The teams behind Smart Launcher and KWGT say they are joining forces to create a new company called Wild Pixels. Their October 7, 2026 announcement points to closer collaboration and deeper links between the Android customization apps, but the formal process was still ongoing, and no specific integration release date or app bundle has been confirmed.
What is Wild Pixels?
Wild Pixels is the name the Smart Launcher and Kustom Industries teams announced for the new company they are working to create—not a separately launched Android app. In a response during their Reddit AMA, a representative said the existing Smart Launcher and Kustom apps would continue under that umbrella. The AMA does not announce a Wild Pixels app for users to download.
In their joint announcement, Smart Launcher’s Vincenzo and Kustom Industries’ Frank wrote: “After many years of building Android customization apps independently, our teams have decided to join forces and we are now working on the creation of a new company: Wild Pixels.” They also said it was not an acquisition by a large company and that there was no external investor behind it. Those are the teams’ statements; the announcement does not independently verify corporate filings.

The teams’ stated aim is to share useful features and approaches between their apps, build toward a more unified design language, and pursue deeper integrations. In the AMA, they said they were already sharing code and knowledge. They have not specified which future features will ship, or when.

- Attention-grabbing design meets the latest evolution of the Google Pixel Camera on the new Google Pixel 11 Pro XL; Gemini Intelligence helps manage details so you can live in the moment[1]; and the phone is available in two sizes

- Stay informed without looking at your screen: When your phone is face down, Pixel HiLight gently alerts you with subtle glowing lights when your favorite contacts are calling or you’re talking with Gemini; exclusive to Google Pixel 11 Pro phones
- Magic Capture catches the moment as you live it: With just one tap, Pixel 11 Pro captures video and photos, and automatically edits, crops, and unblurs a curated collection, ready to share – and you get the memory of how it felt to be in the moment
- Two new cameras for more brilliant photos: A larger telephoto sensor captures 30% more light for clear, beautiful photos and videos, even in the dark[3]; Pixel’s longest zoom ever helps you capture details from impressive distances[4]
One integration already exists
This collaboration builds on an existing connection: Smart Launcher’s Smart Launcher 6.5 announcement documented the ability to include KWGT widgets in Smart Launcher backups. That established backup support is distinct from the additional integrations the teams say they want to develop.
Bundles are a possibility, not a current offer
The teams expressed interest in combined app bundles, but said creating them would take work and one might not be available from day one. They have not announced a bundle launch or price, so users should not treat one as an available purchase option.

Android Authority’s October 8, 2026 report described the early focus as minor tweaks and optimizations, while noting that details about upcoming products were limited. That is secondary reporting, not a detailed roadmap from the teams.
