There is no universal winner. SmarterASP.NET is the more directly documented fit if you need a Windows-hosted application on a recent .NET runtime: its hosting page lists .NET 10, while IONOS’s overview lists ASP.NET 4.8 and .NET 6.0. IONOS may suit applications compatible with those versions. Checked October 7, 2026, the available provider information does not establish a like-for-like price winner or an independently measured speed, uptime, or support winner.
At a glance: which host fits your situation?
| Your requirement | Better-documented fit | Why |
|---|---|---|
| A Windows-hosted app that needs .NET 10 | SmarterASP.NET, subject to plan verification | Its ASP.NET Core hosting page lists .NET 10.x. Confirm the runtime is available on the specific plan you intend to buy. |
| An app compatible with ASP.NET 4.8 or .NET 6.0 | Either may fit | IONOS lists both versions in its Windows hosting overview; SmarterASP.NET also lists these versions. Check deployment and plan constraints. |
| A price comparison for Windows ASP.NET hosting | Not established | SmarterASP.NET publishes tier prices. The IONOS public prices found are for Linux shared hosting, not Windows ASP.NET hosting. |
| A proven speed, uptime, or support leader | Not established | The available figures are provider claims, not matched independent measurements. |
Which .NET and ASP.NET versions do they document?
SmarterASP.NET
SmarterASP.NET says its Windows Server 2022 platform supports .NET 10.x, 9.x, 8.x, 7.x, 6.x, 5.x, .NET Core 3.x and 2.x, as well as older ASP.NET versions. It also describes SQL Server, MySQL, and PostgreSQL features. These are provider statements; the list does not establish that every runtime is available under identical conditions on every tier. Check the selected plan against your framework, deployment target, and database requirements. SmarterASP.NET’s ASP.NET Core hosting page
IONOS
IONOS’s hosting-solutions overview lists Windows Server 2022, ASP.NET 4.8, and .NET 6.0 for its Windows hosting. Its help page says to choose Windows hosting when a project requires Microsoft technologies such as ASP.NET or MSSQL. This makes IONOS a candidate for compatible applications, but the published overview does not establish support for .NET 10. Verify the exact runtime and framework your app needs with IONOS before ordering. IONOS hosting solutions · IONOS on Windows versus Linux hosting
Do not treat a list of available runtimes as a recommendation to start a new project on an older version. Compatibility with your application and its dependencies matters; so does confirming the provider’s supported configuration for the chosen plan.

Are their advertised prices comparable?
No. SmarterASP.NET’s plan comparison lists the following monthly prices. These are provider-listed prices, and you should confirm current charges and terms at checkout.
| SmarterASP.NET tier | Listed monthly price | Websites listed |
|---|---|---|
| Basic | $2.95/month | 1 |
| Advance | $4.95/month | 6 |
| Premium | $7.95/month | Unlimited |
SmarterASP.NET also advertises a 60-day trial. Confirm eligibility, billing and renewal terms, and the total checkout amount before committing. Its plan page lists Web Deploy and GitHub workflow/deployment features, but check the tier’s exact limits and the deployment method your application needs. The IONOS US prices surfaced for Essential, Starter, Plus, and Ultimate are for Linux container-based shared hosting. They are not Windows ASP.NET prices and should not be compared against SmarterASP.NET’s figures as equivalent plans. No current public US price for IONOS Windows ASP.NET hosting is established here. Ask for the Windows product’s current price and compare the billing term, renewal rate, included resources, and add-ons directly. IONOS US web-hosting plans

How do deployment, databases, and control differ?
Deployment workflow
SmarterASP.NET’s plan comparison lists Web Deploy and GitHub workflow/deployment. Confirm which options are included in your chosen tier and whether the workflow supports your build and release process.
IONOS distinguishes Windows hosting from its GitHub-based Deploy Now product. Do not assume that Deploy Now is interchangeable with Windows ASP.NET hosting: verify the product’s runtime, deployment model, and fit for your application before selecting it. IONOS hosting solutions

Database and capacity checks
SmarterASP.NET describes support for SQL Server, MySQL, and PostgreSQL, but the comparison information does not settle the limits that can decide whether a production app fits. Before choosing either provider, confirm the database engine and version, database count and size, remote access, backup policy, storage and transfer allowances, resource or connection limits, scheduled-task support, and any add-on charges. Match these against your application’s actual workload rather than relying on a feature name alone.

Managed shared hosting or server control
IONOS describes classic web hosting as shared hosting with provider-managed infrastructure, and distinguishes it from root servers, which require more technical knowledge. These are different operating models: do not compare managed shared hosting with a self-managed server as if they offer the same control or maintenance burden. Choose based on whether your application needs server-level configuration and whether your team can maintain it. IONOS hosting model explanation

Does either host have better uptime, speed, or support?
The provider pages advertise different uptime figures: SmarterASP.NET lists 99.9%, while IONOS’s general web-hosting page lists 99.99%. These are vendor-published claims for products that are not directly equivalent, not independent measurements of matched Windows ASP.NET plans. They do not establish that IONOS is more reliable in practice.
The available information also provides no independent side-by-side performance or support measurements. To evaluate a production-critical service, look for evidence gathered under comparable plan, region, and workload conditions; review the contract’s availability terms and remedies; and test the support channels you expect to use. SmarterASP.NET’s homepage also displays a customer-count claim, but that is provider marketing rather than an independently audited measure of service quality. How to choose between them
- Write down the exact runtime requirements. Note the .NET or ASP.NET version, operating-system dependencies, database engine, and any server configuration the application needs.
- Confirm support for the specific product and tier. SmarterASP.NET lists .NET 10; IONOS lists ASP.NET 4.8 and .NET 6.0. Ask the provider to confirm your required runtime and deployment approach on the plan you would actually purchase.
- Match the deployment and database limits. Check Web Deploy or GitHub workflow support, database versions and limits, backups, and any resource constraints against the application’s needs.
- Compare complete Windows-hosting costs. Include the initial term, renewal price, billing interval, taxes, required add-ons, and cancellation or refund terms. Do not use IONOS Linux shared-hosting prices as a proxy for its Windows offering.
- Decide how much control you need. Shared hosting keeps infrastructure management with the provider; a server product may offer more control but adds operational responsibility.
- Evaluate service evidence separately from feature lists. Provider-published uptime claims are not a substitute for independent, comparable measurements or contract terms.
Verdict
SmarterASP.NET is the more directly documented choice when an application needs a recent Windows-hosted .NET runtime such as .NET 10, provided the specific plan meets its technical and capacity requirements. IONOS can be a reasonable fit for an app compatible with the ASP.NET 4.8 or .NET 6.0 versions it lists, once its Windows plan’s price and limits are confirmed. There is not enough comparable evidence to name a universal winner on price, performance, or support.
