Which Sky devices are covered?
The redesign is described as a software update for Sky Glass televisions and Sky Stream devices. The available reports do not say that owners need to buy new hardware to receive it. They also do not establish a final list of eligible models or confirm that the update is generally available.
T3’s account is a hands-on preview of the interface, not a final specification. Names and behavior may change before release.
What does the redesigned interface look like?
A new top menu and Home screen
T3 describes a transparent menu across the top of the screen, with Home, TV Guide, My Library, Sport, My Account, text search and settings. A Recents shortcut is also shown. The Home screen is presented as a rotating selection of curated entertainment rather than simply foregrounding the app or programme currently selected; navigating upward brings up a larger trailer view.

TV Guide and direct access to live TV
The preview says viewers can open TV Guide by pressing right on the remote. Channel icons help identify listings, and selecting a live programme can take the viewer directly to the channel. From the guide, viewers can also choose a future programme and select Record Show, Record Series or Watchlist, where those options are available.
My Library and Recents
My Library replaces Playlist and is intended to bring together Watchlist titles and recordings. The preview also describes following actors and sports teams to receive related recommendations.

Recents is shown as a place for Continue Watching, recently visited channels and recently opened apps. T3 notes that this label may change, so treat it as a preview name rather than a settled label.
How would recordings work—and what are the limits?
T3 reports that recordings would be stored on Sky’s cloud servers rather than on a local hard drive. The report attributes a capacity of 1,000 hours to Sky; it does not establish a retention period or say how long recordings remain available. The report’s comparison of the capacity to “500 days worth of Peppa Pig” is an illustrative analogy, not a separate measurement.

Recording is not supported on every channel. In T3’s examples, BBC programmes remain available to add to Watchlist and watch through iPlayer, while Sky channels, including Sky Sports, are reported as recordable. Check the options shown for a specific programme rather than assuming that every listing can be recorded.
What is Smart Voice meant to do?
T3 describes Smart Voice as a way to discover entertainment and control Sky’s service using natural-language requests, with contextual follow-up questions. In one demonstration, the journalist described a film about Tom Hanks stranded on an island; the assistant identified Cast Away and answered a follow-up about awards. In another, a question about when Celebrity Traitors would air brought up its programme page, where it could be saved to Watchlist.

The preview says programme information can draw on sources such as Wikipedia and that answers appear at the top of the screen. These are demonstrations reported by T3, not independent accuracy tests or confirmation that every feature will be available at launch. Smart Voice is described as focused on entertainment and Sky service controls—not as an unrestricted general-purpose chatbot.

There are two different timing signals, and both concern limited contexts rather than a confirmed universal launch. In a Sky Community post dated August 25 and edited September 15, 2026, Sky Community Manager Kev wrote: “Starting tomorrow (15/09), everyone who opted into the trial will begin moving over to the new SkyOS. The rollout will happen in stages, with all trial participants expected to be updated by the end of the month.” That is a schedule for people who opted into the trial, not evidence that all Sky customers received the update.

T3 reported on September 30 that a select group of Sky Glass owners was already in a public trial, and that the first update was expected before the end of 2026. The article said readers could not then sign up to test the features. As of October 3, 2026, the sources do not confirm a public release date for all eligible Sky Glass and Sky Stream customers. For account- and device-specific notices, check Sky’s current communications.
Is the Sky Go redesign the same update?
No. Broadband TV News reported on September 8, 2026 that Sky had launched a separate redesigned Sky Go app for Sky Glass and Sky Stream customers on iOS and Android, with a laptop version expected later. The app update was described as offering Home, TV Guide, My Library, Sport and Search, plus the ability to resume a programme started on TV, use My Library, stream in Full HD and schedule remote recordings. The report said Sky Q customers remained on the existing Sky Go (Q/+) app.
That app refresh is adjacent platform news, not the Sky Glass or Sky Stream television operating-system rollout. Carli Kerr, Managing Director of Sky TV & NOW, described the app refresh by saying: “Great entertainment should fit around customers’ lives.”

- Device and account notices: the trial timetable does not establish when the general update will reach your device.
- Navigation: look for whether TV Guide and live channels are easier to reach from the remote, and whether My Library makes Watchlist items and recordings easier to find.

- Feature labels and behavior: names such as Recents and details shown in a preview may change before the final release.
