aggregates and higher listed maximum CPU clock favor the Snapdragon 7s Gen 3. The Snapdragon 6 Gen 4’s listed FHD+ 144 Hz display capability may be relevant when comparing platform features, but only the phone’s actual panel tells you what you will get.

A real handset example is Xiaomi’s Redmi Note 14 Pro 5G, whose official global product page identifies the Snapdragon 7s Gen 3. Its other specifications are specific to that handset and should not be generalized to every phone using the chip.
Before buying, compare the exact local model and configuration rather than relying on the processor name alone:
Quick Recap
- Display: Check the panel’s resolution and refresh rate, not just the SoC’s maximum supported display.
- Battery and charging: Compare the phone’s stated battery and charging features; the shared process-node label does not establish real-world battery life.
- Cameras: Check the actual sensors and handset camera capabilities. Platform support for high-resolution capture does not guarantee a particular camera setup or image quality.
- Thermals and sustained use: Look for evidence about the exact phone’s behavior under demanding workloads; aggregate chip scores cannot predict how one handset handles heat.
- Software support: Compare the manufacturer’s update commitment for the specific model and market.
- Network compatibility: Confirm that the local variant supports your carrier’s bands and features.
- Price and availability: Compare current offers for the exact variants in your market. The processor comparison alone does not establish which phone is better value.
