SiteIndex is presented by its creator, Gagandeep Singh, as a collection of more than 70 free online tools that require no signup and have no paywall. The tools cover website checks, network diagnostics, developer tasks, and everyday utilities. Singh’s September 30, 2026, DEV Community post is a product announcement, not an independent test of the tools.
What SiteIndex says it offers
Singh describes SiteIndex as a place to handle small web and computer tasks without first creating an account. The count of “70+” is the author’s figure; it has not been independently audited. The collection is grouped into four broad categories:
- Website and domain: A Website Score tool is described as auditing a public site for SEO, performance, security, and accessibility. Singh also says site owners can embed a live score widget.
- Internet and network: Listed examples include a speed test, DNS lookup, DNS propagation checker, port checker, ping tool, HTTP headers checker, and SSL checker.
- Developer: Examples include a JSON formatter, JWT decoder, regex tester, Base64 utility, hash generator, cron job maker, and UUID and ULID generators.
- Utilities: The post lists a QR code generator, PDF merging and splitting, image tools, text manipulation, and unit converters.
These are the capabilities the creator describes; the post does not provide independent accuracy, performance, or accessibility results for individual tools.
How to think about the no-signup and privacy claims
Singh says SiteIndex has no signup requirement or paywall and that tools able to run client-side do so. The JSON formatter is given as an example of a task that should not require an account. That explains the author’s design rationale, but it does not establish how every tool handles data, whether a particular operation runs entirely in the browser, or whether any data is sent to a server.
#1 Best Overall
For non-sensitive tasks, a browser-based utility may be convenient. Before entering passwords, private keys, customer records, confidential documents, or other sensitive material into any online tool, check its own data-handling information and avoid submitting information that should remain private. The announcement does not include an independent privacy or security assessment.
What to check before relying on a tool
A free utility can be useful without being the right choice for every job. Match the tool to the task and verify the result when it matters:
Rank #2
- For a quick SEO or website check, treat a score as an initial diagnostic rather than a complete audit.
- For DNS, ports, ping, or SSL checks, confirm that the result refers to the correct hostname, network, and time.
- For developer utilities, validate important output with the system or library that will consume it.
- For PDF and image operations, review the output and consider whether uploading the file is appropriate.
- For accessibility checks, use automated findings as a starting point; the announcement does not establish that the Website Score tool replaces manual evaluation.
Chrome extension: announced, current details unclear
The post also announces a Chrome extension intended to open SiteIndex from the browser toolbar. It does not establish whether the extension is currently available in a store, which permissions it requests, or which browser versions it supports. Check the listing and permissions directly before installing; the announcement alone is not enough to assess compatibility or privacy.
What the announcement does—and does not—establish
The post is useful for understanding the intended scope of SiteIndex: a broad collection aimed at quick website, network, coding, and utility tasks without an account. It is not a comparative review or benchmark. It supplies no independent results showing that the tools are more accurate, faster, safer, or more private than other options, and it does not document the behavior of every individual tool.
